  • @Spacemonkeymojo
    @Spacemonkeymojo 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Awesome video. Makes complete sense you don't just aim for big numbers but consider the driving experience. Stock it seems that torque maxes out and stays strong throughout the powerband, more torque would feel good but since it doesn't stay as high throughout the power band it sounds like it'd feel a lot different. Is it possible to tune the car so that you get more torque overall, but it stays flat throughout the powerband?

    • @boostcontrolledperformance1523
      @boostcontrolledperformance1523  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for the comment! Your theory is 100% correct. We can lift torque to create a "square" or balanced power/torque curve. The limit is the horsepower at higher rpm being limited by fuel quality and the mechanical parts themselves. As I mentioned in the video, it is easy to make gobs of torque down low, but if you do not match that with the power up top you will have a very "punchy" feeling powerband. Matching the torque and horsepower will create the most balanced driving experience which is why you see many stock figures looking like that.

    • @Spacemonkeymojo
      @Spacemonkeymojo 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@boostcontrolledperformance1523 Thanks for the reply! Do you think with the new WRX that it’s possible to replicate the stock curves, except with more horsepower and torque? Do you think the stock curves are optimal (i.e. would replicating them but with more hp and torque be the best driving experience?)?
      I’ve only become interested in modding cars and tuning recently, from the dyno charts I’ve seen before (so not a lot) I’ve never seen a chart where the torque curve has been so flat!

    • @boostcontrolledperformance1523
      @boostcontrolledperformance1523  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Spacemonkeymojo Yes, you can replicated the stock curve to a certain point! Pretty much take the max HP we can safely make and then you can easily lower torque to match that and square the graph out!

    Is the 93 pump ots map tuned conservative afr and timing? Or is it near "perfection" on extrapolating all the hp/trq out of it? If so I would rather get a pro tune and have them conservatively tune it for longevity of engine vs lets pull another 15hp and 30ftlbs more out of it and reduce longevity of engine. I know stock is best for longevity Im just looking for a scooch more without compromising the integrity or longevity of the engine.

      It's definitely optimized for max power without getting to risky. We know everyone drives differently so it's best to lean on the side of caution. Our OTS maps are set up for one mod only. The Pro Tune maps are better dialed in for YOUR car, driving style, etc.

    I currently own a 10th gen Civic Si and doing a tune and intake was quite noticeable. However, there were penalties for increasing the torque. Within 10,000 miles, the clutch started slipping and after 55,000 miles, I lifted the head. These items were very expensive, so I am fearful of doing anything like this to a car ever again. It will be interesting to see the effects of an OTS tune on these new Subies. I still have my Civic, but if I had to get another car, it would be the new WRX. I would gladly trade the mpgs for AWD and bigger power.

    • @boostcontrolledperformance1523
      @boostcontrolledperformance1523  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      A slipping clutch is only a matter of time but that depends heavily on driving style. Lifting a head from a tune only sounds pretty extreme. We don’t see those issues on turbo Subaru. Contrary to popular belief, we very rarely see any head gasket issues with turbo Subarus. That was the NA models which had that issue.

      @boostcontrolledperformance1523 are your tunes pro-tunes (e-tunes depending on who you ask) or OTS tunes? Although the OTS tunes are insane on these cars I'm looking to get a pro-tune next if at all. So far the numbers have been exactly what I'm looking for as far as boost, feedback knock, etc.

      I ended up getting a 2022 premium trim 6 speed last year, and I've had a great experience so far. Used prices were so inflated that it was cheaper to pick a new one. My advice would be to define the options you absolutely want (sound system comes highly recommended for instance). For me the cost/value worked out such that the limited trim wasn't worth the extra dough. Just make sure you break in the engine properly (Try to keep it below 4k rpm for a thousand miles, and you'll be golden. It's worth mentioning legacy subie boys are still butt hurt about the wheel well accents so you might not always get a lil wave if that matters to you XD

      Deceiving? You 100% have to tune the car in order to reach 60 in 2nd gear. Is it also deceiving that we shorten the wastegate actuator to increase the boost? Adjusting the calibration to achieve a better result was the goal, right?

    kinda skewed the 0-60 comparison. stock you guys short shifted and reached 60mph in 3rd gear. with the tune youve reached 60mph in 2nd gear. hence the 1sec off. unless the tune changed rpm redline. but still. even if it changed the rpm redline... stock tune should be 0-57mph or w.e speed it tops out at vs. 0-60mpg for the increased redline. if so.

    • @boostcontrolledperformance1523

      They aren't skewed, those are the actual results. "Hence the 1 sec off". The car picked up a considerable amount of torque and horsepower, are you suggesting that has nothing to do with it?

      @@red-bd3mc he mentioned that redline is raised on his tune, with some common sense you'd figure the rest of it out. as far as your auto reviewer comparison goes, that's complete bs. last gen all the reviewers would compare 0-60 on wrx vs sti and it was common knowledge that the sti had to shift 3 times to reach 60 and it made it slower to 60 in most of the test because of it. i've never seen a review that did 0-56 because of shifts lol

    Why do people act like changing fuels is not a huge deal? Not every area has access to flex fuels and you still have to install a kit…oh yeah just change to E85 you’ll make way more power no big deal…

    • @boostcontrolledperformance1523
      @boostcontrolledperformance1523  หลายเดือนก่อน

      For clarification, no flex kit is needed (or available for this platform) to run ethanol blend. You can add the sensor to aid in knowing your exact ethanol content. If you use your same perspective on it being a big deal and not understanding that to some it's not, if you flip this logic around: For many who have access it is indeed not a big deal and they might ask why someone like you thinks it IS big deal, lol.
      When you can gain significant power from just putting different fuel in, many people(including ourselves) would argue this is the easiest way to pick up power.
