    i have 4.10s in my 2000 and i love it. i have 5 speed so im running around 21-22 mpg with it which is pretty good in my opinion. im hoping to be able to make it push some more hp here soon in the future. and cruising at around 60 with the 5 speed im sitting a little below 2k rpm

    I put 4.10s in a crown victoria. Really gave some life to that heavy car without spending too much. That being said, I didnt drive too many miles at the time, and the highest speed limit near me is 60mph. If you do a lot of driving or if you have 70mph highways around I would not recommend doing it to your daily.

    Rule of thumb for me on SN95 or Edge body Mustangs in 4:10 for manuals and 4:30 for autos. Don't fear the gear 96GT convertible with 4:30's still cruised 65mph at something like 1600 rpm, interstate cruising at 85 mph still easy as could be. I wish I'd actually gone 4:56's on that car.

    With an 04 Procharged 4.6 32 valve Mach 1, 5 speed manual I'd properly say no. I have 4.10 gears in it and IMO it's way too short of a gear. You'll blow your tires off in first and second gear and makes a dig useless. I also had 3.55 gears in a Vortech supercharged 94 5.0, 5 speed manual and those were just about perfect. IMO for the 03/04 standard transmission Mach 1 I'd say leave the stock 3.55's or go to a 3.73, but 4.10's are a bit much if you daily drive it or go on longer trips. It's not terrible, at 70 mph my RPMs are at 2350. You do go through the gears very quickly though. I can't speak for the 4.6 2 valves, just the 32 valve DOHC and the pushrod 5.0.

    • @nothanks1627

      I can speak for the 2v, non boosted, 3.55 best all around. If you like buying tires and gas 4.10's is your ticket

    Ive had 3.27, 3.73 and 4.10 in the same car. I have a bolt on's, custom tuned 5 speed. 4.10 is awesome if you dont care about racing on the interstate. If you have good traction (I'm running toyo proxes 315/30/19) then it will launch you like a rocket

    Thats what happens when you got a 4 spd slushbox. 4.10’s in a 5 speed is a lot more noticeable. The forums are right. The gearing gives you much more wheel torque. And it’s quite cheap for the amount of power you’re getting.

    This is actually one of the cars I want to get on the new channel really badly- specifically to show how much of a difference 4.10's make on a stock or mild bolt on *automatic* 4.6. Factory stock autos run a low 15sec 1/4 mile- 4.10's should knock almost a full second off of that time...

    • @CarGuyV8
      @CarGuyV8  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some of the automatics do run a low 15 high 14(usually driver or altitude related) but some are faster from the factory. My brother has a bone stock 02 automatic that is just faster than it should be. It chirps the tires going into 2nd at wot and pulls hard for a 2v. No doubt in my mind that it would be a 14 flat car. It’ll beat mine even with my gears and exhaust work done. My engine has around the same mileage too.

    I'm going to ask a stupid question. I have a 1999 Ford Mustang GT, automatic. It has 3.27 gears...going to change to 4.10. Keeping the same tires. Should this make any difference as far as the speedometer reading? I would think that as long as I run the same tires, there should be no difference.

    • @CarGuyV8
      @CarGuyV8  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The speed sensor is in the transmission, not the differential in new edges. The computer will see the higher rpm that the transmission is turning and think your car is going faster than it is. You’ll need a computer tune to make the speedometer read accurately.
