The fact you were willing to go under a car held up by only a jack and a rock on a dirt road makes this video deserve a million likes. You my friend are a daredevil and I respect it.

There is not just a rock, there is also a big piece of log under it, redundant safety, jackstands in that dirt would have just sank. If anything, he is a much safer mechanic than Americans here doing oil changes with bottle jacks. A+. This vid gave me lots of pointers.

I have been wrestling with half of the trans axle being stuck in the transmission for near on a a full day now, tried clamps / pullers / j bars etc etc.... this video was my last hope, and the good old Hammer & over sized flat head masonry ? drill bit from behind has finally done the job!!!!! after hours of tapping away and finding the optimum angle Peter Fin....... thanks a million man. all the way from Melbourne, Australia... where we would consider your fine self a "....Bloody Legend ! " 10/10 , excellent !!!

Not everyone has all the stuff to do work on their cars, I have used stuff that I had no choice to use and got the job done and saved $100 if not $1000's of dollars by avoiding a trip to the shop. The main things are safety and not breaking other stuff while fixing your car. He did both and got the car fixed. I think him taking the time to explain the procedure deserves respect. Thanks for making the video. 😎👍

Nice video. This job can be a pain in the ass. I've done this job before but forgot the trick I used yo get the out. I couldn't get a pry bar or screwdriver between the axle and the drive axle because the sub frame didn't give me enough clearance. I used a chisel eith a hammer on the drive axle and it came right out.

I've got the repair manual for the Corolla, and alternative to the wood block for the breaks and having it in gear you can put a pry bar in-between 2 of the threads for the lugnuts and lock that against the floor, although I would imagine that would be easier on the 5 lug cars like my 04 Corolla.

You don't have to mess around putting wood blocks on your brakes and all that to keep the wheel from spinning. Just put a bar in between the lug studs and touching the ground to keep it from spinning. Or put the wheel back on and lower the car down just until you break the axle nut loose.

The easiest way to loosen the axle nut is to insert a flat screw driver on the outer edge of the rotor. You have enough room to insert one and put it against the brake caliper bracket, it will not turn!

10vuotta vanha video, mutta olis kyssäri mestarille aiheeseen liittyen.
    Itellä on vm.99 manuaali e11 1.6 4afe:lla. Onko tietoa noiden vetoakselien yhteen sopivuuksista 1.6-1.3, automaatti-manuaali, vvtkone facelift-prefacelifti?
Ite pitäs akseli vaihtaa, mutta motonetti myy pelkkää vetoniveltä joten pitää hakea purkuautosta osa tai tilata ulkomailta eikä 100% tietoa mikä sopii.

Why don't you loosen that spindle nut while it is on the ground with the tire on, then jack it up.
