  • Today we take a look at Silverstone Circuit, Towcester NN12 8TN.
    We speak to gatehouse security regarding the best place to film and fly from which sparks a conversation about a No Drone Zone on the site.
    I explain the ON Site and OVER the Site difference but they are insistent that I am not allowed.
    They even go as far as saying they have equipment on site which will take drones down.
    Google Maps 360 Degree Drone Photo = goo.gl/maps/Z9brM7zmhqczuiF87
    Enjoy!

      Reminds me of companies in US that utilize cheap cell phone jammers, which violates FCC regulations. I believe it's mainly three letter agencies that use cell site emulators to intercept traffic. However unauthorized transmission on frequencies that cell phones and drone controllers work on is an issue, especially the act of jamming. Unfortunately the FCC is underfunded and it can be difficult for them to pursue legal action.

    Watched many audits on TH-cam, what appears to be common behaviour is the superiority projection of folk who work at high profile event locations or film crews who bark out orders. Just because they might get a glimpse of a sports star or ‘VIP’ at times, they talk down to people who they don’t think are of any importance. A good example is random outing audits at Newcastle Utd the other day.
    Well done DJ.

    • @jaredburgess8381
      @jaredburgess8381 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Well said. And absolutely true. It's the same when you see a film set. They ALWAYS overstep their bounds there, too. If they see you filming they'll tell you that you can't even if you're in public. They're just so, so important, you see.

    • @danielgardecki1046
      @danielgardecki1046 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Another good example is a video in my city Bradford, by a channel I can't remember, in a location I can't remember, sometime in the last 5 years (I lose track of time, so it could be more recent than I think), where a film crew was filming something.
      My memory tells me the video was filmed on either Thornton Road or Sunbridge Road, yet that seems unlikely as hardly anything has filmed there, so it was more likely somewhere in Little Germany, or the Bolton Road/Holdsworth Road area around Napoleons Casino.
      What did it involve?
      It involved someone from the film crew (who I seem to remember was something like a production manager) trying to stop a photographer from Bradford's Telegraph & Argus newspaper taking photos in a public place.
      The "production manager" then grabbed the photographers camera and tried to take it off him, when the photographer refused to listen to the "production managers" orders.
      The English Game (2020) seems to be the most likely production, if my memory of the location is correct.
      However if my memory of the location is incorrect, then it will be something like:
      All Creatures Great and Small (2020-present), The Crown (2016-2023), Gentleman Jack (2019-2022), Peaky Blinders (2013-2022), The Duke (2020), Downton Abbey (2019), Victoria (2016-2019), The ABC Murders (2018) etc.
      Basically the main thing I can remember about that photographer attack video is that they were filming a period drama.

    You would need to de conflict your drone flying with any drones involved in filming on site as its a known test track, thats one reason to have permission from air ops ,also same applies with frequent heli use, they have an air ground station manned for events. Unless you liase directly you run the real risk of a mid air collision. So yes legally you can fly over, but its not wise to overfly an active aviation site or directly over a test track where distarctions can be risky.

    • @verycasualgamer1784
      @verycasualgamer1784 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly this. The Silverstone Aerodrome whilst it is activated and there are flight restrictions during events you are risking direct conflict with aircraft flying in the zone. There are frequent helicopter flights. In line with the law the onus is on you to check the NOTAMs at the time of your flight and ensure that you are in direct line of sight with the drone at all times.

    They do get a FRZ during F1 weekend imposed by the CAA, I think there is an article to BBC News in 2019 on an incident over a race weekend.
    Not sure about the Heliport.
    I do never get bored of them slowly realising they are losing the argument over them not owning what is above the land.
    I didn't know where some of the team 2023 car launches were going to be, perhaps using that as an argument, is doing the opposite of protecting that IP.
