Y'all keep doing what you do. I lived off grid back in the early 80's and I loved it for about 2 years. We had no power, outhouse for the bathroom, cooked off a Woodstock, lanterns for light. Best days of my life.

We've become a nation of TRIBAL PEOPLE. East & West coast don't live like the Midwest & South. I'm somewhat rural Illinois & people here eat venison & cut trees. If they don't like your channel, part ways. Just different lifestyles.
Your land ,your animals do what’s right for your family. I live in Mississippi people hunt for deer and hogs. Some people still process their farm animals. I was raise on a farm my dad killed our hogs and cows. That was how he feed our family . There was 10 in all if he hadn’t we wouldn’t have had any food. In the summer my mom can vegetables for the winter. We had chickens that they processed.
He also cut the trees on our land for firewood and had it saw milled to help build whatever we needed. Keep up the good work.

A agree, enjoy learning and I learn something new everyday. Enjoy theur channels and have learned a lot. Never understood the complete workings of a septic system, but now I sure do! What a great feeling that must be! You have your own land with your own trees. You bought it with your own hard-earned money. You cut down your tree yourself with the tool you bought yourself and then a bobcat you bought yourself. You then saw milled your own Lumber yourself to the width, Breadth and lengths you needed it. You then built a structure out of it yourself. How awesome is all of that! God bless you and the strength God gave you to do this!
My parents built my childhood home when they were expecting me. My dad and my grandpa went into my grandpa’s wood to cut the trees and mill them. They did everything on their own. That provided me and my siblings with a strong, well-built childhood home. 😊❤️🇨🇦

The house I grew up in was heated with a wood stove in the basement. My dad used fans to direct the heat up the stairs.

We processed 150 meat chickens and gave them to needy families, we will process 7 hogs in a couble of weeks that will go to 50 familes then in Jan. we will process 7 steers. Helping others is what I enjoy doing. You are helping your family with everything you are doing. Opinions are like elbows we have them but who cares. Stay blessed and always DO YOU. I live in Ca but if they would go through and manage the forests like they should it would cut down on the fires we have to deal with. You are doing a great job managing your trees and everything else on your land.
I don't see anything wrong with cutting a tree down. Especially on my own property! With the cost of lumber, I think you are being smart by utilizing the resources at hand!! Have two dead tvs I need someone to haul out and recycle or whatever they do with them. I have a new one my son bought me still in the box. Haven't watched TV in years.
I stopped watching TV over 15 years ago because, with all those channels, there was nothing worth watching except the old movie channel. Wasn't worth the price. I'm just happy I eventually found out I can watch the really old movies on TH-cam.

I lost my wife to cancer 4 years ago August 31 and I would have loved to do what you and your family are doing but here in southern Idaho , cherish and treasure your wife and daughters they are what matters not so much us out here . Some people think that lumber grows on trees, wrong. It grows in trees, and you have to harvest the trees to get it out.
Thinning out trees helps the remaining trees stay healthy, getting more light and having more space. I love watching you using the chainsaw and saw mill. Takes me back to when I had a job chainsawing - for an environmental organisation :) Makes me wince seeing you not wearing all the safety gear we used to have to wear, mind, but hey, your limbs, your choice :P

Hey, a lot of these people live in neighborhoods that trees were clear cut to build there house and use that lumber to build houses. California government don’t manage there forests so when there is drought and fires they lose more than the under brush .
Sadly some people don't understand where these products come from. I was raised to use what God provides for us to use. Your land providing for your needs. Love the fact you use your own products for your family. Keep doing you for your family.

I have a 5 foot tall mulberry tree going in my raised bed. I was going to plant it, but not enough area for roots.. if you or your brother want it, come get it, it's a gift. Tell your brother it's the woman he met at the bait shop near locust Grove. You need 30 feet area with no lines above and below.
The homestead community does many things harvesting trees and animals. This is the purpose of becoming self sufficient lifestyle. God is providing for you and your family.

I grew up on a farm. We were poor. My Dad cut wood every year for firewood. He also did moose and deer hunting. He didn’t do it for sport but to feed his family. Nothing wrong with it. Love your videos.

Thinning your trees will help smaller trees to develop into healthy trees. Allows for more sun light so grass can grow, which helps with erosion and healthier soil.

Harvesting off your land is being a good landowner. Also raising your own meat means you know the quality of it. The same with your vegetables. When you can its the best choice.

Timber!! Putting that oak tree to good use, running it through your mill! Well done, Dutch! All those acorns are going to make new oak trees, in it's place, and you'll be able to mill plenty of new, needed boards, posts and sheets of new, good, hard oak wood!
Been dealing with the storm here in Nova Scotia, so for the last 14 days been clearing trees done about 20 only got about two hundred more to do. Lots of fire wood for next year. Plus some lumber to boot. From one vet to another Cheers. And tree huggers can go blow.
TELL THEM TO MID THEIR OWN DAD GUM BUSINESS , ASK THEM ABOUT THE HOUSE THEY LIVE IN WHAT ITS MADE OUT OF
It’s your property. Sometimes if you don’t cut them down, they will rot. Other times, you need it to heat your home or for siding. Trees don’t have souls. You can’t “murder” a tree. Responsible cutting/removing is needed. Also makes grazing land, room to build a home, pasture land, grain fields. Etc. it all works together.

I grew up here in Alaska so when I moved to California I had never seen apples or fruit on trees ! I thought the plane over heated but it was still hot at the airport parking lot . It was a culture shock for sure ! After moving back to Alaska 4 years ago there are apples and other fruit trees growing up here ! That shocked me lol ! But I am happy about that !

I live in Northern California. I don't own guns but have lots of friends who do and it's their life! There are always different lifestyles for every region. If folks don't want to watch your channel, move on. You and your family are wholesome and the children adorable. Folks here in New England have been raising animals for their own freezer for generations, same thing goes with heating with wood in wood stoves and fireplaces. Winters get pretty cold up here so it's always good to have an alternative source of heat.

Yeah, they just don’t get it. I love trees and animals. And I couldn’t raise animals to process as I’d get too attached. BUT I understand that you guys are living the life and are able to farm. You have the land, ability, and desire. That’s all good. I was sad about that tree as it was beautiful, but look at the incredible lumber you got. It’s serving a purpose. The pigs are serving a purpose as food for your family. It’s all good. ❤️

I grew up in logging country, that is until those who get mad at you decided to shut down logging. Now my home town is besieged by fires every year. Cut at your hearts content, amazingly other trees will grow to replace the ones you harvest.
Dutch and company, I was raised on a small farm, (80 acres). Loved 4-H, knew where our meat and eggs came from and treated all living beings with with respect. I understood that meat doesn't come wrapped in plastic, eggs produce baby birds (if they're fertile and we don't cook them). Wood for building and heating came from living trees. The plants that fed our animals and ourselves grew from seeds we nurtured and took care of. I'll end my rant here.

Just spent 6 hours cutting up a tree that almost hit my home when Ian came through last week……here in Florida…..love trees but hey I am building a log home…..love wood…..If people dont like it…..well. We always plant new trees on our land…one we planted 13 years ago we had to take down it got so big! Planted another one.

I hate seeing big mature trees cut down because they took so long to grow that big, but I understand you need to clear your property and also need the wood for other projects like the shelter for the mini horses.
