This is a better s class replacement than the "normal" eqs because of the headroom and the seating position. It would be great to have a 4/5 seat option.
Mercedes really doesn't know how to take advantage from the EV platform. No frunk, no underfloor booth compartment. Basically old design approach. Tesla and Lucid both show how much more practical cargo space one can accommodate within EV car. Nothing really exciting here unfortunately.
@@philsmtbs2956 Point is Merc designs it's EV cars with old engineering principles in place. Tesla, Lucid, Rivian show how much more accommodating EV platform can be. Personally I drive Model Y and I just love it's extra storage in front (imagine you want to deliver home some smelly roasted chicken from restaurant and you don't want that smell to go around your car so the "frunk" is a perfect storage for it), and then at the back with huge underfloor compartment that basically makes MY at least as accommodative as a class bigger ICE SUV. Packing for holiday is that much more easier. GLS is mainly purchased by people with large families who also appreciate luxury, but who also care about the "image" and who can't accept to be seen in MVP. EQS SUV is focused on GLS line of customers. I would expect Merc engineers to do a better job.
@@Tom_Mroz Tesla is bought by tech geeks who buy the hype and aren't bothered about the panel gaps, interior quality and handling. I'd expect tesla engineers to do a better job. Interesting. First ev that has seriously grabbed my attention. It looks lovely but I want to see an on road test of it. My daily suv right now is a 2020 mazda cx 5 which is good tbf but want to upgrade as it is the vehicle I use most. Gonna spend less on my other cars and improve the one I use most and this Benz kind of has it all, as in what my needs are
Dont overlook the BMWs, as a long time BMW fan the looks are not great these days - but the quality and performance is really good. If you are a driver who likes cars that handles well (Mazda Cx5 is both comfortable and good looking in my eyes) then be sure to check them out atleast. In my mind BMW makes the most interesting EVs these days, but thats a personal preference without basis in facts or figures.
@@Davierraven I am too. They look more like products instead of cars. The SUV still looks like a Honda, but the proportions of the front looks better on this than the other EQ models
The fact that this is an SUV and there’s no frunk drives me crazy…I guess maybe no one is buying these to actually move stuff around in but come onnnn!
Usually I replace my car every 2 years or so. Bought the Tesla X in 2017. Still no plans to sell. Some things even this Benz doesn't have: - life long charging (no charge) with many charging stations easily available (if you know what time to go) - Butler doors. You walk to the car and the doors open automatically (and close when you press the brake). - Butterfly rear doors. I know, some people hate them, my family and friends absolutely love them - helicopter dome front-glass. It's just amazing, never get used to it. Almost a more airy feel then my weekend convertible car. I love the benz's interior. Class leading.. Exterior is good but so is my Tesla (I pimped it a little, it's the best looking X in Hong Kong for quite some years now, ha ha). Surely won't trade in my X for this Benz.
@@crackerjackB If you compare with similar 7 seater SUV's it's much better. I drove the XC90 (Jeremy Clarkson says it goes around corners like a giraffe and he's right), Q7 and X5 before so I have a pretty good idea about standards in this 'class'. Concerning speed; in 5 years lost only once a traffic light dash. It's not about testosterone! In a 3 to 4 to 5 lane traffic light situation you always choose the outer lane and zoom past everybody while nobody in the car protests your aggressive driving style :) Long story short; in the city you overtake anything anywhere while the car stays balanced. Should mention a dislike; around 50k kilometers on the odo the front suspension had to be replaced. Both sides. Make sure you get it done (it seems to be a commonly known problem) before the 5-year warranty expires.

@@yungboicontigo9278 Even I know that, but the sedan isn't as good of a package as the suv.
Nice , but 100 grand for this ?
No thanks , I'd just get a fully loaded S-Class , looks classier !
Thats a sedan tho
A full S-class for 100k ?
@@jonasbobby1791 used
@@jonasbobby1791 Well, not the S-600, maybe the S-350 .
@@gregorygant4242 in Germany the S350d starts at 100k xD
Can't believe Mercedes is sticking with this design language 🤦♂️
Loved your lap with Misha 😁 the Merk looks like another EV 🥱
The best EV Mercedes Benz has produced! Stunning. Looking forward to buying one

Mercedes really doesn't know how to take advantage from the EV platform. No frunk, no underfloor booth compartment. Basically old design approach. Tesla and Lucid both show how much more practical cargo space one can accommodate within EV car. Nothing really exciting here unfortunately.
The idea that you'd buy this for "practical cargo space" 😂🤣😂
@@philsmtbs2956 The idea that you would not buy it for "practical cargo space" 🤣
Think you're mistaking it for that new electric transit van 👍
Going on holiday and carrying chicken around happen once in a blue moon. I'm bothered about what the experience of driving it every day feels like. 👍
Thank you Mercedes for making it so easy for me to stay with Tesla. I simply do not like ugly cars.
That's some guts... Feel like kinda +1
You prefer driving around in a fish?
@@pbutok better than driving in a 🧼 or a 🐋 lmao
@@pbutok I also do not like the look of the Model Y, even I would need a bit more space. But I will keep my Model 3. Best value for my money, just my personal taste.
Looks so much better as a SUV than as a sedan
Love how ur showcasing this car and i get a EQS ad😂
That subtle jab at Doug at the start 😂😂
Really can't wait for the AMG version
This looks 10 times better than the sedan! Finally a decent looking EQ model to join the other good looking ones like EQC, EQB, EQA
"1.3 million little mirrors in them to direct the light exactly where it needs to be"
Yah, directly in my eyes coming the opposite direction
in my toyota kluger/highlander, last seat headrest folds itself when in tuck it down !!
i didn't excepted this small feature failure from merc !!
MB did a good job this looks really nice. Back seats should be full auto when having to lay them down is my only gripe.
That jump at the start omg the flow of the jump I'm hard
Now this, this looks so much better than the sedan.
I love that center console trim
The EQE and EQS looks like a 2010 Honda Civic. The suv tho looks alright 👏🏽
Honestly, I'm very disappointed in this design coming from mercedes.
@@Davierraven I am too. They look more like products instead of cars. The SUV still looks like a Honda, but the proportions of the front looks better on this than the other EQ models
I’d buy. That hyper screen is something else 😂👍🏼
The fact that this is an SUV and there’s no frunk drives me crazy…I guess maybe no one is buying these to actually move stuff around in but come onnnn!
Usually I replace my car every 2 years or so. Bought the Tesla X in 2017. Still no plans to sell. Some things even this Benz doesn't have:
- life long charging (no charge) with many charging stations easily available (if you know what time to go)
- Butler doors. You walk to the car and the doors open automatically (and close when you press the brake).
- Butterfly rear doors. I know, some people hate them, my family and friends absolutely love them
- helicopter dome front-glass.
What about the handling? Anything else you like about x
In a 3 to 4 to 5 lane traffic light situation you always choose the outer lane and zoom past everybody while nobody in the car protests your aggressive driving style :)
Long story short; in the city you overtake anything anywhere while the car stays balanced.
Should mention a dislike; around 50k kilometers on the odo the front suspension had to be replaced. Both sides. Make sure you get it done (it seems to be a commonly known problem) before the 5-year warranty expires.
This guy should have his own talk show
History repeat's itself!
Mercedes is THE luxury car producer.
Since I can remember everybody wanted some mercedes model.
It would be interesting to see what AMG department will do to it.
And BRABUS of course 😎
