I bought a frontier in 22’. I was between the Nissan and the gladiator. If dealers weren’t up charging like crazy I would’ve got the jeep. Love my Nissan, no regrets, plan on keeping it for 20+ years. Feels like it’ll last for sure.
Depends on what you’re looking for. Daily driving/occasional off roading the Frontier is probably easier to live with. Obviously if you off road alot the Galdiator is the truck to buy. i went with the Pro4X because i got 20% off and honestly, fell in love with it after driving it. it’s a 3rd gen Tacoma with all it’s flaws(which are many) fixed.
Very well said and agree 100%. I hope they don't change the frontier for many years. In times we live in today we need something that is old school solid and reliable.
im on the nissan website every other day and have been for the past 2 years since the refresh. Their prices always fluctuate, and im talking some times 4k plus when they have deals. they go up and they go down. you just have to watch the prices. i was waiting for the 25 seems how we might be close for those before i make a decision. SO THEY HAVE DEALS AND YOU CAN BARGIN EVEN FURTHER.
Yep that's a big advantage to both of these. They are both highly negotiable. But the frontier deals can be off the charts amazing if you work em good.
Another great video Jason. I'm starting to really warm up to the Frontier Pro 4x. I had been strongly looking at Colorado ZR2 or the Canyon At4 but had decided to wait to see how the 23 total refresh was rolling out.Sure glad I waited. The Colorado/ Canyon forums are rife with purchaser issues. I hunt and fish lots but getting older so not needing an extreme offroad truck but something that's capable of getting me back in bush and out while still offering comfort on the road. The Pro 4x looks like it meets the bill.I will wait until fall as I hear its getting a mild refresh so I want to see what changes. On another note are your hunting videos on TH-cam? Yep I would always recommend avoiding fist year or 2 of a new vehicle. The colorado and canyon have faired very well for a new first year. But will get better in a year or 2 as all the kinks and bugs get worked out. Thats what makes the frontier so great, its old, simple, and proven. In todays world of high tech and disposable, I like old and simple and proven. My hunting channel is @tradbowpodcast on youtube. Its loaded with Traditional bowhunting and hunting info. My actual "hunting videos" that I make as hunting vlogs weekly showing all my hunts are actually on my patreon channel that I charge 15 bucks a month for. Started doing that when youtube cracked down on showing animals harvested, processed, cooked etc. That links to both the youtube channel and the patreon channel are in the descriptions of all of my videos here.
Just got the 2024 Pro 4X and so far I really like it, very comfortable and quiet ride. Only a few minor complaints that i can live with..one being, no telescopic steering wheel, no power passenger seat, and no power folding mirrors. Very minor, but for the top of the line Frontier, these items should have been standard. I've had Ford, GMC,Jeep, and Chevy over the years, and they all had their problems at one time or another. It all breaks down to how well you take care of them, and service them when needed. One of the main reasons I purchased the Frontier was simplicity, I didnt want a laptop sized monitor sitting on my dash, we have enough distractions nowadays as it is going down the road, and I wanted a reliable V6 engine with enough power to pull my boat trailer, and haul whatever I need for the yard in the bed of the truck. If I happen to go off road, I feel confident this truck will do just fine. Also, the price for this Frontier Pro 4X was well below all its competitors in the midsized class.
I have heard that jeep dealerships can be very hit or miss for service. Honestly no personal experience. With the 8 or 9 jeeps and rams I've owned I have never once had to take them in for service other than oil changes. So my experience with getting repairs done on a jeep is zero.
I agree most negative aspect of owning an FCA product is the dealership service experience. I have weird issues like loose leaking radiator hose immediately after being in, told it’s a coincidence but as a technical inclined person I don’t believe it could have been loose for 15-30k and suddenly started to leak 😮. Absolutely love my gladiator, just like Jason said it’s miles of smiles. Was interested in the frontier as well but can bring myself to purchase another Nissan, vehicle wasn’t that bad but had issues the dealer brought up to the factory rep who was an absolute @$$ to me.

2 amazing trucks designed for different purposes. But with are excellent choices for anyone looking for a long term affordable to own truck. You couldn't pry my gladiator out of my hands. Best truck I've ever owned for my lifestyle. But would own a frontier in a heart beat if I was not buried in the swamps 300 miles a week.
I'm trying to negotiate on a new Frontier 6' SV. Around here (N.E.) dealers are trying to sell just below invoice and a 1500. rebate. There's no big $ off around here. I'm going to check the Frontier Forums.
If the Frontier’s back seat weren’t so straight up I’d already own one..waiting to see if there’s any improvement in 2025 with their slight upgrades..doubtful though
Thats what i am holding out for. if it's going to be too uncomfortable for family or friends then I might as well just get the king cab or consider another brand.
I love the Ridgeline. Ive said so in comments on your vids. BUT,,, it does have a transverse motor and transaxle due to front wheel drive drive design/architecture and a timing belt. That sounds more fragile than a Frontier. There are even sites that suggest replacing trans fluid every 30k miles
I love your channel and your videos but on this one I would have to agree to disagree. If I had to choose between these 2 I would definitely choose the Frontier, there is a lot lacking in the Frontier feature wise and tech wise but Jeep quality, QC from the manufacturer and the abysmal resale value is a deal breaker for me, todays Jeeps are WAY overpriced for what you get and the NEVER hold their value, the cabin is tight and cramped.
Frontier is a great truck. I think though, if you looked into the gladiator cabin size and space and storage as well as jeep true quality and the actual resale value you would be shocked. Statistically jeep wins on the cabin size, back seat room, storage and resale value. But those are just stats. What's most important is witch truck fits your needs, wants, and lifestyle better. And sounds like that's the frontier for you. And I bet it is for most people. Can't go wrong with either
JEEP resale is one of the best. Not sure what you're talking about. I own one and don't really care for the QC, drive train etc but I bought it 2 years old just because I knew I could resell it easily. As long as you use a JEEP to do do JEEP things there's nothing else like it. The rude quality is one step behind horse and buggy. At least the pre 2018 JKs are.
@@rndsommer40 My 2023 Gladiator Rubicon has exceptional ride quality, and road noise is actually at least as good as my 2014 Grand Cherokee I traded for it.
@vertstang123 I haven't driven one yet. Bought my used 2017 JKU in 2019. Still have it. 4 or 5 hours in it is tiring. Live 2 miles from the ocean and use it off road in the sand. Never let's me down. I've seen numerous trucks buried to the frame in loose sand but never any Jeeps.
@DUNEATV same here. Owned 4 wranglers, 3 other jeeps and a ram 2500. And now the gladiator. Never once have any of them went to the shop for anything. Not once. Only brand I can say that about. Owned 9 f150s. 4 of witch had at one time or another made me call a tow truck. One that caught on fire and burned to the ground. Chevy Never left me stranded but was in the shop a few times for warranty. And my 22 tacoma was statistically the worst truck I've ever owned repair and value wise.
I would just pick the frontier for peace of mind. Having multiple i have never been in the position where i would walk up and wonder if one would start. Never even crossed my mind. Never been in the position of wondering if it would some how leave me stranded. Thought never crossed my mind. I just never "worried" about it. At all. Even wrapped one around a tree once it still started... Like in a v. A" V". The thing still started. I was holy chit! No way! I complained about them various things. But never questioned if they' would run. It's one of those vehicles you might actually get to the point you wished it die. But then it starts up... Like always.
I honestly like both trucks for my needs and the money I would probably go for the Pro4x but I also love the gladiator but for the money the pro would work for me. As an FYI I had a JK Wrangler and now have a JL Wrangler and had zero problems with both. The JK had over 100,000 miles and the JL has 68,000 and counting. Last point I want to make is I bought a 2024 Maverick Tremor Lariat sole reason is it was 40k I only drive 2 miles a day with a weekly dump run which is 3 miles with an occasional trip to the city, Boston, where I have to park it which is easier in a Maverick. Do I think it will last 300,000 miles no but I'm 71 and unless I get bored it unfortunately is the last vehicle I'll ever buy. With the orange tow hooks and the slight lift the Tremor is bad ass enough for me at the moment. But if I get bored I at least have two choices unless Jeep and Nissan go to the dark side 4 cylinder turbo or worse full electric.
One small miss, cockpit visibility. The Gladiator takes the cake out of all midsize trucks. I still hold on to the notion, these are by far the best options in the midsize truck world for the average midsize truck owners needs. I will likely be purchasing Frontiers for my company service trucks, and keeping the Gladiators for personal needs.
We tow a small camper (2,900 lbs loaded) and haul camping gear. I want 4wd, but towing/hauling is more important than off-roading. I like all the midsize trucks, but have eliminated the Taco and Frontier due to a lack of real world payload. Max payload is an advertising gimmick. I have yet to see a new Taco with more than 1,200 lbs of payload. I just looked at a Frontier today; SV with 4WD (no tow package???) and it only had 1,320 lobs of payload. I want 1,500 lbs of payload in a crew cab 4wd/AWD configuration. I can do that with the Ranger, GM twins, Gladiator (Sport S with max tow package) and the Ridgeline. I am a Frontier fan, but it does not do what I need it to do.
Yep i can understand less payload in the offeoad models like we see in all other manufacturers do to the softer suspension and height. Bit not sure why nissan non off roaders don't get better tow and payload.
Here is the only rule that matters when it comes to flipping a truck or car every 2 years. "Get the best deal when you buy". That's it. That's the only thing that matters. Let's say you buy a new truck at msrp and then in 2 years you sell it and loose 8k. If you bought it for 9k under msrp then did the same you actually make money when you sell it 2 years later. Buy low, buy low, buy low. And if you can not, move on to a different vehicle that you can.
I bought my rubicon JLU in nov 2020 and wanted to trade for a Gladiator this summer. They offered me not enough for the trade in i would have loss 40k which i paid during 3.5 years. So i kept my JLU 😂😅
@nomadoverlander847 always best to sell it privately. And also get trade prices from multiple dealers and research what nada and Kelly blue book say it's worth when talking to dealers.
@@nomadoverlander847 will be easier to sell privately if you get it to the point you dont owe a loan on it still. And selling it privately takes it out of the equation of the negotiations on the new gladiator. That will help you make deals without the dealer trying to tie your hands up in the trade value.
Never thought I’d see the day where nissan makes the best truck on the market in my opinion. Ps. 14:58 the frontier has full torque vectoring via brake modulation just like a-trac while in 4 low.
It says it does have torque vectoring traction control. But on the frontier is not very good from all the tests and videos I've seen. But that's OK! 2 pedal driving will accomplish the same thing
Umm. Other than a period with Renault. The frontier has been up there most of the last.. decades.. But comfort and such. No... Just no. This last generation has been a improvement in comfort. The earlier frontiers the seats would about kill you. Like riding on a board. But far as reliability. You'd wish it would die. But it just won't
I know atleast 15 people with 21 and new wranglers and gladiators and not one has ever had an issue. I've personally owned 9 jeeps and ram trucks and never once ever had one go I to the shop for anything. Many racked up some high miles too. Today in 2024, compared to what else is new in 2024, jeep reliability is outstanding. And even if something does break, parts are available quick and it's cheap to fix (again comparatively).
@@Jason-Samko I drive my Gladiator like Grandpa going to church I don’t beat on it only put 7,900 miles on it since acquiring in August 2022 I don’t expect any problems “3.6” jeep engine is multipoint fuel injection don’t have to be concerned with carbon buildup on intake valves.
@MrJEEPJT the 3.6 has been out for 14 years and is in 12 million vehicles. Yes it had problems 10 years ago, even 8 years ago. But today it's one of the most reliable motors available
I’d like to comment, I have a 2022 Nissan Frontier as a company vehicle and my “PERSONAL” vehicle is a 2022 Gladiator. The Frontier is a King Cab “SV” with a “ARE” Fiberglass Cap. Received this truck new in March 2022 with “50” miles on odometer as of today 6/9/24 at “57,350” oil changes have all been done at 5,000-5,800 miles. The frontier has definitely got some get up and go. The “9” speed automatic transmission seems like a dumb idea if I’m on the highway in “CRUISE” control mode whether set to 55, 60, or 65 mph I watch the tachometer Move the shift lever to the left dash indicates truck is in 8th gear….I manually shift it to “9th” tachometer immediately drops to indicate lower rpm’s the moment I put shifter back to automatic it kicks out of “9th” back to “8th” tachometer rpm’s rise the Transmission “NEVER” stays in “9th” gear no matter what… I have done this in cruise control set at “55” 60” & “65” mph and also with the cruise control not activated. My Gladiator will go to 8th gear and stay there unless the road conditions change. Seems to me like a “9” speed transmission more gears stuffed into a fixed case every internal component is smaller.🤔🤔🤔 At some point the intake valves will be fouled up with carbon deposits in the future.
Drive them both for prolonged periods at 85mph and you'll see the difference. I regularly do 85mph all the way through Idaho and even then my Rav4 still doesn't want to cruise in 8th gear which tells me it can efficiently cruise at even higher sustained speeds. Frontier will do a good job on extended high speed highway driving, and the Gladiator isn't designed for that purpose so much, nor should it be.

Id argue the frontier is more ideal for offroad because its breakover angle is better. Biggest problem with gladiator is the length. Mojave doesnt offer really any advantage vs pro4x like a rubicon would.
Breakover can be easily improved on the Gladiator. With a 3.5-inch lift, proper wheel offset and stubby front bumper you can put 39-inch tire on a Gladiator. Try to do that with the Frontier. Of course you better get 1-ton axles too on the Gladiator but there are many crate axles available. To be fair tge Nissan Frontier is also pretty modifiable because the old Nissan Titan axles and suspension components bolt right up but still less choice than for Gladiator. The Gladiator has Dynatrac, Currie, Fusion 4x4, Ultimate Dana and a few other 1-ton crate axle choices that are legitimately different specs.
@@Jason-Samko naturally aspirated is huge but having a manual transmission as an option along with being able to transform the vehicle Jeep wins !! Of course needs and lifestyle and price are taken in consideration but overall in its totality Jeep has it hands down !!
Oh for more information that I didn’t get to add into previous comments the auto repair service shop my boss has all the company vehicles serviced and maintenance done, the owner of that shop did express concern to my boss that a catch can would be a good idea due to the carbon fouling potential of engines that are direct injection only, my boss declined. In “2022” frontier models power locking tailgate was not included with power door locks even on “SV” it was an up-charge $$$ kind of penny pinching on Nissans part I have to use a key to unlock the tailgate👎👎 maybe that changes in the later model years. Now here is a “MASSIVE” lesson to Nissan They should “HEED” to grab Market share as far as being “COST” conscious is concerned to pinch Penny’s “KING-CAB” models across “ALL” Trim levels just get rid of those jump seats 💺 not available period it’s just extra storage space that’s it. Toyota called it “UTILITY-DELETE” base model on previous generation. Make “ALL” the King-Cab Trims “UTILITY-DELETE” no back seats great way to save money 💰 💴 💵 you want/need back seats purchase a crew cab model.

The nissan has inch bigger tires than a stock 23 tr or. That means .5 inch (ish) more ground clearance at the diff than tacoma. The 3rd gen taco is 9.5. So the frontier 9.8 would make sense to be a legit number
It's definitely not. Mine is about 9" in front and just over 9.5" at the rear diff. Not exact numbers though. I wouldn't believe any of these "official" ground clearance numbers.
Ive owned 2 Jeeps. Ill never own another. Biggest pieces of crap ive ever owned. As soon as the warranty was done so were the vehicles. Wife's Cherokee literally started falling apart at 38k.
Reliability king, so what the heck a jeep is doing here. Cause is v6 with no turbos doesn't mean is reliable. Better a Ridgeline even people say isn't a real truck
Also where I live, to buy a top of the line Pro-4X they are going for high 48k to 52k which is insane for what they offer, Very disappointed that Nissan has not put its best tech and updated features in its top of the line midsized Frontier Pro-4X, they are still using hydraulic steering with an abysmal turning radious, Come on Nissan, no lane keep assist, tight cramped and loud cabin , it is like they are throwing scraps at this outdated design on purpose, is Nissan going to discontinue and abandon the Frontier like they just did the Titan? Nissan is not even trying to keep up with the rest of the ever changing midsize market, The best thing about this Frontier is the bullet proof naturally aspirated V6 and the 9 speed transmission, if you drift too far behind you will eventually get left behind.
With the frontier it's worth shopping multiple dealers in multiple states. They have some great deals in some places and not so great in many others, like you mentioned. And your right, the simple stuff of the frontier that people will complain about is what makes it such a reliable truck. Simple, old and proven will always be more reliable.
But in all reality the 3.6 pentistar is one of the most reliable and proven motors available today. Less than a .04% failure rate and over 14 million of them on the road right now. I love the pentistar and I love the quality of jeep. Owned many, and will buy more in the future.
Not a chance for new NA Toyota engine. Zilch. It’s simply that turbos have better EPA emission numbers. As a matter of fact I am certain that if there is another generation of Gladiator and Frontier they will be turbos too. Same for the Ridgeline. Think about it, there should be a reason why Ford, GM, and Toyota all went to 4-banger turbos from NA V6 and 6-banger turbos from NA V8 (including RAM now). And the reason isn’t that all these companies have m0r0ns working in their design teams and HQs. It’s government regulation. Plain and simple.

My Nissan Murano was stolen a couple days ago and im looking at the Jeep or the pro4x I ts a toss up , ive been leaning on the Nissan

Back seat is very vertical. But not bad unless on long trips. But that is a fantastic point to consider

I think the Ridgeline is great. I know 3 people with them that have racked up some serious miles with very little trouble
Another bummer for the Frontier, is if you want the Pro-4X, you’re forced to get a 4 door, it’d be cool to get one with a King Cab

I love your channel and your videos but on this one I would have to agree to disagree. If I had to choose between these 2 I would definitely choose the Frontier, there is a lot lacking in the Frontier feature wise and tech wise but Jeep quality, QC from the manufacturer and the abysmal resale value is a deal breaker for me, todays Jeeps are WAY overpriced for what you get and the NEVER hold their value, the cabin is tight and cramped.
Frontier is a great truck. I think though, if you looked into the gladiator cabin size and space and storage as well as jeep true quality and the actual resale value you would be shocked. Statistically jeep wins on the cabin size, back seat room, storage and resale value. But those are just stats. What's most important is witch truck fits your needs, wants, and lifestyle better. And sounds like that's the frontier for you. And I bet it is for most people. Can't go wrong with either
JEEP resale is one of the best. Not sure what you're talking about. I own one and don't really care for the QC, drive train etc but I bought it 2 years old just because I knew I could resell it easily. As long as you use a JEEP to do do JEEP things there's nothing else like it. The rude quality is one step behind horse and buggy. At least the pre 2018 JKs are.
@@rndsommer40 My 2023 Gladiator Rubicon has exceptional ride quality, and road noise is actually at least as good as my 2014 Grand Cherokee I traded for it.
Both my 2021 Jeep Rubicon and my 2024 Jeep Rubicon are built very solid. Quality materials and just tight as a drum. Very impressive vehicle.
@vertstang123 I haven't driven one yet. Bought my used 2017 JKU in 2019. Still have it. 4 or 5 hours in it is tiring. Live 2 miles from the ocean and use it off road in the sand. Never let's me down. I've seen numerous trucks buried to the frame in loose sand but never any Jeeps.

@DUNEATV same here. Owned 4 wranglers, 3 other jeeps and a ram 2500. And now the gladiator. Never once have any of them went to the shop for anything. Not once. Only brand I can say that about. Owned 9 f150s. 4 of witch had at one time or another made me call a tow truck. One that caught on fire and burned to the ground. Chevy Never left me stranded but was in the shop a few times for warranty. And my 22 tacoma was statistically the worst truck I've ever owned repair and value wise.
I bought the 23 frontier that wad my choice
I wish the new Frontier still came with a Manual Transmission, such a bummer.

I would just pick the frontier for peace of mind. Having multiple i have never been in the position where i would walk up and wonder if one would start. Never even crossed my mind. Never been in the position of wondering if it would some how leave me stranded. Thought never crossed my mind. I just never "worried" about it. At all. Even wrapped one around a tree once it still started... Like in a v. A" V". The thing still started. I was holy chit! No way!
I complained about them various things. But never questioned if they' would run. It's one of those vehicles you might actually get to the point you wished it die. But then it starts up... Like always.
Between those two options I would go with the Frontier.
Frontier is amazing
I honestly like both trucks for my needs and the money I would probably go for the Pro4x but I also love the gladiator but for the money the pro would work for me.
As an FYI I had a JK Wrangler and now have a JL Wrangler and had zero problems with both.
The JK had over 100,000 miles and the JL has 68,000 and counting.
Last point I want to make is I bought a 2024 Maverick Tremor Lariat sole reason is it was 40k I only drive 2 miles a day with a weekly dump run which is 3 miles with an occasional trip to the city, Boston, where I have to park it which is easier in a Maverick.
Do I think it will last 300,000 miles no but I'm 71 and unless I get bored it unfortunately is the last vehicle I'll ever buy.
With the orange tow hooks and the slight lift the Tremor is bad ass enough for me at the moment.
But if I get bored I at least have two choices unless Jeep and Nissan go to the dark side 4 cylinder turbo or worse full electric.

One small miss, cockpit visibility. The Gladiator takes the cake out of all midsize trucks. I still hold on to the notion, these are by far the best options in the midsize truck world for the average midsize truck owners needs. I will likely be purchasing Frontiers for my company service trucks, and keeping the Gladiators for personal needs.
Excellent point I did forget to mention. The view from the gladiator is unmatched and amazing!
We tow a small camper (2,900 lbs loaded) and haul camping gear. I want 4wd, but towing/hauling is more important than off-roading. I like all the midsize trucks, but have eliminated the Taco and Frontier due to a lack of real world payload. Max payload is an advertising gimmick. I have yet to see a new Taco with more than 1,200 lbs of payload. I just looked at a Frontier today; SV with 4WD (no tow package???) and it only had 1,320 lobs of payload. I want 1,500 lbs of payload in a crew cab 4wd/AWD configuration. I can do that with the Ranger, GM twins, Gladiator (Sport S with max tow package) and the Ridgeline. I am a Frontier fan, but it does not do what I need it to do.
Yep i can understand less payload in the offeoad models like we see in all other manufacturers do to the softer suspension and height. Bit not sure why nissan non off roaders don't get better tow and payload.

Here is the only rule that matters when it comes to flipping a truck or car every 2 years. "Get the best deal when you buy". That's it. That's the only thing that matters.
Let's say you buy a new truck at msrp and then in 2 years you sell it and loose 8k. If you bought it for 9k under msrp then did the same you actually make money when you sell it 2 years later. Buy low, buy low, buy low. And if you can not, move on to a different vehicle that you can.
I bought my rubicon JLU in nov 2020 and wanted to trade for a Gladiator this summer. They offered me not enough for the trade in i would have loss 40k which i paid during 3.5 years.
So i kept my JLU 😂😅
@nomadoverlander847 always best to sell it privately. And also get trade prices from multiple dealers and research what nada and Kelly blue book say it's worth when talking to dealers.
My best move would be to keep it one or two years more to reduce the depreciation curve and then buy the glad if i still want it
@@nomadoverlander847 will be easier to sell privately if you get it to the point you dont owe a loan on it still. And selling it privately takes it out of the equation of the negotiations on the new gladiator. That will help you make deals without the dealer trying to tie your hands up in the trade value.
Never thought I’d see the day where nissan makes the best truck on the market in my opinion.
Ps. 14:58 the frontier has full torque vectoring via brake modulation just like a-trac while in 4 low.
It says it does have torque vectoring traction control. But on the frontier is not very good from all the tests and videos I've seen. But that's OK! 2 pedal driving will accomplish the same thing
Umm. Other than a period with Renault. The frontier has been up there most of the last.. decades..
But comfort and such. No... Just no. This last generation has been a improvement in comfort. The earlier frontiers the seats would about kill you. Like riding on a board. But far as reliability. You'd wish it would die. But it just won't
The vast majority of Jeep owners I've known have all had endless issues, and failures threw multiple generations..
I know atleast 15 people with 21 and new wranglers and gladiators and not one has ever had an issue. I've personally owned 9 jeeps and ram trucks and never once ever had one go I to the shop for anything. Many racked up some high miles too. Today in 2024, compared to what else is new in 2024, jeep reliability is outstanding. And even if something does break, parts are available quick and it's cheap to fix (again comparatively).
@@Jason-Samko I drive my Gladiator like Grandpa going to church I don’t beat on it only put 7,900 miles on it since acquiring in August 2022 I don’t expect any problems “3.6” jeep engine is multipoint fuel injection don’t have to be concerned with carbon buildup on intake valves.
@MrJEEPJT the 3.6 has been out for 14 years and is in 12 million vehicles. Yes it had problems 10 years ago, even 8 years ago. But today it's one of the most reliable motors available

I’d like to comment, I have a 2022 Nissan Frontier as a company vehicle and my “PERSONAL” vehicle is a 2022 Gladiator. The Frontier is a King Cab “SV” with a “ARE” Fiberglass Cap. Received this truck new in March 2022 with “50” miles on odometer as of today 6/9/24 at
“57,350” oil changes have all been done at 5,000-5,800 miles. The frontier has definitely got some get up and go. The “9” speed automatic transmission seems like a dumb idea if I’m on the highway in “CRUISE” control mode whether set to 55, 60, or 65 mph I watch the tachometer
Move the shift lever to the left dash indicates truck is in 8th gear….I manually shift it to “9th” tachometer immediately drops to indicate lower rpm’s the moment I put shifter back to automatic it kicks out of “9th” back to “8th” tachometer rpm’s rise the Transmission “NEVER” stays in
“9th” gear no matter what… I have done this in cruise control set at “55” 60” & “65” mph and also with the cruise control not activated.
My Gladiator will go to 8th gear and stay there unless the road conditions change. Seems to me like a “9” speed transmission more gears stuffed into a fixed case every internal component is smaller.🤔🤔🤔 At some point the intake valves will be fouled up with carbon deposits in the future.

Drive them both for prolonged periods at 85mph and you'll see the difference. I regularly do 85mph all the way through Idaho and even then my Rav4 still doesn't want to cruise in 8th gear which tells me it can efficiently cruise at even higher sustained speeds. Frontier will do a good job on extended high speed highway driving, and the Gladiator isn't designed for that purpose so much, nor should it be.

Id argue the frontier is more ideal for offroad because its breakover angle is better. Biggest problem with gladiator is the length. Mojave doesnt offer really any advantage vs pro4x like a rubicon would.
Break over is nearly identical on both
Breakover can be easily improved on the Gladiator. With a 3.5-inch lift, proper wheel offset and stubby front bumper you can put 39-inch tire on a Gladiator. Try to do that with the Frontier. Of course you better get 1-ton axles too on the Gladiator but there are many crate axles available. To be fair tge Nissan Frontier is also pretty modifiable because the old Nissan Titan axles and suspension components bolt right up but still less choice than for Gladiator. The Gladiator has Dynatrac, Currie, Fusion 4x4, Ultimate Dana and a few other 1-ton crate axle choices that are legitimately different specs.

Oh for more information that I didn’t get to add into previous comments the auto repair service shop my boss has all the company vehicles serviced and maintenance done, the owner of that shop did express concern to my boss that a catch can would be a good idea due to the carbon fouling potential of engines that are direct injection only, my boss declined.
In “2022” frontier models power locking tailgate was not included with power door locks even on “SV” it was an up-charge $$$ kind of penny pinching on Nissans part I have to use a key to unlock the tailgate👎👎 maybe that changes in the later model years.
Now here is a “MASSIVE” lesson to Nissan They should “HEED” to grab Market share as far as being “COST” conscious is concerned to pinch Penny’s “KING-CAB” models across “ALL” Trim levels just get rid of those jump seats 💺 not available period it’s just extra storage space that’s it. Toyota called it “UTILITY-DELETE” base model on previous generation.
Make “ALL” the King-Cab Trims “UTILITY-DELETE” no back seats great way to save money 💰 💴 💵 you want/need back seats purchase a crew cab model.

Honestly, looking their past marketing and market share it seems to me that Nissan never learns anything.
I can't see the Nissan actually having anywhere near 9.8 '' of ground clearance. I had one sitting next to my 2023 TRD OR and it was noticeably lower.
The nissan has inch bigger tires than a stock 23 tr or. That means .5 inch (ish) more ground clearance at the diff than tacoma. The 3rd gen taco is 9.5. So the frontier 9.8 would make sense to be a legit number
It's definitely not. Mine is about 9" in front and just over 9.5" at the rear diff. Not exact numbers though. I wouldn't believe any of these "official" ground clearance numbers.

Jeep has priced them out of reach.

Ive owned 2 Jeeps. Ill never own another. Biggest pieces of crap ive ever owned. As soon as the warranty was done so were the vehicles. Wife's Cherokee literally started falling apart at 38k.
Reliability king, so what the heck a jeep is doing here. Cause is v6 with no turbos doesn't mean is reliable. Better a Ridgeline even people say isn't a real truck

Jeep gladiator will not have a better resale value. Frontier is now #1 for resale value.
Jeep has had amazing resale for 50 years. It will continue to do so
Also where I live, to buy a top of the line Pro-4X they are going for high 48k to 52k which is insane for what they offer, Very disappointed that Nissan has not put its best tech and updated features in its top of the line midsized Frontier Pro-4X, they are still using hydraulic steering with an abysmal turning radious, Come on Nissan, no lane keep assist, tight cramped and loud cabin , it is like they are throwing scraps at this outdated design on purpose, is Nissan going to discontinue and abandon the Frontier like they just did the Titan? Nissan is not even trying to keep up with the rest of the ever changing midsize market, The best thing about this Frontier is the bullet proof naturally aspirated V6 and the 9 speed transmission, if you drift too far behind you will eventually get left behind.
With the frontier it's worth shopping multiple dealers in multiple states. They have some great deals in some places and not so great in many others, like you mentioned. And your right, the simple stuff of the frontier that people will complain about is what makes it such a reliable truck. Simple, old and proven will always be more reliable.

But in all reality the 3.6 pentistar is one of the most reliable and proven motors available today. Less than a .04% failure rate and over 14 million of them on the road right now. I love the pentistar and I love the quality of jeep. Owned many, and will buy more in the future.
I’ll wager that the engineers at Toyota are designing a new NA V6 for the Tacoma at this time. They’d be foolish not too.

Not a chance for new NA Toyota engine. Zilch. It’s simply that turbos have better EPA emission numbers. As a matter of fact I am certain that if there is another generation of Gladiator and Frontier they will be turbos too. Same for the Ridgeline. Think about it, there should be a reason why Ford, GM, and Toyota all went to 4-banger turbos from NA V6 and 6-banger turbos from NA V8 (including RAM now). And the reason isn’t that all these companies have m0r0ns working in their design teams and HQs. It’s government regulation. Plain and simple.
