@@terracotta6294 Ask her again in another couple months when gas is 7 a gallon, but if your a breeder, I guess you really don't have a choice unless you can afford electric. Bad example all around - I was more talking about people like my friends who have a family of three, and drive this ridiculouse suburban with a 454 getting 8 miles to the gallon.
I am 44 and Scotty has been doing this since I was a kid. He did it on mainstream tv and now steaming. This man is actually a legend, Cherish his knowledge! I do
@@chriskondiah741I was wondering where he got his journalism skills from, so I looked it up: Scotty Kilmer, the TH-camr, author, and auto mechanic, had a television show called “Crank it Up with Scotty” on KHOU. In this series, he demonstrated how to diagnose minor automotive mechanical problems, shared opinions on vehicle engineering, and provided solutions to low-profile issues. His show earned a Regional Emmy Award for “Outstanding Interactivity” in 2004, and Kilmer himself received an Emmy for “Best Interactive Car Talk Host”! 🚗🛠️12
@@stargirl1613 I was going to get a Mazda three I really liked it although I ended up getting a Chevy Malibu 2012 brand new. I really did enjoy the Mazda three I thought it looked nice. I love the hatchback the turning on and turning off kind of bothered me, and I felt like it was a little slow. I remember the Mazda three being really nice feeling very comfortable. The mail was very uncomfortable. The seat is horrible. That’s one thing I’d really like to replace in my car. I still have it has 170,000 on it. I’m curious how many miles you have on yours now ?
I swear I just got my license 2 months ago, and this is the type of knowledge I've always wanted to know about cars and more. TH-cam just put Scotty's channel in my feed and I'm thankful for the algorithm coming through on this one. 🙏🏽
My father used to explain to us about front wheel drive cars were best for winter. Second choice: rear wheel drive. He was treated by my brother like he didn't know anything. Breaks a dad down as years go on, especially when your family is your life, having grown up in an orphanage. Appreciate your parents. If you have an abusive sibling, never let your guard down like I did. Forgiveness is not magic.
Hey Scotty...thanx for helping us all...I got scammed by an auto ''Harry's Tire Shop'' in Auburn, NY for $4,334. Went in for a sticker and an O2 sensor. They said the only place they could get 1 sensor(that I didn't need was from a chain...thus the $454 sensor ... they said I needed another sensor. OK... They insisted on a $1200 payment. I needed an inspection. Told them I needed a coil (which I already had in my car...and told them I was replacing that cause it was easy)...they told me I needed another one. 2nd and only other thing I wanted them to do was put the inspection on it. They told me , and wrote on my bill that the front 2 were ''slinging oil.'' They said AC light was on but it was ok B4 i got there. They charged me $1370 to ''NOT FIX'' my AC WHICH THEY MESSED WITH WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. I paid for the 2 struts and arms...which I haven't checked to see if the ''arms'' which maybe in 2 years as they were ''bone dry'' and NOT ''slinging oil.'' These guys screwed me royally for ''1'' sensor...but they never put the 2nd in...for the exhaust that I had just replaced the day before. So they said I ''gave them permission...I did not and never signed s work order to let them touch whatever they wanted to ''pack my bill.'' I saved the sensor that they took off...no exposed wiring...but they changed that anyway and didn't replace the sensor that I was paying them to do....I'm going to drag the sensors into court. PS: They said they wouldn't pass it for inspection unless I got brand new front struts...and charged 10 1/2 hours labor to change 2 struts which I know should have been 3.5 hours labor...truth...why are they doing this? ...it used to be a very reputable place...but the new owner Named ''REISTER'' OBVIOUSLY RUNS HIS BUSINESS because he doesn't believe in honesty. Well the only way I can help others is put the bill for my sticker and this testimonial up on to everyone on FACEBOOK so ''buyer can beware.'' I just chanfed my sensor and AC switch myself...I won't even tell you about them screwing w/my AC and the $1230 bucks for ;;nothing'' that they did on THAT.
and he's right stopping distance is not improved with 4wheel drive cause 4 wheel drive stops as well as a front or rear wheel drive vehicle cause all vehicles are 4 wheel braking vehicles since they all have 4 wheel braking these days🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@raven4k998 - yes, though ABS can improve things by preventing wheels from locking while hard braking - though early ABS maybe increase brake distance/time - this has improved and you should not lose control/traction while hard braking - in *_normal_* conditions ...
Same!! Test driving some Toyota Hylanders and Honda Pilots tomorrow! Asked them If they would put it up on a lift so I can check out the whole underbody now I wish I would have waiting to catch them off guard Vs. Then having a heads up and trying to clean something...
Have a 2012 Honda Pilot touring 4x4 with 125000 and it is the best vehicle I have ever owned. Still going strong. Worst SUV was the 2005 Durango limited. Transmission, cooling problems went on and on. Also, just like other dodge vehicles I owned, passenger side window motor went out. Absolute worst car was my 2002 BMW 325i. Every plastic piece dry-rotted and adhesives eventually failed; electrical issues were a nightmare. Love your insight Scotty!!!
@@j.h.hahnes8849 …I agree. That’s why I got rid of it years ago. Never again will I own a dodge. My first was a 91 Daytona all tricked out but a problem child. Moved on to an acclaim, 2001 Durango then the limited. I finally learned tho
My family never throws away cars unless they have been totaled. We still have a 92 Mercedes, 99 Lexus RX (still used as a daily driver), 2007 Ford Escape hybrid (still used as a daily driver), 2006 Lexus RX 350h (driven every other week but has had expensive AC issues) a 2010 Lexus HS (still used as a daily driver) and a 2013 Mustang California edition (also a daily driver). - used cars are the way to go.
Years ago I was shopping for a SUV. Was hoping to score a good used Pilot but ended up finding some MDXs. Went to test drive a 2005 model (10 years old at the time) and the dealer let me take it to my mechanic who couldn't find a single thing wrong and then I took it to a friend who works at an auto body shop and he passed the car with flying colors. I decided to buy the vehicle. Loved the roominess and it was handy to have as a backup car or for when I needed to haul a large item. However, I really didn't drive the car as much as I thought I would so after 2 years I sold it to my dad. He absolutely loves that car and drives it EVERYWHERE. Car now has almost 180k on the odometer (had 118k when I bought it) and not a single thing wrong. This car is solid! For $10k this was definitely a fantastic purchase.
We purchased a 2005 Honda PIlot. It has 250K now and purrs and shifts like new. It has been costing me some fairly high dollar normal wear items and has lousy road isolation noise but it's roomy. Scotty 29 mpg highway on an engine slightly more powerful than our V-6? The most we've gotten is 22 mpg.
The 05 MDX is a good one, bought mine @ 160K, now at 360K, had to do some repairs over time (timing belt, AC, power steering), tranny now starting to shift slow but has been a great vehicle overall
My Japanese made 2019 4Runner Off-road Premium is the best automotive decision I've ever made. It's even more than I wanted and nothing I don't. I was dumb enough to go for the overpriced warranty but I was high on life. Love the channel.
I hope you really like your 4Runner because you are going to be driving it for a long, long time. I bought my 2004 4Runner Sport when it was new, and I'm still driving it every single day. It has 200,000 miles so far, and I wouldn't hesitate to jump in it and drive across the country.
For an SUV video we're talking a lot about Accords lol 🤣🤣 I have a 2016 Highlander and I don't think a house falling on it could kill that thing . This vid is pure gold when it comes to information!!!!! Thanks man
As a university student, one of my classes was able to take a tour of the Ohio Honda factory. I'm sure they probably have a lot more robots than the mid '90s, but even back then it was an awesome experience to witness these things in action first-hand!
Scotty your an amazing man and your knowledge of vehicles cannot be topped by anyone . You are the last of a breed of in depth auto knowledgeable ppl I’ve ever listened to . I can listen to you for hours . Thank you for your service and God bless
I bought a 2008 Honda Accord a couple months ago with 175,000 miles. Up today, super Strong and super soft to drive. Nothing wrong with it and I drive my car between cities around 2,000 miles monthly. Still drives beautiful!
I live in northern Michigan we get a ton of snow . When brand new vehicles prices went way up I went down to Florida bought a 2006 Forester with 55k on it one owner had a few bugs to get out changed timing belt this thing is a tank I love it plus I have no car payment!!
Because of you all i buy my wife now is Honda's and Toyota's. Had a 2020 Toyota RAV4 lease and traded it for a used 2018 Toyota sienna xle and absolutely love it. Ultimate family machine.
I drove without AWD for most of my driving life. I mostly drove fwd vehicles but early on I owned rwd old GM cars My first time having an awd vehicle in heavy snow was an absolute game changer. I got snowed in somewhere and didn't have a shovel.. I was driving a 2007 CRV touring.. and it effortlessly climbed out. I don't expect a CRV to be on the level of a 4x4.. but I gotta say, I am highly impressed with that vehicle. Both faults listed in this video I've had issues with. AC died on me and had to be fixed. Door lock broke a few times. But.. I gotta say.. it's a damn great car for being 16yrs old. Plus it has a lot of features for being that old.
I love the look of those old Honda's, Lexus and the Acrua Legend...I would drive one (in pristine condition) today with pride 👍🏽 Thanks Scotty for confirming my exquisite taste and also for the history lesson! I remember back in the mid-'80s reading in some business magazine that Acrua dealerships were going belly up because customers didn't need to return for the money-making "servicing". 😂🥰
I love how you edited this video! I feel like it looks like different episodes but the editing wouldn’t make you think that. Excellent video! You should do one on sedans 🙂
As a mechanic myself for 25 years I know Hondas and Toyotas are the most reliable vehicles ever and even though their quality has declined a little they're still much better than their competitors for a big margin
I had an 05 CRV for years in Florida, and am so glad I did on the wet roads. I still have the same CRV as an original owner as a back up car. I can’t get out of my snowy icy driveway in the winter without all or 4wd. Second car is a 4wd Pilot as we needed more seats for a carload of boys.
SCOTTY your summary of this topic deserves an Oscar, Emmy whatever but darn good writing and perfect delivery. That’s why you ARE TOPS when it comes to analyzing vehicles. I really respect what you do and I think they need a car/Vlog recognition called “THE SCOTTY.” I don’t know how you do it but you would have been one heck of a lawyer arguing a case with facts, data, information and you serve as an example to many. So, let’s create “The Scotty.” Hummmm what would it be, one of those equine images with large teeth often seen; that’s my vote!
I had a 2001 Civic with the 5 speed manual transmission. Bought it new and drove it for 11 years. Only had to change the timing belt and do regular maintenance. I got about 40 MPG. My only issue was the interior wore out after 8 years. The worst being the headliner. I still keep getting the recall pamphlets for the airbag after not owning it since 2013. Even after calling them and having them update my information.
I have a 94 Nissan Quest. 290k miles and runs like a champ. Power everything and most of those still work including the AC. I bought II used for $1200 with 205k miles. Never fails to fire up. Truly a tight machine and I love it.
I bought a Hyundai Kona last year. 2021 and it has engine problems and stalled on me while driving (luckily I didn’t get hit or someone got hurt since the road was luckily empty). So I don’t blame Scotty for only recommending Toyota or Honda to buy! If I can go back I’d buy a Toyota and or Honda after my experience with a new Hyundai. 😭
I had a similar horrible experience with Hyundai i30 (Elantra) in year 2010 in Germany. I sold it somehow loosing a lot of money and bought a very reliable good looking Honda Civic.
@@munzurharck368 I’m selling mine this year. I am gonna be losing a lot of money as well but it’ll cost me more to keep it! So imma just have to take the loss and move onto Honda or Toyota. Apparently Hyundai has been hot garbage for a long time! I’m not surprised you have the same experience I’ve had years prior.
Hyundai is still junk. My wife’s 2016 Tucson 1.6T limited just bricked with a a broken valve and it destroyed both the engine and turbo fan. We’ll be joining the class action lawsuit.
My cousin was a Nissan engineer who only bought Honda products. His Honda Odessy has over 700 thousand miles on the original engine and transmission. I have been the lucky owner of one 1996 Acura Vigor, two Acura TLs, and two Acura RLs. My wife owns a 2010 MDX. Between 2004 and 2006 I did no oil changes on the Vigor. Nearly 57 thousand miles later the car kept driving. An road object destroyed my oil pan as I was on I 95. I saw white smoke at the rear and drove off of the nearest exit before the engine shut down. Acura replaced the oil plan under one condition, if the car didn't work there would be $0.00 charges. The car worked and I added 170 thousand miles more before donating the Vigor. My first TL had major transmission work under warranty. We have never bought new cars despite having the means, thanks to our professions in STEM snd finance. A Lexus is way too expensive to purchase. The initial outlay is a large cost component that Scotty neglected to mention where cars are concerned. My son has been driving the 2008 RL I gave him for 4 years without any major repairs. Like I did, he keeps up with scheduled maintenance. We only buy well maintained used Acuras, no excepions!
I used to live in Salt Lake City, where it snowed a lot. I saw tons of 4x4 and AWD crashes while I drove around them in the little sedan I had at the time. Tires and traction is king in the snow and ice.
Great video as always Scotty! Wanted to make a correction on the history of Acura. They actually launched three new vehicles, not two. In between the luxury Legend and sporty Integra, they positioned a luxury vehicle slightly smaller than the Legend called the Vigor. I bought a new Integra in 1987 and it provided over 8 years of trouble-free, fun driving. Only issue I ever had was breaking a tie rod end after hitting two deep potholes. They gave me a Legend to drive during the repair - a really sweet vehicle!
@The Real VR I’ll never forget my 1998 Acura Integra GSR (manual trans) in black. Bought it brand new from Park Acura in Akron right out of college and enjoyed driving it for 7 years before I upgraded to a 2005 BMW 330xi primarily due to not wanting to continually shift in rush hour traffic in Chicago. Looking back I would have saved a ton of money in maintenance had I kept the Integra but you live and learn. That car was fast for a little 4 cylinder 2 door coupe.
@@wolfofwacker4578 I'd never sell a honda for a bmw...you'd probably still have the Integra if you wanted to. I'd also never sell a standard for an automatic...the bmw wasn't actually an upgrade..they're not quality...people just fall for the looks and power
My friend used to borrow his mom’s Legend in 1991ish, and it was way ahead of any other car of the time, in terms of electronics and safety, like many others only seen in their post 2000 models.
I bought a '96 Ram 5.9 4x4 with 110k for $11k in 2000 and drove that truck daily for 18 years. 1 tranny rebuild, 1 rear diff rebuild, I think 3 water pumps, 1 starter, 1 fuel pump, 1 radiator, 1 fan clutch, and I think I did plugs wires cap and rotor 3 times... Overall not too shabby for 18 years. Oh yeah, replaced the front end suspension, shocks, and u joints twice too.
Almost got a Jeep Renegade. Salesman and myself got it. I turned it on and immediately turned it off and returned the key when I felt the shaking through the steering wheel and gas pedal. Since then. I just avoided the car.
In 2000 I was riding in a 1974 civic owned by a shifty guide that guaranteed me a no.1 view of volcano Arenal. He was the best, craziest guide I’ve ever had where from the time you got in his car to me buying him a new rear wheel barring. His civic was like new well kept and he got angered if someone shut his doors to hard. Best time of my life
I had a 2014 used Honda Accord v6 with 290000 miles before the car got totaled with a head to head collision. The engine and transmission was still going strong. It’s a shame that I never saw how far I can take that vehicle. But I also did my own maintenance and maybe did a little more then what most people do to their own vehicle.
I worked for Honda, and we had some guy in the Midwest who had a 1992 Green Honda Civic with 420,000 miles on it, still running great, and all original parts. Honda offered to buy back his vehicle and give him a brand new Honda. He took the offer, and now it's on display at the corporate headquarters
A big reason SUV's a re more popular in the snowbelt states is they typically have better ground clearance so you can more easily drive on roads that haven't yet been plowed and have a better chance of making it through snow drifts in driveways and those lovely piles of snow plows always leave at the curb right after you've shoveled the drive.
Brilliant video, in-depth experience imparted to the masses. I like your objectivity, such as: "Most economical is a sedan, but if you have these requirements, then go for one-of-these SUVs, but not one of those SUVs." Fair and balanced. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only guy on the road in a sedan. '99 Camry, no antilock braking :( 110k miles! So I learned from Scotty to be a little more tolerant of there being a place for SUVs. My wife had a Honda Pilot for a few years, then upgraded to a later model Honda Pilot. I thought she was crazy, supporting the oil companies. Once or twice a year, she packed the SUV to from floor to rafters with grandkids, almost a baseball team's worth, and they all fit inside with their assorted mothers. But she talked in her sleep, and the real reason she wanted an SUV was so she wouldn't get intimidated so much by aggressive drivers. At least she wasn't an aggressive driver herself. But I don't think annual visits from all the grandkids is sufficient reason to make an SUV as your everyday vehicle. Do I remember, it got around 18 mpg on the highway, 15 or less around town, maybe. I would take nighttime trips in my previously owned 2001 Civic EX (5 speed, I think it was after 200k I had to start adding oil -- the mechanic said every Civic in the world needs oil added at that point. Needed a head gasket somewhere around 250k miles -- it was overheating under load, air was leaking into the head gasket and settling up near the thermostat. And there was some kind of $500 valve that only appeared in the EX model. If I understand right, I was good enough with shifting, that the clutch disk was still good when the clutch needed service, but there's that pressure plate (?) with all those tiny, heavy springs that was a mess. Springs were dislodged from their positions and pointing in all sorts of directions, trouble pressing the clutch pedal, the last trip was to the mechanic, where I was convinced to replace all the pieces while they were in there. Maybe destroying the pressure plate indicates there's something wrong with my shifting -- I always tried to drop it into gear quickly at just the right rpm, I got it over 75% of the time. New clutch, and it was beautiful again. Thank God I missed the other problems that Scott mentioned about the 2001, maybe the previous owner fixed them before "getting rid of the car." No monthly payments for me. I would take nighttime trips on I-80 and set the cruize control to 60 or less. If I came up on a truck that was going even slower, I'd get behind him by a tenth of a mile or so, so as not to be aggressive, and when he went even slower going uphill, I'd slow down too. I should have had a CB so I coulda told them I was trying to maximize my mpg. I peaked at 42 mpg a few times, and I'm sure others have done better. Scott, you also must cut down on coffee. I thought you're a lunatic, but TH-cam kept suggesting your videos to me, but you kept giving me a proximity high so I didn't subscribe. But this video has so much good advice, right down to the best model-years to buy or to avoid, which is priceless advice. Compared to Consumer Reports which gives snapshots of individual models, this video gives Quicker and easier to digest information, comparing years and decades of different manufacturer's different models, cutting to the chase about what you really should spend your money on -- in someone's particular situation -- so they don't waste their money. My advice -- Take 4000 I.U. vitamin D every day to support resistance to those damned viruses. And a couple hundred milligrams Magnesium daily to activate the vit D. 30 mg zinc just a few times a week. 1000 mg vit C a couple of times a day. Stay well.
Scotty I have a Lexus 2021 RX 350L and I swear by it, it rides beautifully just like a car, it has loads of space, can handle lots of luggage. My Doberman doesn’t mind being back there, it gets good gas mileage on econo mode, and it loves the snow even while up in Tahoe in a big snow storm never needed chains, an absolute dream. I have owned BMW X5 Jeep Loredo and Audi Q7 and this so much better.
What about a Lexus RX 350? My daughter was hit by a guy who ran a red light while speeding. Her RX350 was totaled. But she and her boyfriend walked away unhurt.
I have had 2 lexus.. 1 car 1 crossover suv.. my favorite 2 cars ! Neither new both about 10 years old. The the crossover was the best car I drove in the snow.. the car was the quickest best handling .. I'm dying to get another in my price range asap!!!
My sister bought a brand new awd hybrid rav4, prior to these insane gas prices. It’s amazing, better than the Tesla “suv” that’s literally just a hatchback
Bought new a Subaru Forester Sport 2019. Meticulously dealer maintained. Left me stranded 4 ( four) times in the middle of the street. Taken back to dealer every time. Eventually dealer changed battery under warranty. Also “ excessive carbon buildup in several components “. Car was less than 23k miles. Not happy at all.
The GM Buick 231 CID 3800 Series II III N/A and Supercharged versions. These 2000-2005 Buick Park Avenue Base and Ultra and the 2000-2005 Buick Lesabre/Lesabre Limited are very god cars and many are usually owned by the elderly and have been well maintained and are cheap to fix and buy and you can get these with 60k-125k miles for 2000-3500 and best car for the money if you want a full size car.
I live in Montana. I currently own a 19 civic 6-speed. I ALWAYS put Bluzzaks on during the winter. It never ceases to amaze me how many SUVs end up in the ditch. I've never had a problem.
i recently purchased a 2005 cr-v in december. unfortunately its having a torque comverter shudder; however, for 164k miles, it’s been extremely reliable, I’m happy with it. plus, with a warranty, I’m able to get the torque converter replaced for nearly free.
If it’s at 28 mph going from 2nd to 3rd then it’s the same as elements. There’s an inline trans filter up front that most don’t know needs to be changed eventually. Even most Honda techs don’t know it’s there since it’s not considered a service item. Have them change it and that shudder usually goes away. For $100 👍
Honda's sh-awd system actually helps in lots of situations due to the way it is designed. It keeps car going in direction steering wheel is pointed at.
I also don’t buy SUVs for carrying people. My main focus is safety and better vision, and then finally storage. I need the cargo space for hauling inventory or tools, which is why my back seats are always down flat. I’ll never go back to a tiny car.
I remember Car & DRiver's review of the first Lexus LS400: 'It feels like some new Mercedes S class; some new mercedes that mercedes hasn't gotten around to building yet'. And it was; an absolutely terrific car.
All the way from S.A...in 2019, bought a secondhand, VW 2013 TDI Comfortline 1.6, with 60 000km on the clock. very happy. service up to date. 88000 on the clock currently.
To me the best SUV to get is the 80s series Toyota Land cruiser. Also the older Nissan Patrols are good as well. Mainly cus they have solid axles and simple and reliable engines😀
I drive today an 02 Toyota Sequoia with its powerful 4.7 V8 that still roars like a lion, and our other Toyota is a 2021 Toyota Camry SE AWD, wow, that thing is like a computer on wheels. Toyota Camry AWD are powerhouses in the New England Snow...Toyota Rules.
My Pontiac VIBE is a 2005 and has 150,000 miles with NO engine or transmission problems, ever. Paint job is flawed on hatch-back, but that's it for problems over 16 years.
We have 6 drivers 2 Honda, 4 Toyota and 1 Lexus. Never go back to any other brand again. We used to drive mix of different brands from all 3 continents.
Part time 4 wheel drive equipped with all-track and rear differential lock IS THE BEST! There is absolutely no terrain you can't conquer with such a vehicle! And yes, I am talking about a fully equipped Toyota Tacoma 4x4 TRD Off-road! -:) Forget about the SUVs, get yourself a REAL truck, you will NEVER regret and drive it FOREVER!!!
Seeing Scott's Celica behind him, I felt the urge to mention this: I had a 2001 Celica, lime green (209k miles). It was a head-turning from people from all walks of life. But I just sold it this summer, because it's rough driving (only 6 inches off the ground), and because I didn't like parking it outside in Phoenix summer heat. Anyway, I own a 2009 bmw x5 diesel, with just 28kmiles. Though since the 2 years I got it, I've almost $10k... on 2 reductant replacements, turbo, and fuel pump... I hope it won't give me trouble, because I like how it handles....
Why would you keep something that youve already had to spend so much on when you have no miles?? Plenty of other cars handle well.....yours is obviously junk, if you needed a turbo and fuel pump that soon.....thats ridiculas to even consider keeping
Great video Scotty! You are very knowledgeable! My son and his wife own two Honda CRVs and love them, so I texted him this link. He responded you are the "mad scientist" of cars.😁
I watched some of your videos, then 2 years ago I bought a 2016 RAV4 AWD with low milage, then dumped the 2007 Nissan X-Trail.. Since then, an oil change, and gas, have been the only expenses. No more carrying a case of oil ... I get better fuel economy, too.
Got a Dodge Nitro 07 I bought used in 2010...260k+ mi. Still runs, needs a new ball joint, and rocker panels. So almost time for some new tires. Gonna have to give it up only because the total cost of parts and labor are worth more then the value of the car itself. She treated me well and I made sure I did my part to keep up with regular maintenance. If you take care of your vehicle and understand it's purpose...you'll have a reliable vehicle for a long time.
Good morning everyone Hey Scotty I've been searching for a used Volvo wagon every car I find I come see you on YT then I get distracted😆. Nuff love Sir💕💕💕🌴
I believe Japanese made vehicles are the best in the business. That being said i own a 2004 Acura MDX with 202,000 miles and it runs like a dream. Ive had to replace the shock struts on it due to them wearing out and other than that regular maintenance. Timing belt and changing all the fluids from time to time to keep it running great. Im gonna drive it till she blows
Scotty Kilmer you have a lot of knowledge about cars , you are a walking book thanks to you we decide to buy a Honda HRV 2022 and now we are thinking to buy a Honda civic Sport 2025 keep up the good work !! greetings from Chicago Illinois your subscriber Tony God bless you.
Apparently the Toyota logo spells Toyota if you break it down.. and the Hyundai logo is supposed to resemble two businessman shaking hands, there's a few other car brand logos that are supposed to mean all kinds of things..
Eureka! My dad knows a guy who said the same thing about Hondas and Toyotas that you said. I'll be asking him for taking my Myvi car there. Thank you for just being there, and you change stuff for the better just by being there. Thanks again.
Personally, I think Honda’s iVTM4 AWD vastly outperforms their FWD in poor weather conditions. Acura’s Super Handling AWD is supposedly even better than the iVTM4. The AWD has the potential advantage of three or four wheel engine breaking as opposed to FWD alone. Especially if equipped with the German ZF 9-speed with paddle shifting.

Love my Toyota, My first was an 85 Toyota Cressida, that thing was ahead of its time, nothing but power and luxury .
Wasn't the Vigor a 5 Cylinder?
@The Real VR Acura released a 2023 Integra. Have you seen it?
Great video!!!

Stay well.
Damn. Did you transcript the whole video?
Wtf dude
Used vehicles are just as expensive as new vehicles now
Facts lmao
Yeah but newer ones are built cheaper
That’s good to hear😊
Great SUV. Safe.
We still own a CRV from 2001. No rust, garaged, with less than 110K miles. Excellent vehicle that we keep for the winter (in the mountains).
Very smart!
I drive a Lexus GX-460 and a Mazda CX-9. Both are amazing.
I can verify the 2007 Toyota Highlander. Mine is still rolling. I have never had a problem other then regular maintenance.
Sane here. 240k
You can't anymore
Most of my TH-cam time is spent with Scotty. I don't think I'd even be on here without him. Excellent work.
My Aunt and Uncle had a 1974 Corola. They Bought it used, but they drove it forever.
I live in Montana. I currently own a 19 civic 6-speed. I ALWAYS put Bluzzaks on during the winter. It never ceases to amaze me how many SUVs end up in the ditch. I've never had a problem.
i recently purchased a 2005 cr-v in december. unfortunately its having a torque comverter
shudder; however, for 164k miles, it’s been extremely reliable, I’m happy with it. plus, with a warranty, I’m able to get the torque converter replaced for nearly free.
For $100 👍
@@brad5699 it was about 35 - 40 mph. i sold it for a newer car recently as it developed further issues.
@@brad5699I'm gonna check that out. Maybe can clean it and reinstall .
Gotta admit, I love my 2020 Honda CR-V. Got 60k on it and had zero issues.
I’d buy another one tomorrow…
RAV4 with V6 engine is the perfect sleeper. Not good gas consuming but so much fun to drive.
I’ve never had transmission problems in mine 07 MDX 2015 MDX or my 2020 RDX. But I keep my vehicles, well-maintained, and I do my own maintenance.
This guy is not your average mechanic, He is Life in a Jean jacket.
I own Honda CRV 2011 so I’m glad I picked that car and still running 👍👍
4wd= transfer case (from light trucks to heavy duty)
AWD= center differential (lighter vehicles like CUV and cars)
Factually approved message 👌
My Pontiac VIBE is a 2005 and has 150,000 miles with NO engine or transmission problems, ever. Paint job is flawed on hatch-back, but that's it for problems over 16 years.
That’s because it’s essentially a Toyota Matrix rebranded as a Pontiac.
Love your videos Scotty! You've never steered my family and I wrong!!!
I see that pun there...whether you intended it or not. 😂😂
We have 6 drivers 2 Honda, 4 Toyota and 1 Lexus. Never go back to any other brand again. We used to drive mix of different brands from all 3 continents.
I'm so surprised land rover did not make the worst suv list. My 04 discovery has paid my mechanics mortgage but I still love it.
Scotty
It will give you trouble. I loved my X5, but it spent more time in the shop than in my garage. The BMW mechanics are were idiots.
Good morning everyone
Hey Scotty
I've been searching for a used Volvo wagon every car I find I come see you on YT then I get distracted😆. Nuff love Sir💕💕💕🌴
No mention of Mazda... a car/suv company to really consider since Toyota will have Mazda making their trans now. Says a lot.
I loved the Acura and Lexus history breakdown! Clearly, both did their homework and it paid off.
I’ve always saw the Acura logo as an A and never even thought of it as being a skewed H
That's because you have mental issues.
The Odyssey we owned got stuck in some light ice mixed with sleet using FWD. My Ridgeline with iVTM4 has yet to get stuck in any snow and ice conditions.
I never get Tired of the story about how lexus came to be by the Japanese auto makers and the way Scotty tells the story. Side note I like the way Scotty pronounces the Japanese Names !
I have a 2006 solara...it now has 197k miles. It's a great car. I have no reason to buy a new car. My daughter has 2007 Solara 135k miles. I feel we both have the best cars ever.
These solaras run 4ever.
@@tonypetch yes they do! I think about getting a new because vanity, but it doesn't make financial sense to me
I love my 2003 Honda Element. She's got almost 190,000 miles on it. I've kept her well-maintained although she looks pretty shabby now. Also, I adore the Fit. The Fit along with the Element were discontinued. I wish they'd bring them back. Considering the current economy and gas price, Honda should sell the Jazz in the US... it would sell like hotcakes!
I almost got an Acura MDX a couple of years back, it was so nice. Love those cars. My ex really wanted me to get a Kia Sorento, but I wasn’t sold on it
