- That's never happened to him before.
Today on the homestead we have some work to do on the inside of the house to get ready for this new masonary heater / fireplace to be installed over the next week. This is going to take care of our main source of heat this winter. We go to check on our pet kunekune pigs and what happened to him was a little disturbing because he has never done that before. Living off the grid in the woods while we build our house as been hard but has been worth it for sure.

It’s frustrating when people find fault and criticize others for what they do. I was raised in a way that if you have nothing nice to say; say nothing at all. Keep up the great work Dutch & Brandi ; y’all are doing what a lot of folks wish they could do.
Exactly!! I just think, if you don’t approve of something than get off the Channel. There are hundreds out there, go find one you do like! Or like Ann says….. just don’t say anything at all!

My Grandma died when I was 5 . The first thing I remember her telling me was to love Jesus . And if you can’t say something kind then you need to not say anything. My Grandpa told me baby what you put in your “ heart bucket”. Because it’s what will come back out in your words, and actions. I miss them both so much. I know that they are praising God and waiting on me.

Your house is really coming together and I love the layout. We have been talking about getting one of those heaters and are excited to see yours go in.
Use pressure treated lumber for the floor in the wood shed ,because I done the same kind of set up and from the moisture in the air made the sawmill wood rot and then you and the wood will fall thru, just a little thing I learned good luck, all of family is doing a get job.

My dad had a Road Island Red when he was a kid.He said, it made the best watch dog. No one entered their yard! Lol
People always say that pit bulls are mean That's all in how you raise them. But it's proven that the little ankle bitters are the ones that's the meanest. I have a pit bull and you have your German shepherd and you know that they could take Lily's head off if they wanted to. My pitbull lived with a Chihuahua before she died this past February. She put up with the Chihuahua although she was not mean. They respected each other. Lol Love your build and all that you are doing it looks great.

I love the size of your living space. We always entertained church groups…youth, pastors, missionaries, small groups, etc and meals. So, go for it. Then, I’m excited about the expansion of animals on the farm. Awesome!

Looking forward to seeing the finished fireplace! It sounds so awesome! We have a freestanding wood heater in our home and in our tire and auto service business. LOVE wood heat! We also mix dry and green wood. The chimneys go straight up and we have chimney brush for cleaning.

Dutch., you may want to double the size of your wood shed. This will be an especially cold winter and that means you will be burning more wood. If you do not use all of it, great but if you do not have enough then you will have a problem. Remember last winter and multiply at least by 2.

I’m allergic to cats too. Don’t scratch your nose or eyes after touching them too. That is important and wash hands right away before you touch your clothes or other people either.
Golden Comets can lay 365 eggs a year. I had some and it is true. No matter what was happening they laid eggs every day!

When the pigs lay on there side take a stick and gently scratch their tummy. That way the other pig won’t bite you or harm you. They love their bellies scratched. The home is really taking shape. Exciting. My back hurts watching you work so hard.

My husband played slow pitch, the team hats were white, I’ve cleaned many a white hat this way
Soak the hat in hot water then mix some liquid dishWASHER soap with a bit of water and brush it on in the inside of the hat with a fingernail brush or other smaller brush. If really nasty you can soak the entire hat in a mixture of dishwasher soap and water. For a white hat this worked wonders.
For a colored hat I highly suggest you Test your soap someplace it won’t show to make sure your dishwasher soap doesn’t include any bleach like substance that will discolor a colored hat or the decoration on the hat . Dawn dish soap may work also.
