I just bought a 2022 Ridgeline and am very impressed with how it rides and runs. Its a super solid ride and greatly functional. I drove all the midsize trucks and none of them came close. I dont do major off roading, I just travel old farm and gravel roads. It is more than capable of towing a camping trailer and a boat. That is all i need.

The "not a real truck" people are insecure snowflakes. What is the definition of a truck? is body-on-frame a requirement? WHY? Once upon a time, all cars were body-on-frame. Does that mean every single modern car is "not a real car??" LOL.

@@ScotWithOnet Trucks do have to be body-on-frame if you want to use them like a truck. Body-on-frame trucks have a higher towing capacity, higher payload, better off-road capability, and larger beds. My 20 year old F-150 can tow better than a new Ridgeline or Maverick. Unibody trucks are great for people who want to own a truck, but they don't need the capabilities of a truck.

Go Ridgeline! I have the 2021 Black Edition Ridgeline. I absolutely love it! Everyone who says that it is a car with a truck on top, is wrong. The new 2021 has changed completely. I had a 2020 Chevy Colorado Z71. I had the manufacture "buy it back" because it turned out to be a lemon. In the 7 months that I owned it, it was in the shop for a total of 94 days and it only had about 3K miles! I have now had my Ridgeline for 7 months, and it has been in the shop for "0" days! I was surprised how 'slow' the Frontier was. But when you look into it, the Frontier is as heavy as a base model crew cab F150 lol. Even the now-segment old boy Colorado is over 300lbs lighter. Even the ZR2 is lighter and an SV crew cab 4x4 Frontier. The next closest curb weight is the Gladiator and it's 150lbs lighter too. I think Ridgelone is the lightest of them all.
The Ridgeline update looks great, but they NEED to ditch those ridiculous fender flares haha. Scale them down to 50%. Same with the black plastic rockers. That plastic trick may work on a crossover to make it look 'rugged' but this is nasty

    • @jg8263

The curb weight makes the Tacoma the lightest per info available on Edmunds and the trucks' respective websites. The Tacoma has a curb weight range of 3915-4315lbs, to the Hondas 4436lbs. The Taco shown here should have a curb weight of about 4255lbs, depending on options, but even the heaviest Taco is still over 100lbs lighter than the Honda, which is the second lightest.

@@henrybrar I cannot speak for the Tundra's econ, but my 2017 RTL-T Ridgeline got as high as 29 highway and routinely had 22mpg mixed (I measure routinely, not relying on the dash display). My 2021 I have only had a few weeks, but similar performance thus far after 700 miles. When towing a 3900lb travel trailer I still get 12-15 depending on hills. My results may be atypical with the travel trailer, as I have a bed cap which is reducing frontal wind load on the camper (a 2020 Coleman Lantern LT 17B for reference), as those towing with open beds have reported issues with wind loading. Flat trailers up to 5000lbs are no issue for it whatsoever and returns that 15mpg number with them. Don't take my word for it though, check this video from last week by Truck King, th-cam.com/video/7BQjZUivB9o/w-d-xo.html in which they test performance with a 5k trailer behind the Honda. Spoiler, with the 5k behind it, it still had a faster 0-60 than full-sized trucks with the same 5k behind them, despite their larger engines/hp and towing ratings.

Any midsize "might" advertise 5 or 6K towing but you need a longer, heavier vehicle or you're squirming all over the road... the trailer is towing you! What I like about the Ridgeline is Honda has managed to design a ton of utility into it. The payload is impressive. It has decent towing numbers. The Honda AWD system isn't as good as a traditional 4x4 system but it's good enough for the vast majority of applications. It gets decent fuel economy. I would not mind owning one as a daily driver that can do some work for me too.

The Taco shown here should be around 4255lbs, so by far the lightest, but even if it had all the heaviest options, would still be over 100lbs lighter than the Honda's lightest variant. Except whatever I get would have to replace my 2008 Explorer with the 4.6L V8...so not really sure the Frontier would do it as the Explorer was built as a people hauler, with good towing capacity, neither the Ridgeline or Frontier come close to the 7100lb towing capacity of the Explorer so kind of stuck right now as to what direction to go. Still need the towing capacity so it may end up being an F150 or the Nissan Titan since Toyota did away with the 5.7L V8 in the Tundra starting in 2022.

I had a 16 Tacoma TRD Off-Road sold it off bought the Gladiator Rubicon and couldn't be happier. Better off the line low end torque. Much better seating and head room, more rear seat room. If you compare top of line to top of line the JBL system in my Tacoma isn't as nice as Jeep with Alpine System. The tech in the Jeep is better especially on the stereo screen better nav maps better interface. Off road the Tacoma is no slouch, but the Rubicon is well a Rubicon front rear lockers, sway bar disconnect, crawler transfer case. 2021 and above you can use rear locker in 4H. If you get the Mini Taser unit it will do like the new bronco where you can lock a rear wheel in a turn for tighter turning radius. ........Oh and the top comes off :)

2” shallower than Tacoma. It is a bit shallower, but it looks worse than it is IMO, because it is significantly wider and has a flat floor.
I haven’t found it to be an issue because most bulky stuff that is about the bed rail is either tied down, or under my OEM bed net (and would have to be secured in other midsize trucks as well. First off I typed fanboy and my phone changed it to fan boy. I would not call anyone a boy. Hopefully you were not triggered to badly.
so you have owned one Honda and it was a car and your stating things as if they are facts about how wonderful a Honda truck is that you have never owned?
So tommy it would appear you’re talking about something you have no experience on which is the Honda Ridgeline.
This is only my third Ford truck and I only have 2,500 miles on it so In no way can I review this Ranger at this time
My other two Ford F-150’s had minimal problems over the about 150k I put on each that I purchased new.
Now my ford Escape which is not a truck was nothing but problems for first year it spent about 10 weeks out of a year in the shop having various things replaced which as it was purchased new was all covered under warranty.
Does ford make the best vehicles that last for a long time nope but for sure they are not as bad as some claim and many people don’t even do the minimum required maintenance
Anyway go buy a Honda Ridgeline and In 100k miles report back see if yours lasts better than mine did since you want one you should get it.
it was first vehicle I have ever had that had a complete failure that soon and the computer was not the only thing wrong with it just the biggest thing
But I did love many things about it
The quietest truck down the road I have ever owned. It drive great and I loved the big under the truck bed secret cargo I so wished this Ranger had that.

Based on my personal experience I had with my 17 Ridgeline and I still can't help to notice how many issues are popping up per month in the Honda Ridgeline group that extra speed will definitely be helpful for Ridgeline owners in getting to the dealer as quickly as possible LOL.

I've been a viewer for over a decade. I dont know how much $ you bring in from the spots, but I continue to hate them. As a TH-cam Premium sub and pateron sub it is very frustrating to see these and I dont like the experience. There are TH-cam channels I watch with the similar and with more subs and they do not do this. Please, stop this awful practice. It ruins the viewing experience.
