Most people don't know this but F-Zero is as old as the super Nintendo itself. The first release was in Japan and the only other game was Super Mario World.
Tael64 Super Mario Kart had bad handling and drifting and I could never win a race on 150cc because of how bad the controlling was. F-Zero handles so much better and is the better racer even though it lacks a 2-Player mode.
My buddy and I used to play this as kids. We used Game Genie and had "autofire" always on controllers to keep our turbo on 100% of the times, rendering brakes useless. The pink car sucked for cornering at that speed, but the Blue Falcon worked great. You'd have to literally bounce off of some wall in order to play through but my best time is 1:19:02 for all laps completed. Golden Fox would explode since you were FORCED to slam into walls to get around certain parts. Never made it past 2nd lap, even with a recharge. So... blue falcon di did it for me. Chris and I competed for "turbo only" times. It made it hard to steer but that was part of the challenge. Silence was my track.
JSSTyger Well, just to make clear what I'm about to say, no, not all sharp corners. There are some turns in the game where it's too sharp that sometimes bumping off the wall in a certain way can help make the turn while facing straight. Other turns, it's better to slow down, but with the red car that's really bad in accelerating very slow in low speed trying to get to top speed, it was better to maintain my speed by bumping off that wall after that sharp turn so I wouldn't have to lose so much speed, drive so slow, and let every car pass me.
JSSTyger There's a tool-assisted "world record" where someone slowed down the game, and during the race, the player made the two-way sharp turn WITHOUT bumping off from the wall, but that's too hard to pull off perfectly, especially when playing the game normally without slowing the game down, so I just bump off from the wall. lol
not every car needs to ram walls. only the pink one since it doesn't do great on sharp turns. if you do this with yelllow and blue one you'll lose control and a lot of energy.

It's entirely possible to recover from bouncing if you let go of the accelerator and restart the engines almost immediately after the collision. This 'resets' the control of your car if timed correctly. However, it's still entirely possible to lose control if you do it too soon or hit too many walls/hit too hard. This game is absolutely brutal is essentially the point lol When I race as Blue Falcon (which is almost always) I tend to only smack into walls on a select few courses. Silence is a good example of an opportunity to save time with one or two bounces, but Fire Field is by far the most productive place to bounce. Particularly if you use a turbo right after.

This is great - I always sucked at Master Class, I don't think I ever beat Mute City on Master... I'm personally better with a keyboard (once I found an optimum layout - I have to have my direction keys on my left hand and the buttons on my right; I use AEDG and the number pad) since I can hit more buttons at one time than I can on a controller. It might take some getting used to, but maybe try changing your layout and see if it helps, or use a gamepad? CPU car totally gets owned at 2:54. :D

The game is fantastic, but about the sounds I am sorry to tell isn't the best... but still is on the top tier, along Secret of Mana, Terranigma, Super Soccer 2 and Super Soccer 94 (who has great music)

Damn, I hated master difficulty so much, its like the race ai is the same as expert except all the pedestrian cars try to crash into you.
