Why animal products are the ultimate superfood (pregnancy, heart, brain, eyes, bones, teeth)

  • With the help of Weston A. Price, a Canadian dentist writing in the 1930s, we’ll see why animal products and animal fat are fundamental components of a healthy diet. This is particularly true during pregnancy and childhood, for the proper development of babies and children. We’ll consider the fat soluble vitamins Retinol (Vitamin A), Vitamin D, and Vitamin K2, as well as the long chain omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA (aka fish oils). These nutrients are essential for the health of your heart, brain, eyes, bones, teeth, and for reproductive health. We’ll see why the vegan diet is inadequate for human nutrition and dangerous during pregnancy and childhood. We'll also consider supplements and food quality.
The quotes from Weston A. Price, and the images used, are from his book: ‘Nutrition and Physical Degeneration: A Comparison of Primitive and Modern Diets and Their Effects.’ To the best of my knowledge, this book is out of copyright in the UK, but in other cases/countries I claim fair use for the quotes and images utilised in this video.

It's all so confusing, even for those of us who try to follow nutritional guidelines for good health. Some studies say that we should limit saturated animal fats in our diet (e.g., red meat, dairy, etc.) and focus more on a Mediterranean-type diet (vegetables, nuts, seeds, fish, and olive oil), which are higher in mono and polyunsaturated fats, especially omega-3 fatty acids. Personally, I just try to focus on having a balanced diet.

Cattle are on feed lots for a small amount of time, 4-6 months. They are on pasture before this so there really isn't that much difference as they must be fed roughage (hay and straw) in addition to their grain ration otherwise they will get sick with Acidosis. So they are still getting a high amount of grass.

Extremely informative research. But it begs the question of why there are so many vegans / vegetarians that have been so for years and yet don't display any major levels of ill health due to insufficient of diet essentials ? Just curious. 🍖 or 🥦

    • @drphilipbosanquet
      @drphilipbosanquet  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

Good question. Vegetarians can still get most of the nutrients from animal products like cheese/eggs. I have clinically seen a lot of people suffering the effect of a vegan diet. Having said that, most people on a vegan diet will be on supplements, and if not deficiencies can take up to a few years to develop. But I have seen plenty of B12 deficiency in people with low animal product intake, and a lot of vegans do get various problems some years down the line too. The body also has an amazing capacity to cope with the suboptimal. I think a major group who suffer are children born to vegan/close to vegan parents (very common deformities, as Weston A Price discusses, I have seen many cases of this, will be covering on a future video). As well as children and the elderly ie all the vulnerable times of life where body less able to cope.

Excellent! Who knows better what is good for us than the One who brought us into existence? When my Lord forbid some foods and made others permissible, it was because in His perfect wisdom, He knows the harms and benefits of what He created. I consume animals meats, and sometimes just cook my meats in the fat that comes with it. I consume butter, milk and dairy. And despite being told I need to bare my skin to facilitate the production of vitamin D, as a Muslim woman who covers herself as per religious requirements, I am only slightly vit D deficient. That’s because of the animals products I eat. I do need to spend more time out. I rarely do. So that would be sufficient to bring my vit D to normal. Praise be to Allah, who has given us all the guidance we need for optimal health. It’s just a shame most of us are ignorant about Islam and aren’t taught to implement it from birth - hence the mess we’re in. On top of that people have been frightened by doctors about eating animal meats/fats & products. It took me a frustrating few years to convince my mother egg yolk is actually good for her. And that God He created everything in due proportion. “He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: no son has He begotten, nor has He a partner in His dominion: it is He who created all things, and ordered them in due proportions.” (Quran 25:2) So He would not make for us permissible what is harmful - except in excess which He has already forbidden. I can’t thank you enough for this incredible video. God willing I will be sharing it with my contacts.

I avoided giving them empty calorie sweet snacks and crisps as well as pop and squash juice and our dentist said she could tell their diet by their teeth the minute they opened their mouths.
I made a point of avoiding McDonald’s and anywhere we would eat out I would not order off the children’s menu unless they did child portions of proper meals.
To this day they will choose a carvery to eat if we’re out over all the junk on offer, though the oldest does love a good large steak and brings one home every week from his Saturday job.

    • @MarmaladeINFP

Dr. Weston A. Price was born in 1870 and died in 1948. In 1900, when he was 30 years old, the average age for men was 46. By 1950, two years after his death, the average age for men had only risen to 66. Even in recent years, the average male life expectancy has been hovering around 73-74. So, Dr. Price outlived most of his contemporaries and still lived longer than most Americans today.
It's all relative, but it is unfair to compare him to present longevity data. My grandmother died in the Aughts. She was kept alive almost to age 90, in spite of having obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, strokes, crippling arthritis, and a broken spine. Modern medicine can keep people alive a lot longer, sometimes many decades after they would've died naturally, but that isn't the same thing as healthspan.

This is such a childlike view of health and nutrition. To say that oh this mammal has all the things that I made out of so therefore if I eat it I'll be healthy. That's just false. It does not speak to the mechanisms at play or the physiological situations and interactions that are going to happen between chemicals that are similar to your own bodies makeup. Let's just say there's a reason why people who eat plants live much longer lives than people who eat lots of meat.

According to biology you are very wrong. You cannot defy nature. Humans require meat in our diet because we cannot utilise cellulose as a fat source which is what herbivores are able to do.

Hongkong. Highest meat consumption worldwide, longest life expectancy.

@@tomlauris You don't think it has anything to do with the exercise and lack of stress people have? There are plenty of meat eating nations who's life expectancy is not so high. Also the people who make it to a hundred are usually plant based. In fact the longest living people in the world are. 7th day Adventist in California.

@@superfinevids Actually there's a 2022 study comparing 175 countries that found "meat intake is positively correlated with life expectancies".
