    When applying Thread locking compound,
    1. clean the threads (make sure they are not contaminated with any residues)
    2. Use the correct type of thread locker compound. (RED - "Large Diameter Bolt")
    3. apply thread locker to the entire surfacer of the bolt, (not just a line or a dab) make sure the entire bolt is covered

    I like your build; I'm running a Mojave rig currently.
    I will agree that the gladiator really needed a dead pedal. I added the Quadratec dead pedal with the pad and it is excellent, makes a huge difference for long drives. It's not cheap, but well worth it.

    I have been running 37" Hankook Dynapro XT on my Gladiator that were installed during covid. I am in AZ and never had them in snow. Extreme heat, rock, sand, and dust have all been ok to very good. I have towed a small trailer to the Canadian border and back. The tires were great and we had no concerns. I had the Wilpeaks before and really liked them but again no experience with snow.

    Rivian R1T Quad motor owner here, I can tell you we got this truck thinking it would be a great added challenge (the EV part) to our camping/overlanding adventures. It has been an amazing vehicle, absolutely solid and reliable (unlike our Rubicon), but after 4 trips we realized we just don't have the stomach to tolerate the risk of damaging a $110k truck. Absolutely fantastic vehicle though, highly recommend it to anyone thinking about it (get the full PPF, is totally worth it).

    • @siebitup
      @siebitup 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I regret not getting full PPF on my GX. I had the hood, front bumper and wheel fairings done, but the doors are where I've gotten the stripes on both sides. I'm hesitant to cut/polish as the clear is probably pretty thin. Ah well. Next vehicle will get it.

      @@chrisE815 Unfortunately we were one of those unlucky ones that had the fuel rail issue in our diesel one. Covered under warranty, went back literally 3 months later due to a particulate sensor (another common issue apparently). 6 months later went back and forth with dealer for a check engine light, they ended up replacing the catalytic converter. Our final issue was in one of our trips the brake master cylinder went out WHILE driving, which was scary. That was the final straw. Mind you, all of this happened under 18k miles, we bought it new and while everything was covered under warranty, our Gladiator sat in the dealership for about 7 months total between all these repairs. Loved the truck when it worked, but awful reliability.

    I believe this as much as I do your "reviews" of the Colorado 4x4 RTTS you did a while back. Gave high praise, got a spot on their website, making everyone think you are a bar of some sort for this thing, got paid, and never used them again.
    So many of these guys that started off humble have very much lost their way, and it's really sad.

    • @JustinBMcBride
      @JustinBMcBride  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry you feel that way. I’m not trying to be deceptive to any viewer. What benefit would that have to you? None.
      The 4X4 Colorado videos on their website are 100% paid overviews of their product. More of an endorsement/overview and not a review. If they titled them as reviews, that is their own decision and not mine.
      4x4 Colorado imports some of the more innovative tent ideas right now. They have flaws, weight being the largest. I think the average weight of their tents is pushing 200 pounds.
      The next is their standard mattress. It’s awful and immediately needs to be replaced with their knockoff Xped, a Hest, or even a bag of rocks to be more comfortable.
      The team is a solid group of humans, they’ve been easy to work with in that they don’t require me to run their tents to talk about them. iKamper on the other hand refuses to talk to me because I have a GFC on the truck.
      I’m sorry your perspective of me is so negative. I’m not here to swindle anybody. But if you disagree with me that strongly, there is little I can do to change it at this point.

      Payload and safety rating are constantly in the back of my mind. While I know the truck isn’t hundreds pounds over payload, I know it’s close. Maybe within 100-150 pounds on either side of the needle.
      Either way, it has me rethinking the way I’m doing things.

    Justin I’m sure you’re getting a lot of hate for your sponsorships. (Hence all the disclaimers). If people don’t know by now it’s just how this content is made. I come here to see the trails and get ideas for my build.
    Keep up the hard work providing for your family and don’t worry about the haters. I’m a big gear nerd too and if I had the chance to “try” so many cool products I would jump on it. As it is I’m content with my ground tent and gas money for the time being.
    Hopefully some day we’ll cross paths and have a cold one around a campfire and talk about cool gear.
    Until then keep posting I love the content sponsored or not 👍🏻

    The biggest issue I have with content these days, such as this, is there's so much fluff. Can we please (and this note is for all creators), cut edit our videos down more? Zero reason this video needs to be 40 minutes. Still, thanks for the content! Just want it shorter...Oh, and I believe you did put locktite on the bolts lol...Jeeps rattle all bolts out eventually haha

      There was a time when 8 minute videos ruled the internet. Anymore the longer the video the better reach it gets. It’s a balance, I agree. But this video didn’t even cover the inside of the truck and what I carry in my decked drawers.
      I appreciate the feedback.

    Well at least your honest which is hard to come by on TH-cam now days. About the EV deal, now I’m gonna be honest. I probably won’t watch that if this becomes an EV only channel because I’m just not in to that nor see myself getting into that.

    • @JustinBMcBride
      @JustinBMcBride  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      How about this, I make the channel less about what I drive and more about the places I go?
      Vehicles are temporary, they change, builds evolve, tastes mature, needs develop. The whole reason my channel isn’t named Wasatch Overland, like it once was, is because I am more than my car and more than my hobbies.
      If you’re not into EVs, that’s fine, but if you’re into adventure and travel, it shouldn’t matter what I drive.
      This will be a major focus shift in the coming year on the channel. Cars are neat, but fleeting. And constantly playing with what I drive to appease trends and the algorithm isn’t healthy.

    You had gone missing for a month and then a month again… I used to love your videos but it seems you came back with a real negative attitude. There’s a fine line between realism and pessimism. I hope you start climbing towards positive vibes! This could be a reason why your newer videos aren’t being viewed so much. You seem like you’re doing this as a job and for the free stuff, not because you LOVE it.

    • @JustinBMcBride
      @JustinBMcBride  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So is this comment real or pessimistic?
      I think you’re right though, I talk about this in a video I’m editing right now. But so much of what I do has become about what I’m driving and not where I’m going. Trip videos tank on my channel, so videos like this are work. These are the ones that pay the bills.
      It’s not about free stuff, it’s about feeding my family. Do you ever have days that you don’t want to go into work but you need to? Me too, even with creating TH-cam content.
      No about my absence, we had a baby! 😀
      That has been a big reason for limited releases and reposting of older deleted videos.

      @@RevereOverland it seems like guardrails are set to stop 5000 pounds and the rivian r1t is 7000 plus all the extras we like to put on them. the video showing the crash test is called "Rivian R1T crash-tested against guardrail"
      some are speculating that having the weight lower down is causing issues with the batterys but hard to say if that makes a big deal or not
      seems more like they need to update the standards with quardrails to deal with heavier cars and trucks
