Got my repair kit yesterday, paint match BANG ON, watched video whilst doing job probs saved myself £££, 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 for repair kit, 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟for video, keep up the good work guys
I appreciated your throroughness throughout this DIY; especially, like how you pointed out users' expectations. The quite amazing results surpass the ease, low cost and speediness of the process. Thanks for sharing.
Use a denibbing file rather than sand paper, it will cause a lot less damage to surrounding paint/clear coat and flatten the new paint much better, also wipe the scratch with isopropyl alcohol before applying paint to make sure there are no contaminants in the scratch. Very good result though, may not be 100% perfect but if you didn't know it was there you wouldn't be able to see it which is the best you can hope for with touch up repairs.
@@MDOP1 Sounds like it, just google denibbing file and you will see what I mean, look like small metal block with rounded off edges with a serrations on one side.
"If you catch it at the wrong angle you can still see it." I had to raise the resolution to 720p and still squint to see where it was. Awesome vid. Glad I found this channel today. 😅
Top video, as a newbie I thought I would have had to respray before polishing, I have a few scratches to fix, and some kerb rash too. A very informative and interesting video, thank you! No disrespect to our brothers across the pond, but so good to see some UK content...
Great method. I use similar, but fine very lacquer spray finish, cut and polish. Will now try base coat lacquer mix, much quicker! Just one thing, would be good advice to protect surrounding area against possible paint drips and damage from items your working with, particularly important if a customer car. Keep em coming. Thanks
I've found myself with about a dozen bottles of different compounds / polishes etc. It'd be nice if coarseness was routinely labeled (like wet and dry paper) so you knew what order to use them in. It's not always easy to tell. Thanks for the videos.

Another great video, got a pure silver R56 mini i will be having a go at scratch repair etc, will watch and rewatch these, as they are very helpful thanks!!!
Great video, easy to follow. The kit seems a good price, it's just a shame it doesn't include a few small pieces of the wet & dry sand paper as these generally have to be bought in bigger packs, and for small jobs you just don't need 8-16 large sheets of sandpaper.
You can get all that you need in the US. Color, clearcoat, brushes, compound/polisher, and 2000 grit sandpaper. nvm the brand of the products, just make sure the color matches.
Wowsers! That’s incredible! Defo going to try this…. For the novices amongst us, when you talk about “polish” many of us think of wax polish. But I’m guessing that some sort of cutting compound - can you share which one you’d recommend?
Very good. Also, people should always be aware that a repair, is barely visible, from even a short distance away. Not unlike viewing a wall-mounted picture/photo, if you like. Imperfections are there to be found, in all walks of life, if you push your nose against it? And how often does anyone do that?
Lovely work and a fine repair. I don't know what you use to film it, but could you get a polariser filter for it? It will take the reflections away and show your work off in a better light so to speak.
Many thanks for your valuable experience but I would like to ask can I add a clear coat + hardener ratio 2:1 with metallic paints for deep scratches repair or even light scratches
Nice tutorial for the DIYers, and I love your work. Looking at closeup of first coat paint, it seems the very top end of scratch was not painted, like you missed a spot. At the finish reveal, the same spot shows the defect, albeit very slight. Would you be able to redo that area, if you wanted to?
Great video . Going to buy one of these kits . Will mention I came from your video . Would be good to see you do a review on compounds on a budget . I know you used 3m fast cut . But there are so many would be good if you can give some understanding
Great videos and very helpful. I've watched a few of your videos, I am going to try and repair a few chips on my truck. I've been filling the holes with paint over the last few days building them up flush. I gotta say I'm very nervous to use sandpaper on the paint even if its 1500 or 2000. Although your examples are giving the courage to go for it. I have a few questions I'm hoping you can answer for me. I used the touchup match lacquer for my truck colour wondering if you know if the paint is good on its own or if I need to use the clear coat too. Also do you have any suggestions for polishing compound that I should use. Do I use a cutting compound first then a polishing compound or just straight to polish after the 2000 wet sand. Really appreciate the videos. You do some great work Thanks for sharing
Just go steady. Use a small block when sanding..plenty of water. Maybe a bit of soap or car shampoo for lube. 1500, 2000 and 3000 then a good compound. I like farecla g360. www.paintgear.co.uk sell some in 100g tube.
Great video with great advice! Very similar to ChrisFix's scratch repair guide. I do have some questions however. I happened to drop my motorcycle and i have a little concentrated bundle of deep scratches that I am repairing. I have purchased a paint match kit that came with the paint and clear coat. Since the scratches are very confined, do you suggest just taping off the area and filling in the scratches without necessarily worrying about the accuracy of the paint placement? Once all scratches are filled I intend on wet sanding until flush and applying 2-3 coats of clear to the repainted area. Wet sand again and buff for a nice shine. Your thoughts or tips are welcome :)
Great video. Just a suggestion: move the camera over when you're going have the hand in front of it or blocking the subject. Showing the quantities of each compound would have made the video even more detailed. ;)

It's always preferable not to be touching the good paint that much when doing sanding. You'd be surprised just how much clear coat you've just taken off. There is a tool called the Mirka mini file which avoids any damage to the surrounding paint as you file down just the high spot on the scratch/chip.
