Watching this video a year later, and I just checked ebay and I'm no longer seeing the crazy prices these tapes are selling for a year ago. Winning bids have reduced to a more realistic $300-$400 price range, and even that is pretty crazy.
@@SamshorrorNot always the case. I have some original late 90s DVDs and they're still as good as the day they came out. I think it's the care given and quality the product has that makes it last. I've also got original releases of VHS from the early days, as well as beta tapes and they're fine as well. Heat and moisture ruins a collection and when you learn the proper storage and care methods, then most of the time your collection will last. I remember the whole disc rot thing with low quality CDs from the 90s and early 2000s, but then again I still have those originals and they're also fine. Everything can fade and rot if given the chance, but care is the key.
@@HighwayGhost Storage and care has nothing to do with disc rot. It's not like tape or film. The discs just randomly deteriorate with time. Theres no predicting it or preventing it.

I just grabbed a top gun that is sealed....the one that sold for that money when compared to the other 20 that sold......seems like someone needs to wash their money..... I do have a mint....and I mean mint...Sealed T2. I plan on getting it graded next month. should be at least a 9.8 ....
I once sold a sealed Jason X tape for about $40 bucks. There's tons of less popular movies that can still be worth a little bit of money! Horror Movies and Animes could have their own separate lists. lol Crazy to think someone would drop that type of money on one.
Great video. But the majority don't keep them sealed and away. Could you do another video with used and open VHS tapes? I have Japanese classics opened and watched and 80s/90s wrestling and movie VHS tapes.
this is how the basic scam works - Fred & Barney are brothers - Fred puts his VHS tape on EBAY for a high price - Barney buys it .... Barney gives back the VHS tape to Fred - Fred gives back the money to Barney (everybodys even) .... but now, the fake price becomes real for a SUCKER !!
Pretty stupid when you're gonna have to pay a couple hundred bucks in eBay fees for selling something for a couple thousand dollars. So yeah that's not how it works but nice try.
I recently got back into collecting vhs movies and in my town i see lots of them at goodwill & st Vincent da paul vhs movies loose & others new sealed what are good titles to look for help me out.
@shanenice5380 I'm from a small town called eugene oregon where are you from yah its going to be a great day recently I pick up a nice 5inch black & white tv.
I have almost 300 vhs that I’ve bought over the years since they came out and bought to watch instead of thinking “o I’ll keep for 20-30 in case the be worth something…now I might buy a vhs to complete a series in vhs that I already have disc…I like to have sets…now those may be sealed…although mine kept boxes in good condition over years and tapes are excellent…but I got to watch…to make a long an incomplete comment (I know to late, pls don’t hate)but you get the ideal😉
I dont know a single vhs collector who would pay more than a few bucks for any common title, even if its sealed. You’re falling for the same type of thing people fell for with the most common Disney clams.
Too bad rare disney ones go for a lot of money, especially when some listings don't have a best offer option, making them a tough pill to swallow for a logo hunter. Trust me, I been purchasing plenty of walt disney VHS tapes from Germany, Australia, Netherlands, etc. For a few months now.
I'm confused about the Disney VHS stuff...I have a box full of old Disney classics with many different labels including sets of black diamonds , signature series, diamonds, and so on but they are worth anything
Nothing at all rare or interesting here. Most would go unsold at ten bucks. There are outlier auctions for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if the pictured auctions were full of shill bids or were money laundering operations.
Just this year, I payed $56 for a VHS version of Bratz Rock Angelz the movie. Just so I can rip it and post it online. Since it’s a very late VHS release from 2005, the price was high.
Crazy amounts of money for sealed VHS Tapes so how do you know when you do find a rare VHS in the wild what price guide do you go by when you put it up for auction and how many days also
I have an early release of Pinocchio that has the words pinocchio pink instead of red same way with the diamond outline behind his head . What do you think the value should be? What is a good tool to cross reference an error. I have the same sort of issue on the hunchback both errors are on the binder side. (Width) SIDE.
Those were some lame ass VHS picks, those are all movies that can be found literally everywhere. I love looking for the ones that are hard to find anywhere else. Like Carnosaur 2, Outland, Fail Safe, Tom Clancy's Net Force and so on. Good video though, that was fun.
I've got the Original Star Wars Trilogy Box Set THX I believe (before George Lucas decided to change them for the worse) but it's Beta not VHS. I'll never watch the changed movies EVER. I wonder what it's worth, I probably only watch them 3 times max. Perfect condition stored in my closet.

Grading companies inflate prices to sell grading services and then basically live off people making videos or articles about how much everything sold for.
