Here’s a trick I used to do back in the day to get the chassis to ground clearance reduced for a more slammed look without running Honda Civic camber numbers. It’s not a cheap route initially, but 17” wheels and tires are cheaper to buy in the long run. Play around with wheel color and you’ll never notice that you have a 17” wheel if your concerned about the wheel looking small. At the end, I p...

😃👍👍
Then why did you buy it. This video is so fucking dumb. Its a subaru, its made to stay planted, thats the point of awd.
What do you want to do with your car? I recently test drove a VB WRX manual and it handles very well. I can understand it might be boring, but it needs more power. I just went through a process of so many cars and went from a 2013 BRZ manual I had since new to a 2016 Audi RS3. It’s plenty fun. Probably the biggest issue with the current WRX is they have open diffs instead of LSD, and no adjustment unlike the VA WRX STI. I take my RS3 to the skid pan to have “sideways” fun. I’m very pleased with the RS3 so far, it just grips and goes. I plan to have a go at autocross/khanacross in it when I have the time.
I mean its supposed to be a family car that's also fun to drive and safe. Its not really comparable to a BMW or Audi, especially with the prices difference.
@@gogogadgetGlock agree. I was originally going to be buying a new Audi or BMW, but the 1/2 the price so I could save more money made me get this. It’s a great family car. I don’t totally dislike it. I just wish since it’s a toy car for me, and I won’t drive it in winter, that I got something rwd instead.
Grip sucks. Wheel spin and hop is amazing.
@@steve8803 I can say I agree if you’re still on factory tire… once I upgraded tires, not longer slip tires. Used to spin the stocks all the time mid pull
base model is the way to go. I got it for $28k 1% financing. Its a steal at that price point.
My 1st AWD car is my '24 WRX. Its alright. Nothing like my IS F but it's been fun. Ill still daily my 92 tercel though lol
Lexus is500 brother
I was gonna SAY IS F lol. The original 2ur-gse 😊
Big surprise 😂
I have a Ford Focus RS mk3, currently at 400hp, the awd on this thing is amazing. With only the sport mode and normal traction control, the car won't budge whatever you do to it and it's very safe. If you use Sport ESC, it becomes a completely different beast, very playful, it throws the back a lot ( oversteers ) and it's incredibly fun, it also has a drift mode which adds even more oversteer. It's a blast to be honest, you get the playfullnes of a rwd car, with all the benefits of the AWD system ( like the stability you get in winter and when raining ).
Also it's pretty light for a conventional hatchback with AWD, 1.5 tones compared to modern cars that are over 2 tonnes
So it means its good
@@victorbarberis2603 it means it’s planted and boring. No thrill in driving experience.
I drive a h6 liberty/legacy, fun car but awd kinda sucks, it’s why my next car will be a bmw, Audis are cool too but they are also awd
@@aminlogory4684 glad I’m not the only one only who just isn’t impressed with Awd.
I drive a VB. If you want more, you gotta spend more than 35K my friend. Common sense really lol. And the symmetrical AWD doesn't suck. You just don't know how to drive it ahaha
@@Ilovecomedy818 I know how to drive it, I just don’t like it. I’m used to Rwd cars where I can powerslide them just by throttle. Can’t powerslide this car unless the pavement is wet and I kick the clutch.
@ cause it’s AWD… it wont slide without you ruining the diff. I came from a 95’ M3. Rear wheel drive as well. I 💯 prefer the WRX. Feels more planted
awd is ok, I have an evo9 fbo e85 and just got a VB wrx. Its fun going 80mph when its raining.
Shot fired! But I agree it feels too big and safe; Almost like you are driving a suv. I mean I guess that is why the ebrake is there. Next car I want to go back to rwd.
@@Watsaname1999 same brotha, but I love the styling of the VB Wrx, which is why I’m converting it to RWD 😎 But for sure the next car will either be a 500+ who AWD BMW or a C8 Vette It’s the underpowered motor on an AWD platform that I really dislike. I’m sure if it had a better motor, I’d like the Subaru Awd more.
I bought peddlers shocks and rebuilt on stock springs. Pretty happy with them!! 08 WRX.
@@groo2765 unfortunately for this platform, we don’t have anything but oem shocks, lowering springs our straight to coilovers available. No aftermarket shock options are available yet.
Mentioned in the another video, but I love mine!! Jersey roads suck man, and these save me lol
my track car runs 10k front and 14k rear springs. you want stiffer on the track and softer on the road. When I changed spring rates I also sent my coils in to be revalved.
@@brian6speed it’s all personal preference. You can typically go +/- 2k before you need revalving . You can dial in the dampening on these and it’s super hard. I’m set to max and there’s virtually no roll or dive. I kind of prefer the hard setting for all around driving now.
are those spats and skirts from verus?
@@LandyG19 yes they are 🤙
@@Subi_doo looks great. also are those the oem mud flaps? they look great
Do you havr 20mm spacers on your wheel hubs to get the flush fitment with the fenders. Stock wheels actually look good
@@aaronjessome1032 25mm
but the coilover kit on their website is $1850 (10% off) and comes with 6k springs? I don't see an optional spring package so id be spending 2k for less than optimal coilovers
@@phole_999 not sure what your looking at, maybe your looking at the price in AUD, but they are way less through distributors. I paid $1050. As of now, they come with 6k, maybe the company can swap out for 8k if you call them to order. pedders.com/collections/all/products/extreme-xa-coilover-kit-subaru-wrx-vb
Gosh $40K. Got new 2023 Premium in March for $31K (incl destination and several installed accessories but not NC 3% tax). I agree it’s not quite a $40K car. I recall getting my 2013 Limited for $26K but that was 10 years ago! Went for Premium this time as I didn’t want sunroof and was planning my own speaker upgrades.
I dunno. I like the mesh grille myself. But I agree about the other mods. Never been a big fan of the STI wing in general. That said I put on a duck bill spoiler on mine.
3/6 😅 Guess my 15s make it unique
I totally agree with you and I cringe every time I see a VB with those “mods” you mentioned, including red/neon green mudflaps. Just terrible lol
@MisakiLeasim In that case, I am going to slap some neon mud flaps on mine just to make you cringe!
** I meant front mount intercooler, not top mount lol
hah I completely agree. all i see on reddit and youtube is all the same expensive for no reason Chinese garbage.
car looks great bro. id say a front lip and its perfect.
@@LandyG19 I had a front lip on. Have to get another one. Took it off to get painted and the shop mis placed it lol. They paid me for it already so I’ll just get a new one.
Those are all 'mods' for poor people. They're cheap, easy, and for that reason cheap and easy people use them. The fact that you consider these things 'mods' kind of says something about you. The reality is that if you stick as much as you can to actual mods, i.e. shit that improves the function of the car it'll be noticeable. Aero that's actual tested, hood scoops that actually funnel more air into the engine bay for the TMIC or oil cooler if you're running an FMIC, the aforementioned FMIC, vented fenders and bonnet vents to compensate for skid plates adding aero while blocking the path of hot air... List goes on, but that shit is expensive, easier to glue a whirly fan on the side view mirrors and some blinking lights of science under the car. 😂. Honestly, the only time I see any of the stuff you mentioned is in videos making fun of ricers. You can make a bad ass looking WRX VB that handles better and has more power if you budget accordingly and aren't afraid of losing your warranty...wait are you just afraid of losing your warranty? I noticed you said nothing about stance, do coilovers void warranty, or is it because good ones are expensive?
@@murmsuniversalrobotics3938 I worked in sales, and while I have customers willing to spend, I had more customers not willing and always telling me they can get things cheaper off eBay or Amazon. Unfortunately, there’s more people not willing to spend than people willing to spend which is why the market is flooded with cheap mods.
@@murmsuniversalrobotics3938 I don’t have a warranty lol…. I haven’t had one since 1200 miles lol.. as far as stance goes, yeah you can add that to the list lol… the tucked wheels and rediculous rear camber is nuts lol. 😂 I’m on coilovers and it probably does void suspension warranty tbh.
@Subi_doo by stance I'm speaking of performance related configuration, not the 'my giant dad stepped on my car' level of stance. The smashed hot wheel thing blows my mind. My wife and I had never seen it in the wild together until our Peak Americana Road Trip Adventure from DC to California; her reaction was hilarious. Smashed Mercedes that likely cost twice what my car costs with my mods, she was so confused. I'm certain it was bagged, full speed forward on just about every cliche fast boy mod a kid could ever put on a car. It was either a rich dude's kid or a rich guy with a midlife crisis.
The market is being choked by the epa.
@@chief8269 that’s another topic for another day. The visual mods are lacking. Everyone is coming out with the same stuff and not adding anything of value to the variety of options. Everything is the same and all the cars look alike because of it.
I have a ‘24 and find it to be pretty stiff. Rebound seems to be a primary culprit but 2024+ models have some additional chassis rigidity from my understanding. Thanks for sharing! 🎉
I know the STI wing is for the STI. Buuuuuuut the STI wing is offered as a factory part for our friends south of the border.
@@sinanaladdin1380 that’s unfortunate lol. The only sti wing that looks decent is the type r looking sti wing.
@Subi_doo either way, if Subaru put the STI wing on a WRX, who are we to say it doesn't belong on there lol
build your own shit🤦🏻♂️
Springs, reliable power and some lightweight wheels is all you need
Ive never seen a car that looks better stock more often than when people start sticking stuff on with double sided tape. It's so bad what some people do to these cars.
@@aaronjessome1032 a lot go way over board almost to the point it’s ricey lol.
@Subi_doo oh they go to that point and way past. I'm not sure if you're running spacers for the stock rims to fit as well as they do but all I would change on yours is a set of CE28's in gunmetal or something. To each his own though. Thanks for the content and not ruining the aesthetic of the WRX
Best videos online. “No ghetto wing”. Super thorough as well and answer all the questions people are thinking about while watching. Thanks for the video.
@@MaxtheQAQCguy thank you 🙏
I don't have any of those mods. I don't go to car shows though, only autocross and track days.
VB WRX is a commuter car that just needs an intake and a DMann Tune to be great. There are only so many options. 1) Stock grill FTW, I don't like gloss black 2) Hella Horns are stupid and a poser move. 3) Rain Visors look like shit 4) Mudflaps they are fine 5) Never seen that, don't know what that is...sounds dumb. 6) STi Wangs look like shit on a VB. I haven't done any of those mods only Performance, Driveline, and Suspension. Personally, I will not purchase or run anything from AFD, Nobel, or JDMuscle....that's most of the trash you are mentioning that everyone does.
Performance is the key 🤙 power over looks
@chads7796 Who cares what other people do? It's not your money. To each their own.
@@steve8803 Exactly I don't. I was responding to his top 5 and giving my OPINION. You do you man and do it well!
Thats why i lifted my vb with crosstrek suspension, i was getting tired of everyone doing the same stuff and i wanted to be different, theres only one other guy who has done it from what i know, but i got the idea from him😂
@@monorailconrad117 every VB at the car shows looks the same around here 😂🤣😂😂 vb platform needs some serious revamping of parts offerings if it’s going to stay relevant.
@ Yeah for real, hopefully within due time more parts can be added
Was planning on doing the same but with Eibach springs. Scraped too many times going to events where I had to park on grass. Off with the coils it is.
@ honestly its not a bad idea with the lift springs, i got a little scared about all the other components wearing faster from the spring, thats why i did the xtrek swap

There is a sucker born every Minute..... I would have made a deal on a $30K Base model, but some folks have to get all of the options... and pay the price.
@@thomasward00 I’m used to top level trims and wanted a comparable car. After owning it, I’ve since found out it’s not comparable. Not even close
Trust me you don’t want adaptive cruise. I absolutely hate it and wish I could disable it.
@@coryhawkins967 I’ve never had a problem with it. All my cars have it. The ability to just cruise in traffic and not have to keep hitting the brakes and deactivating cruise control is nice. I’d never buy a HD truck without it. Makes those long drives easier.
@Subi_doo i like zooming up and going around people and the jamming on the brakes on me pisses me off. I mean overall it's a good idea.
The shock was bottoming out? Ooooph, that's not good.
@@matthewwain9958 yeah it was the shock bottoming out. Tested this by turning shock to the stiffest setting. No noise now.
@Subi_doo good to know. It didn't make sense it was clunking under normal driving.
Glad you found out the culprit though! If you don’t want to spend a grip, BC Coilovers are great for the price however I opted for the FA500’s and they are the best I’ve ever had. But bro, I have some questions regarding the installation part of the ctsv bracket on my brembo calipers.. ( I know I still haven’t installed them 😅) do you have IG by chance?
@@waybach funny you mention that, Pedders, is an Australian company, and their coilovers are made by BC, that’s why I felt confident buying these. Ig: subi_doo_wrx
@@waybach as far as the CTSV brakes, I have lots of videos on that install that may have the answers your looking for. If not, just message my on Facebook or IG. Facebook: scooby.subi
Good info, thanks man! Hopefully Bilstein will make some replacement shocks soon. I like my Eibach pto kit springs but its a little under dampened
Yeah, not sure why so many street only cars run coilovers. I get the height adjust-ability but the noise would be annoying. track car ok, street car, hard pass.
@@commbubba1990 agree. I have a review on these coming. Finally figured out what the noise was and it’s not what you think.
Dang man Im sorry that you have to go through the pain. Truth be told, these multi pieces coilovers (BC, Fortune Autos, Tiens, Silver, ETC) are not the best products. if you are still interested in coilovers. I highly recommend giving Racecomp a call. They sell revalved KW coilovers to the Subaru communities. In my opinion, they are the best budget legit coilovers. Due to the reasons that KW has to comply to a strict regulation, they did all the home work on setting up the optimal suspension travel for all of their coilovers. Racecomp "prefects" the damping on these KW coilover for North American's roads.
@@VinRZ I’m uploading a review as I write this. Please take a look and hear what I have to say. I’m actually in the middle of talking to race comp haha. I mentioned them in my review. 🤙 I’m going to get these running and give a follow up video just so people in the futures know what they need to do to get these Pedders up and running correctly. I’ll be switching to either Racecomp or air ride. Kinda leaning towards air ride as it’s the best of both worlds.
@Subi_doo depends on your application I guess. Imo nothing beats the OE ride comfort (unless OE screws it up royally). I had no complaints of my RCE SS-R. They felt extremely well manored on track, while still provide a good balance of street comfort. I will say this, I don't have any experience on bags.... so my recommendation is narrowed to coilovers.
Wtf is that shifter?
@@theredsalmon612 it’s a wisefab extension lol. I like tall shifters that place the knob at an ergonomically correct position to the driver. No longer have to reach, it’s right in front and takes less time banging through gears.
I think HeavyMetalWRX had this same issue and has a video with the fix that worked for him.
@@racer096 his was end link clunk… my noises coming from the shock towers. Almost like the coilover is bottoming out l.
@@Subi_doo Sorry about that, I hope you get it figured out :)
Never had clunking with coilovers even with metal tops.
@@matthewwain9958 your lucky because there’s a lot of people with this issue.
