Goodwill is a for-profit business. If you need to donate something, find a local rescue mission or church organization.

Dee Dee - the ceo of the Vatican church makes trillions about which its continuity cannot even be measured in time intervals. In other words, we cannot say whether Vatican church earns profits per day or per year. They are the richest “organization” in the world. Funny enough it has nothing to do with Christendom lol

Just a comment on the part where they made the claim that anything donated to Goodwill goes to a good cause, that's because everyone believes Goodwill is a charity. BUT IT ISN'T. It's all pure profit going into the owners pockets, they are stores that don't have to buy stock because people give them stuff to sell. They do hire a small # of disabled people, but they don't even pay them minimum wage and they get tax breaks for hiring them. They sell some stuff cheaper than regular stores which may help out people who can't pay a lot for stuff, but there are a lot of places where you can find brand new stuff for the same price as what they sell stuff for.

Yeah. I have a Cousin that works 1 day a week at goodwill. They pay them by how many units they complete. Like for putting 4 screws in small plastic bag or putting stickers on small electronics. They don't make much money at all. He might make $8-$20 for the day. They're all Special Needs individuals and they do pick them up by van, and I suppose if it gives them a sense of accomplishment, it's okay, but I definitely agree with your comment.

No, incorrect. Goodwill stores are designated as 501c3 by the federal government and that means they are, by law, non-profit entities. Like it or not it's a fact.

Most of the valuable horror VHS tapes are ones with oversized boxes from distributors like Midnight, Continental, Wizard and others, typically selling for $75-200 with certain titles fetching even higher prices. The highest I've seen one sell for is $1100. The reason they're so valuable is that a lot of rental stores used to throw out the box or cut it up to put in a plastic snapcase because they wouldn't fit in their display shelves. There are a few that are common and not worth more than $10 or so but the majority are worth picking up.

When we got home i realized the had a deformity int the bottom of each, kinda like the porcelain had bubbled in the bottom. after inspecting them we noticed if held up to a light it was a finely detailed picture of a Japanese Geisha Woman. Looked them up, worth about $350 each. They are WW1 era.

Pretty basic stuff but pretty accurate...except for one idiotic know-nothing mistake: the steel 1943 pennies are amusing but they are the *common* ones! It's *copper* ones from that year, which weren't supposed to be made at all, which are worth a small fortune!

    • @matthewclark6127
      @matthewclark6127 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Don't EVER Sell or Trade the 1943 Steel and Copper Pennies at a Coin/Pawn Shop! 9 times out of 10 you will get majorly ripped off if you get Quoted $60.00-$120.00 and they quickly put that/those pennies hidden away before you can say,"Don't Keep That coin(s)" or "I want to keep this coin(s) for myself for the time being because I don't want to sell that coin(s) right now".
This personally happened to my mother not that long ago in which Royally pissed me off because I knew the TRUE REAL VALUE of it/them cause I myself am an Avid Coin Collector and have been now for almost 31 years now. ... I started collecting, etc. coins when I was close to about the age of 3 years old.
prior to that, my dad collected coins avidly for 68 years as he started collecting when he was a mere 4-5yrs old if that in the 1940's Era.
So I do have quite a good amount of a BIG Collection of coins, mostly Silver but do have a small collection amount of gold coins to diversify the silver.

Also got a little painting from a thrift store for $2. Cked artists name- I sold it for over $3,000. Also if you find stuffed bears with lable: Charleen Kinser Designs they can be worth alot. Found a bear, paid $5. - it's worth over $1000. - but I luv it. So keep you eyes opened-never know what you'll find. ( :

All one most do to discern the REAL truth about Good Will is take a quick glance at their "telling" logo/sign..
Plus, what better way to become SUPER RICH off of good hearted people donating their extra or no longer needed belongings to a so-called Bargain-Priced, low-income families' Wal-Mart in which those of whom have it not so good can purchase consumables at a "fair" price. All I can say is BS on that one..bc their prices or absolutely a contradiction of the corporation's so-called reason for being. These jerks are making 100% pure profit by selling what is supposed to be donations to the less fortunate, as in millions upon millions annually and also with little to no taxation on that free money.. What a perfect idea... (NOT#!) The corporate a-holes can rot as far as I'm concerned!
By the way, you wouldn't happen to be from Louisiana would you?? And my apologies for these rude ass people's comments. People have no ides how to treat each other in this world anymore, especially a lady..

A guy whose grandfather carried trading cards in his shop 100 years ago recently found a number of mint condition Honus cards in the attic! So as not to destroy the value he is not hiding their existence but only allows one or two to go up for public sale every few years. He wouldn't need more money than they bring at that rate, so he's honest *and* smart!

Honus Wagner is the most expensive baseball card valued @ $2.8 million.
1943 COPPER wheat penny is worth thousands, steel is worth like 9 cents. Reason being is there was a copper shortage in 1943 so they used steel, but a few copper ones were minted by accident.
Wisconsin quarter where on the corn cob on the back, if it has two leafs on the left side it is worth between $500-$600 depending on condition .

Actually baseball cards are only worth a fraction of what they used to be worth. The whole market crashed in the early 90's when everyone and their brother decided they wanted to start making cards and the market got flooded with so many brands nobody could keep up. I have cards that used to be worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars that wouldn't even get me $20 these days. Maybe some day they'll be worth something again, but I doubt it.

My wife inherited a Straw stuffed Teddy Bear, she had no idea of it's value. It was German and over 100 years old, our daughter wanted to play with it and I told her under no circumstances should she be able to play with the bear; that it should be put away until we could get a glass display to show off the bear. Well, while I was out she gave the Teddy bear to our daughter to play with and she left it on the floor; it became a chew toy for our dog which tore it to ribbons. It's unfortunate that such a wonderful part of Children's history was lost, but not forgotten. I don't know what makes my wife more sick, the thought that the bear was potentially worth thousands of dollars- up to $50,000; or the fact that she always has to hear about the story where I told her to not give a 100year old rare teddy bear to our daughter to play with because it was special and fragile and very valuable every time someone says teddy bear. It was twenty years ago, think I'll reminder her for another 20years; then I'll make peace with the lose of that poor old dirty scraggly one of a kind teddy bear. Lesson to learn here lady's, listen to your man or else you might hear I told you so; for the next 50 years. LOL

My Dad has a HUGE collection of baseball cards! He started the collection years ago and has added to it since getting what he started, back from my Grandma who held on to it for him since we had gotten evicted from our house back in 2002 when I was 16. He has several binders full plus a couple of conatiners holding several hundred more cards each cause he had separated them like that. If he knew they are worth millions I think he'd crap his pants! O_O

Just say how much it's worth and quit saying " one million less than it's rival" um how much is that???!

if you paid attention, but not attention deficit disorder ! he clearly said SUPERMAN #1 SOLD FOR 1.4 MILLION so one million less than it"s rival...(pretending to calculate) would be "around" 400 000 $$ is the answer to your question.!!

Also: HotWheels cars. Mint condition ones have sold for a lot of money and had I not always played with mine as a small human I could have mad $500 or so from a couple of the cars I own

I'm thinking I saw a video on TH-cam where the USA made ones from the 70's are of some value. Mostly ones in mint condition, rare ones and ones with parts that broke or came off like the van w/surfboards.

This is to Vaughn I really liked your comment and you're 100% correct about the Goodwill.. I personally would rather give the stuff to someone I wrap it up and put notes on it and I leave it in a bus stop then I know it's going to someone that could use it for instance I left a clock there with a note on it and needed a battery I left a Crock-Pot another time double-bagged it told him it worked it was extra.. kind of stuff like that.. and the Volunteers of America if you can find one of them those are really much cheaper than the Goodwill the Goodwill is getting a little ridiculous and some of their stuff.. good hunting everyone

This is a rather stupid list considering most of the stuff you're listing off people already know would be valuable. Comic books, coins, trading cards.

My dad has a ton of old coins that he keeps in a box. I think the oldest one was from 1890's. And we do have 'The Mummy' (1932) on VHS.
