@@ephemeraltimekeeper8127 Yeah, I think the TAS will only do the 2nd attempt if there's an RNG component that gives better results in the retry, like in the monster pull.
This is somehow one of those games that never made it to one of the arcades I frequented when I was 15 :( The fact that you do the *extremely Japanese* thing of catching a nuke and throwing it back where it came from is just fucking excellent. Also kudos to you for playing through with what is definitely the best character.
Holy crap, the name of the game is "Mach Breakers"? I remember this title being in the local arcade for years. I could not remember the title of it, but remembered it was a bit like Track and Field, but with superheros. Really cool to see the actual game again after decades.

I've been wanting a TAS of Numan Athletics and Mach Breakers for at least 20 damn years since I've seen this in the arcade lol, thanks for finally uploading it.
It’s a crying shame that for the character that had so much energy in her voice for the Japanese version, there seemed to be no vocal direction whatsoever in the overseas version. It really does a disservice to the character.
@@quillion3rdoption Arguably, until Resident Evil 2 it was considered a necessity at best, and a waste of money at worst, and even then you have stuff like Ace Combat 3 where they just take out the entire story instead of translating it.
I have never heard of this game! Talk about a sleeper masterpiece wow. I can't believe Namco never released this outside of Japan or ported it to other consoles like Sega Saturn or Dreamcast.
Idk i don't see any Katakana or Hiragana. Also if it didn't make it to consoles it's because nobody outside japan cared about this game. It's idealistic and rather self-centered to impose these propositions regardless.
Had no idea this game existed. An Action olympics game. They really made games out of anything back in the day lmao. It looks fun as hell. So sad that these kinds of games are hardly made anymore. The 90s arcade scene was golden
Huh! I never knew there was a sequel to _Numan Athletics._ I kinda miss Sharon from the first game - she was super-cute - but I'm okay with Shao-Yen as her "replacement". That aside, this game definitely keeps the feeling of the original, which is awesome. Great stuff! *Edit:* 19:12 - Ah! She's _back!_ Namco, you awesome people~ ❤️
Sharon and Shao-Yen are hot in their one piece swimsuit style leotards and boots. Were these games not so obscure, I would love to see a beautiful female cosplayer in those outfits. Also, I tend to think of Shao-Yen as some sort of descendant of Sakura Kasugano.
The weird thing is, “Shao-Yen” was originally a Japanese character named Makoto. Not sure why they chose to change her name and nationality for the localisation.
Wish that rocket ski jump to glide event was in the actual Olympics. Really entertaining stuff. The dash and ice wall sprint smash is pretty epic too! 💪😁

I can't imagine trying to play this game on actual arcade hardware. Not only would the lack of frame-advancing make it nearly impossible, the cost of having to constantly replace buttons would be astronomical.
I love how in some of these the record is just barely beaten, while in others it gets completely obliterated because the tas is given much more room to shine, getting 99999 points on the reaction time one is just insane, lol
