That interview gave me a lot of hope. It was full acknowledgement of some of the faults we've come to know in DS3, and that's not something you often hear from developers of already successful franchises. I fully anticipate that they will be addressing our concerns. Cheers, Fel!
Why do I discover this channel so late? Thank you YT and guess a shoutout in reverse to Noname, for bringing us together. ☺️ Btw I slowly get hyped for Elden Ring. Everything just sounds right. :)
Those few lines about PvP being back really gave me an incredible amount of excitement for this game! I too really loved hearing that Miyazaki seemed excited to have invasions back, and I think we in the invasion community like to revel a little too much in our doom and gloom about people not liking invasions. The game's creator clearly seems to believe them an important part of his vision, and has included invasions in 5 out of the last 6 games they've made, despite all of the extra development cost that supporting a PvP game takes. While the mention of "optional PvP" might scare some invaders out there, I think it's important to recognize Miyazaki's enthusiasm for invasions and to consider that he didn't just say "PvP is now optional", he said "There will be invasions and, let's say, optional PvP". There's another wrinkle there that I suspect will not make PvP allll that optional. I think the invader community should keep an open mind about whatever we end up getting in Elden Ring in terms of invasions. It's important not to become too attached to how invasions worked in in DS3 simply because it's the one we've become the must comfortable with. Much like DS3 telling us to let go of the Age of Fire and to the Dark Souls IP as a whole, it is time we start to let go of the way we know invasions work and embrace what is to come. Lastly, I fucking love the bonefist in the offhand @02:22. Few things are as enjoyable as jump kicking an opponent off of a ledge with the running attack, even if I too go flying over that ledge with them.
I didn’t get much use out of it but yeah I LOVE offhand Bone Fist. And yeah I totally agree, seeing how much Miyazaki likes invasions is a great reminder of how much thought he devotes to this part of his games. No wonder we all love it so much
Cant wait to see everyone in elden ring. Burned out a bit on traditional pvp in souls games, and have been on the ashes servers since. But a new title, a fresh meta, new players and old players alike... man Im so excited. Just another... eight months. Oh hey is that the pick and poker video in my recimmended?... ill be back in 20 mins
I do wish that we could be able to choose if we want to be added to the "Solo Invasion" connection pool. Ring the "Brave Bell" to allow Invasions without companions present. Such mechanic would be absolutely brilliant and fitting with the games theme of customization. I do LOVE the fear of being invaded and finding myself in unexpected encounters that spice up the gameplay. Please take notes @BANDAI NAMCO
Do you think fromsoftware will do a stress test like what they did for ds3 on launch? If they do we will be able to understand how much diferent pvp will be whit stealth, verticality from jumps, interchangable weapon arts etc, and my biggest fear how strong are straigth swords going to be....... I don't want another straigth meta
I think they will, since they always do with their network games. Also it’s tough to say with Straightswords, since they get better with every game. However it’s worth mentioning that we see a straightsword in the trailer, right when we hear the line “foul tarnished in search of the Elden Ring”, the character charges an R2 and it looks like a Bloodborne Ludwig’s Holy Sword R2. If it mimics Bloodborne’s straightsword moveset it’d be a lot more balanced than DS3. Still very strong, but not as busted as BB Saw Cleaver or DS3 Lothric Knight Sword.
Can't wait to find the new sun bro covenant, I'm on ps5 as well so maybe I'll be able to literally ask people where they found stuff with the built in mic
i wish FROM games make coop seamless in the game...like if you invite a player for coop.. he remains with you through your entire game session regardless of where you are...after beating a boss he remains with you.. it's even better if both players share same game progression.. in today's games i find it lame that i had to coop with a friend being the host then doing it again with him.. just in order for us both to be in same progression..
In the Russian interview I linked above, Miyazaki talked about how Co-op will work like the Souls games, with the phantoms dispersing after the boss is dead. I understand the draw of seamless coop, but the game is designed with objective-based online so everyone has a goal to work for. This makes all online feel intentional, and it eliminates any awkwardness that comes from dawdling in an online game with no goal in mind, esp when there is no in-game communication system. And having objective based online also lets the system work as intended, with random players. I think it’s kind of wonderful that you can interact just as well with strangers as you can with friends within the constraints of the Souls online system. Hopefully you can still find enjoyment with ER with that in mind
@@Felicificity actually there is a game which solved this issue.. or you could say.. has better coop system.. even being a fanboy of souls series and truly understand the beauty of souls series coop/pvp system which is integral part of the game experience it self.. i really liked what nioh2 offers in coop system much more better.. the host opens a session for friends to join, then you get to select which mission/area to play and eventually there is a boss to kill.. all players would share same story progression.. and the game have no problem repeating some missions/goals.. elden ring can improve their coop.. i know it's an open world where each player might have totally different approach to the world.. at least make all players in party able to progress with host.. or pompt non hosting players if their action with host would be applied to their world progression.. there are many ways FROM could improve coop..
@@Felicificity the reason I ask you questions coz my e English is second language.. I hope its true u can do co op with random players thanks for reply 😇
I don't have PS+ so I won't be able to participate in any invasions, PvP, or receive any help, but I'm hoping that there's at least some accessible online feature like there is in Sekiro.
I’m almost 100% sure that will be the case. On current Fromsoft games, PS4 and PS5 share matchmaking servers. And Bandai said that PS4 players can get a free PS5 performance upgrade patch for their copy of Elden Ring once they get a PS5, so it seems PS4 and PS5 will be largely identical except for technical performance. So it should operate the same as Dark Souls and Bloodborne.
Thanks for the report, Fel! Hype is increasing by the day

God I am excited
That dude falling off the map with the Farron weaponart was 👌
Made me absolutely cackle, it’s my favorite thing to do against the Farron

This is very heartening news, thanks for the reporting!
Im just so excited, the more details we get the better the game looks. Its gonna be a blast for every type of players!
Completely agree Jee, it’s looking so good. Excited to see what you can do with the new mechanics 💪

I love how he specifically says pvp is optional. So I can probably just turn it off for my first playthrough without having to play offline.
That’s certainly one interpretation

How many can you co op with? And in co op can you continue your story with a friend or friends?
3 person co-op. Co-op follows the same rules as Dark Souls. You can play together until you beat a boss then you can summon them in the next area.
Hoping for crossplay
Hi fel like to know can we do co op with random players or only online friends???? Thank you
Random players and online friends can both co-op with you :)

My biggest hope is cross gen ps5 edition players of elden can play with ps4 edition players
