The manager guy made a reasonable point that is lawfully enforceable. If he's flying his drone up to the windows he very likely is impinging on the right to privacy of those on the inside, that could be construed as a breach of the peace.

Why do you auditors allow police to get away with violating their filming policy and GDPR, here's what I would do. I would not ask the officer if they were filming, I would wait til the police interaction is over, go to their police station give the officers numbers and ask if the interaction with the officers was filmed. Once I was told it was filmed I would then make a complaint against the officer for violating policy and GDPR for not telling me. That complaint would have to be upheld, and the officer would be disciplined.

The manager guy made a reasonable point that is lawfully enforceable. If he's flying his drone up to the windows he very likely is impinging on the right to privacy of those on the inside, that could be construed as a breach of the peace.

Hands in pockets, getting pissed off, trying to back up the manager of a business who wants to intimidate the enforcement of a policy through police action. When I speak to people I don't ever have my hands in my pockets. I learned that in the army.
I know it is easy for me to say and I hope you continue doing what you do but I do wish you would be more assertive with the police. By being as ‘nice’ as you are you allows them to activate their perceived authority over you and leaves you looking weakened and submissive.

GDPR REQUIRES them to inform you. They are breaking the law by not telling you they are recording your personal data. If you're going to audit, read out what it says in the police handbook and have the blackbest barrister video clip on hand if necessary
They know what's in the policy, they just choose to gloss over the covert filming they do ,or just say "whoops", I forgot to tell you of the recording, it's amazing how many cops develop amnesia ( temporarily) whilst covertly recording you .

Why do you auditors allow police to get away with violating their filming policy and GDPR, here's what I would do. I would not ask the officer if they were filming, I would wait til the police interaction is over, go to their police station give the officers numbers and ask if the interaction with the officers was filmed. Once I was told it was filmed I would then make a complaint against the officer for violating policy and GDPR for not telling me. That complaint would have to be upheld, and the officer would be disciplined.
