As a kid, I remember thinking the SD series was kinda dumb and too cartoony. Little did I realize that in my 30s, I would go back and enjoy that exact dumb cartooniness.
Since I wasn’t much influenced by the big daddy models, I went into the SD versions much easier than most. Genuinely doesn’t bother me

when i was a kid i really avoid watching SD gundam anime cuz it not interested knowing i dont understand gundam story cuz it all about politic.
My favorite non RPG Gundam game was Gundam 0079 Rise From the Ashes on Dreamcast. It was a first person shooter that put you in the cockpit of a mobile suit and it had tactical elements because you led a squad of 3. I would absolutely love a game like the come out.... it would be the perfect kind of game for PSVR.

I remember playing the demo for this in a store. Never had a Dreamcast but absolutely loved it. Agree that they should have made a game like that in current gen consoles or PC.

I really think it's a missed opportunity to do full scale of gundam rather than SD style. But it seems that you can pilot Zaku is always a bonus to me. Gundams are for teenage boys, real men pilot zakus!
Personally I prefer the chibi SD look

Thank you for bringing up points that I've noticed in this the bosses are so hard and it's so hard to perfect guard them that at times I feel like I'm playing SD dark souls
Thanks for the nice review! I'm a bit on the fence.. might wait for a discount. This would've been an instant buy for me if it had local co-op since co-op seems to be where the real fun is. I don't understand why that's not included if the Dynasty Warriors Gundam games had split screen with waaaaay more action on screen.
I'm 43 and still enjoy playing video games a lot. I kinda like this cartoony look, small characters battling it out. Also like this style on turn based jrpgs. Nice video btw.
Great game so far . Was able to get the preorder bonus . Wish the beer can looking missiles had a epic lock on function . There is a semi looking finish move when you hold down the Y button it cuts the enemy robot in half in slow mo . Definitely feels like you’re ice-skating while shooting 🤖

The Gundam multiverse is very humongous imo and can be a little bit daunting for newcomers

One of my few gripes is lack of antagonist suits, like Virsago/Ashtaron (those two are a match, can’t separate the Frost bros), literal Satan and Sieg Zeon, Gottrlatan (I think victory has only 1 rep?)
Gundam wing is always my favorite in the franchise just wish they added more than just zero and epyon

I am a simple man I see Gundam i click. i don't even need to see the game or try it. Gundam forever!
Be cautious if you buy the physical copy outside of your region. You can play it but you will not be able to play future dlc unless you create a new PSN or switch account for that region.
For the Switch, it’s just depends, a lot of the time they are compatible with one another without issue of region and I suspect this to be the case for Gundam since I think the Japanese version is the exact version of the European/US digital release. If not, though, at least it only takes about 5 minutes to set up a regional account
@@SwitchWatch That could be true. But of course none of those trophies or progression will match up with your account you actually use. That's the only bummer. I live in Japan so I've been through the no dlc working for physical copies quite often

I pretty much share your views here esp the girls talking exposition in a middle of a fight. It was kinda irritating since they take up space on the screen. Might get the pc version after im done with the switch version. Thanks for the review. 🍻🤖🍻

I just got this game. Combat is awesome but I wish the voice acting was in English because its impossible to read the dialogue during active combat so I have no idea how the story is progressing 😢...but awesome game nonetheless!

I'm enjoying SD Gundam alot so far. Just wish it had a few more mobile suits in each series. Especially Gundam Wing and G Gundam. I do think Namco should have reduced the price alittle for being digital only.
Please tell me it has Death Scythe and Heavy Arms.
@@Wiggleattacks Sadly no. They only have two mobile suits from both G Gundam and Gundam Wing (Burning/Master Gundam and Wing Zero/Epyon).
Hopefully the sequel gives us the entire Gundam Wing lineup. :(

Would be a fun game if it had a pause button, especially on PC.
The SD Series in my opinion was made so the company could appeal to wider audience such as kids , and keep the Franchise going with the new generation
Ah I assumed it was to make all the suits look more uniform and around the same size kinda thing.
Didn't make sense to me that in playing the "true timeline," you're still playing as a random Gundam or Zaku that wasn't actually present for the real event.
Honestly I'm not a fan of chibi characters but at least the normal art looks normal I'm sure I'll get use to it.

playing it for 5 hours so far and its pretty fun and kinda getting hard for my underleveled Gundam😅 But I'm disappointed that my favourite Gundam like Strike Gundam/Perfect Strike Gundam, Wing Gundam Zero EW are not in it...

The plot of any gundam game barely makes sense! So that wont put me off! Great review by the way!
In summary, it's amazing for Gundam nerds and just okay for Gundam newbies.

looks like the first gundam game ever that has actual good gameplay that resembles the pace of the shows and not slow clunky garbage like the rest
Mind you the original gundam series show were slow and clunky, in the games makes it feel like ur actually piloting a giant 100 ton mech
Maxi Boost On and the other Extreme Versus games aren't clunky at all.

I can't be the only one who's struggling extremely hard with the terrible "lock on" mechanics. THE ENEMY IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME AND MY CHARACTER WILL AIM AT RANDOM GARBAGE BEHIND ME
Yeah the lock on sucks but i guesd the trick is dont move ur camera just go straight to who are u locked on with especially if ur attacking so it wont change target as much but it will still at times but atleast u can kind of prevent it.
No PvP killed it for me.
