- 1972 Pontiac Ventura II Junkyard Find. This was another one of those sad ones for me. This 72 Poncho Ventura II 4 door was darn near as straight as an arrow. I bet this one could have been driven out of there. Shame that it went to the junkyard. Under the hood it was sporting the Chevy 307 which wasn't around for too long. I believe it was in production from 1968 to 1973.

@@johnbeer5242 No less even start (or worse yet, work on) a lawn mower. For many of us "older guys", working on a lawn mower was a rite of passage to eventually working on cars. I still repair my yard equipment to this day.
That Ventura needs saved. My parents bought one new, a different year I believe
The tail lights were different and theirs was a 2 door, blue with a white roof. It also had the 307 I believe maybe the 305. I remember my dad saying it was a lemon. Lol
307 most likely 305 not come out til 1976
These are rare to find, since you see many more Chevrolet Novas than Pontiac Venturas. I'm actually surprised to see a 307 V8 in this car given the little to no factory equipped options. Something as plain jane as this would usually come with a straight inline 6 motor.
True, but the 307 was an option, so was AC for sure and I'm going to say this had some sort of radio (probably just AM) originally, so those were options. I'm not sure if PS and PB were options or statndard, I'm thinking they were options.
Rarley do i run into a Ventura, Apollo, and Omega.
@@ClassicRideSociety what junk yard is this car in. I need taillights and front bumper off of it

Cool car
Sad to see the old girl in the salvage yard
My first car was a '73 Ventura, baby blue with a built 350. Man I loved that car!!! Brings back awesome memories.
A great find but that shade of green on some older cars always reminds me of Palmolive bar soap. The classic scent kind.
Man that rare here in Ohio no 72 Ventura in the yards or on the street's rusted away years ago cool to see one again
Nice daily, with a little love.
I actually have a 72 ventura 2. It was my first car when I was 15 and my dad and I have been working on it slowly over the past 8 years.
A Pontiac version of lil Nova luv green paint & it looks straight aswell.
People need to know more than ever that these "boring" 4 doors are what we're missing in the classic car world. Everyone will have 2 door cars, and 4 doors will become super rare. Also, 4 doors looks GREAT on movie sets (Stranger Things anyone?) and in church parking lots (Easier to get a date with a Preacher's daughter with this vs a Olds 442 of the same year! ^0^)
She's got a full set of these hubcaps, the body doesn't look to be a rust bucket, the engine looks fully capable of turning over, glass looks good, these are GREEN flags for ya! Haggle it down to $1200 or something and you've got something *NOBODY* would have at a Cars & Coffee or car show, which are full of tri-fi Bel Airs, first gen Mustangs, and multiple Bandit car replicas with Burt Reynolds impersonators! CRS, if I were you, I'd see if there's a title to by with this or at LEAST grab the good parts outta this.
BTW, I noticed an AM/FM radio 8 track there, what should I do to have that so I can make a revival video for it? ^^
Those are Chrysler hubcaps, not GM. I believe this car would have had hubcaps with some sort of PMD emblem.
My Taurus is a 4-door. Gets 28 mpg. 3.0 V-6. 14 years old 162,000. It Rocks! Shawn
I would buy that in minute, very restorable as a runner.
I would LOVE this car
Don't see many of those, makes my heart a bit sad
It definitely didnt deserve to be junked
My neighbor had one of these with a turbo 350 trans. This was back in '74 before I had a driver license. She decided that she could change her own oil at home, all by herself. Gets it all finished and now the car won't move. I'm riding around on my bicycle and stop to see whats up. I pull the trans dip stick, nuthin... Pull the oil stick and it's overfilled. Back then the trans had a drain plug, OOPPSIE!! She thought I was some kind of genius figuring it out, boy was she wrong, I'm an idiot still fixing cars 50 yrs later.
Love the front end
Wow never see those anymore too bad
Great car to do a bumper to bumper refresh!
I'd clean it up, leave the patina and drive it. It would be fine as is.
Shamenit ended up in the yard. They wanted just a bit too much I guess.
@@ClassicRideSociety that's when I would start dickering with them.
I kind of want to get a 70’s Ventura. Cool cars.
Cool car
Too many doors. Reminds me of a drivers education car. Still, with it being as straight as it is, offer $500. Clean it then flip it.
could make for a pretty good sleeper/ daily driver for not too much$$$$
Love my 72 Ventura II. Came with a Pontiac 350, No AC.
You are correct those AC boxes will work power break booster will work should check out that crown Vic to you sometimes those had 351.
Pontiac came out with the Ventura in 71.
My favorite gm brand or car period
Basically it's a Nova that is just re named and has Pontiac on it. There are a few cosmetic differences but basics are the Nova platform. Looking at the car it looks as though this wouldn't take a whole lot to put it back on the road. They are really good cars. I have a friend that has one just like this one except a two door. It has never had the engine opened on it but has over 300k on the car. It still starts every time. The interior is really finished but the car itself is a really solid runner.
I think someone was high in 1972 when they designed that front grill
The rest of the car looked clean
Them hub caps would have been worth taking and stick them on your wagon
I like the front grill tho
Surely this car's qualifies for being a bubble top, I never knew there were so many thank you TH-cam
Should have snatched the whole engine. Looks like a recent rebuild by how clean it was. 💯👍🏾
Someone took good care of it at some point
Yup, this one was made in Willow Run, MI (WRN on the cowl tag). A Nova twin. Yup, many were 307 Chevrolet 2 barrel, I believe it was the first option over the straight six engine (which was also Chevrolet made). My aunt had a 1977 that as I remember, she bought new. Those are Chrysler hubcaps on it and on the front seat, not GM hubcaps. . No doubt it would run. Those are the original "Wittek" tower radiator hose clamps, but the upper hose was changed at one point.
Cowl tag is ST72 for 1972, 2 for Pontiac, 4169 for 4 door Ventura II, WRN for "Willow Run, MI" assembly plant, the rest is the body number. 760 I believe is for green interior, A52 is a bench seat, can't make out the build date code, something with an "E", so that appears to be the 4th week of a month that had four weeks in it in 1971 or 1972, the others are assembly codes. Hard to make out the paint, but that green appears to be an original. I didn't see the VIN #, but you will surely see a "W" in it for Willow Run. We can take a run at the VIN: 2 for Pontiac, Y for Ventura II, 69 for four door, F for 307 V8 2 barrel, 2 for 1972 model year, W for Willow Run, MI assembly, and the rest would be the production sequence.
Worked on a 1971 version of this, a 2 door, brown in color, white interior, someone dropped it off at my neighbor's shop. It was an original 40,000 mile car that only had Cragar mags added to it (original hubcaps were in the trunk and it was a locally sold car).
I think the paint code is 49 49 which would be Laurentian Green uppper and lower paint code.
Man I would've given them $1500 for that...damn!!
Any metal dipstick will work as a trunk key when it's already popped out you don't need a screwdriver
Dam that's a good idea 👍
@@ClassicRideSociety It's old school from when these cars were common. Back in the day everybody knew about it.
It's a shame that a lot of these old-school tricks seem to be getting lost.
@@jamessouthworth1699 well I'll be bringing it up in my videos when the opportunity arises
Those wheel covers were from a 1972-1976 Plymouth Duster or Valiant or scamp.
If i was a billionare i would save as many of these cars as i can.Dont crush them!!!!
The Pontiac Ventura is the other Nova they look similar but different grilles bumpers you can probably converted into a 2 door post but they need to make 2 door conversion kits available with instructions on how to build it
Cool 😀
wtf dam thats a rare nice car
Where are you located or where did you find these cars I live in florida and it's always been my dream to have a classic Pontiac
I'm in the DFW Texas. And this was at Garland Auto Recyclers in South Dallas. That car has been parted out . I'm originally from Florida as well.
Valiant hubcaps
Looks like some kind of Mopar hubcaps.
Like i said...get yourself a damn good battery and maybe a little hand cart to pull it on and crank some of these beasts. May need and a gas can and fuel pump for some of them but damn it would be fun.
My cousin had a Ventura that he stuffed a 455 in with an aftermarket cam, intake and headers, damn I lusted after that car, then I found out it was a sin to covet. I guess I'll burn.
Gotta make a video on that cop package Ford next to it!
I went back to make a video on it amd unfortunately it was gone.
I wanted to be the first one to post that.
Help me find a 72 Pontiac Ventura ll that's pretty descent & close to the panhandle of FL.
I'd rather have this over a nova 2 door.
Everyone has a Coupe
The sedans are rarer,
as most were driven,
then scrapped.
Why be a lemming
like Everyone else
Dare to be different
I'd like to get something like this to put the drivetrain from my 1996 Buick Roadmaster sedan into. I really like the LT1 engine, but I really want something older. The Roadmaster is a decent looking car. But it doesn't have the character of cars from the 60's and 70's. Or even the 80's
What a shame this cars fate is the crusher
So true. 😥
Grab the grills and tail light. They are worth some money on Ebay.
Someone should rescue that car.
They wont sell it whole now
Where is that at ! I had a 72 with a 350 poncho 2 door .
South Dallas TX
It looks identical to a Chevy Nova Mr classic ride society.
What junkyard was this car found in?
Garland Auto Recyclers in Dallas TX. But its long gone now. They crushed it a good while back
Hola can u tell me we’re is car at I need some parts I have a 1973 ventura that my dad gave me when I was 13 years old,,and am fixing it up if u don’t mine thanks
what are you needing?
I need the the hood ,driver side fender ,front bumper, and grill
Sam Thompson let me know we’re this car at thanks
Its in south Dallas TX. They don't ship parts so youd have to be local
The 307 & 305 isn’t very fast but they are good engines all they need is performance parts so they can run with the big dogs to race against
I would like to build a sedan to have fun with some performance parts no matter what engine it has
307=283 block with 327 crank?
Yup. And a 327 with a 283 crank will give you a nice revving 302. Can also use a 350 block
@@ls6-ss413
The 302 was a much better engine...
@@joeschlotthauer840 no doubt. It also had the benefit of way better flowing heads too. I'd still like to build a 307 on the cheap just for kicks.
Where is this car at.? I need parts!!!
Garland Auto Recyclers Dallas TX
Don’t like for doors but that one should be in the scrap yard
Agree still worth. Saving since Pontiac no longer in business.
Looking for such a 4 door ventura for my personal project to drive for life.
My budget is 2k.
The book is stupid.
Not interested in a trailer queen.
Very nice restorable “ high school drivers ed car”
Why it’s in the boneyard is way beyond me.
Get all these “ fixer uppers” out of the
junkyards...
Fix ‘em up
Would help the used car shortage.
Can actually work on these classics
Plus
Car ins is super low
that yard it will atleast sit for over a year before they crush it.
True
Where is this car at

I think its better lookin than the Nova
I had the olds version of this with centerlines and a two for tunnel ram
Nice, the Omega

saveeee it !!
They won't sell it whole now
Dart hub caps🤔
Hola disculpa necesito las calaveras y los emblemas y las vistas del cristal trasero tendrá algún número para comunicarme soy de mexico

I learned to drive in a car like that in the late 70s
Looks like someone put Chrysler-Plymouth hub caps on car.
Will finance a cash offer?
Not anymore. They crushed what was left of it a good while back
@@ClassicRideSociety I figured that
It met the crusher long ago. It just sounded so silly. I mean if someone was paying cash what would they have left to finance?
Nova.
Might have disc brakes
True and worth the money for those parts for a disc conversion for something else.
I believe it did have them
Four door ewww!
They are gaining in popularity
