the only flaw concept of the airless tyre,

other than the design it self encouraging some people to toy with the rubber spokes.

Best tires I've ever owned. Dry, wet, snow they stick the road. I never doubt them letting me down in any conditions. 60k miles on a set and room to spare, no problem. Tires are the single most important thing to maintain on a car after oil. And I trust Michelin to do it right.

I have known semi-professional rally drivers who used Michelin tires exclusively. The longevity of those tires was incredible. I have had Michelin tires that performed above and beyond, but ultimately succumbed to age. Michelin tires are top-notch.

I think everyone knows they're always in the top 3 for sure.
People dont understand that you get what you pay for. Thr price of rubber has sky rocketed, thus its actually cheaper to put carbon fiber in a tire than actual rubber in some instances and thats why we're seeing tires with numerous materials.

I am an Uber driver driving a 2016 Mitsubishi outlander FWD 2.4L in Chicago, I have to replace the original tires at 92,000 miles, that is when I installed the Michelin's, since then the car feels safer in snow and rain, is softer and quiter, feels luxurious.

2013 RAV4 with 31K miles and the OEM Michelin Latitude tires (treadwear=440) were at the treadwear indicators. Very disappointed. Put on Pirelli Scorpions (treadwear=800) at the beginning of December. The ride is quieter, less noise, the steering feels more responsive and have gained 2 MPG.

I bought a set of Michelin LRR all season radial tires for my Mazda 3 and Discount Tire warranty replaced them at 28,000 miles. He said my tires were the 6th set he had warrantied that day and mine had the highest miles. The other sets had between 18,000 and 22,000 miles. I am not hard on tires and my last set lasted 77,000 miles. My original brakes lasted 92,000 miles before I had to replace just the front brake pads.

Hi Scotty, really enjoy your videos with your wealth of mechanical info...on the Michelin tires, I like their durability but I like the tread pattern of others better like Firestone, Goodyear, etc. besides the cost difference! We go through tires like cops go through donuts up here in Upstate NY so we're continuously looking for good deals! Have a happy New Year!

    • @WhiteTiger333
      @WhiteTiger333 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

This is good to read. I also live in upstate NY and never get more than 3 years/36,000 miles out of a set of tires, or more than 2 winters out of a set of snows. Nor do I get more than about 25,000 miles out of a set of brakes, especially front brakes. These mountains, I suppose, because I don't drive crazy. :D (I drive a 2014 Dodge Avenger).
I often wonder if Michelin would save me money in the long run, but maybe they don't last any longer than Goodyear, Bridgestone or Nokia?

Got some nexen tires after and they're better, on the other car i had hankook ventus Evo 12 Wich were slightly better than nexen and now michelin pilot sport 4 Wich blows away all the tires i ever had, they grip so well on tight corners, i can take them with over 60mph, and it's so easy to control when you lose traction, you can control where you go, with the nexen.. they're ok but not even close to be so joyful to drive as the michelins and i trust them on high speed too, i go often with over 120mph even over 130.

Just put a set of X-Ice Snow tires on my Rav4 Hybrid, and I love them so far. I used to be a fan of Blizzaks, but they wear down waaay too fast. Apparently these X-Ice Snow tires are good for 60,000km. Blizzaks also don't use the soft winter rubber compound on their entire tread, after its 1/2 way worn down its like you're driving with regular all season tires. Michelins have the soft winter compound through the entire depth of the tread which was a huge selling point for me.

The tire that comes on the car are generally garbage unless it's a top tier luxury or sports car. My car came with garbage Goodyears which are my favorite brand and they didn't last 50k miles. I put on a top of the line Goodyear and got over 90k from that set.
Supposably back in the day people would swap the tires of a brand new car for a nice set... Sounds like we are getting back to that point again.

@@ohioplayer-bl9em Yes, Goodyear are a quality Tire. Those high end tires really do transform a car's handling and improve safety on the road. So many accidents here n the UK with some drivers not understanding the impact of not taking care of the car's tire' pressure and tread depth. Traffic Police in UK rare really serious about tire condition. the minimum legal tread depth in UK is 1.6mm. any less is deemed unsafe. If you’re found to be driving a vehicle with tires that have a tread depth which falls under the legal limit, you could receive a £2,500 fine and three penalty points on your license per tire.

I wont deny Michelin's tire quality, My family used them along with Bridgetone as they will last almost a decade in our smaller cars however their prices made it harder for me to purchase them for my 2015 Dodge Charger Scat Pack, so my brand of choice are Continental and Pirelli both give you great value for durability and grip wich I did not get with the Goodyear tires that came with the car, now those are worst as they barely lasted 9 months and back passenger tire got flat 4 times.

I've been using Michelin tires LTX M/S 25 years now, fell asleep and hit a guardrail doing around 65mph in my 1995 Tacoma 4x4" driver's front wheel, door came off. The truck Spawn around many times before landing in the emergency Lane just like I pulled over, it was spitting ice and snow that morning. Last Mitchell's I did get over 12 years with them and alot of miles, of course rotate/balance spring and fall.

Michelin is my go to tire brand and has been for 50 years. They are always round and require very little or no balancing weight. In all those years I've only had one set of Michelin tires that weren't up to their usually high standards. Like another person mentioned above, these were Michelin Defender tires from about 10 years ago. They were pretty well worn out at 35,000 miles and I had several flats during that time.

Hi Scotty. I wish that I’d seen this video 3 years ago, when I purchased a new set of tires for my 2 E=250 cargo vans. I purchased a set of Hankooks for the cargo van that I drive the most and a set of Michelin tires for the van that I drive the least. I have had 4 Hankook tires go bad, with bulges on either the inside or outside of the tire (2 on the cargo and 2 on an Odyssey that I drive outside of work). I’m planning on switching the tires between the 2 vans so I get a decent amount of wear on the Michelins before the tires are older than 8 years old. I have 5 vehicles and am planning on switching them all to Michelins in the next 2 years.

My Suzuki Bandit 1200 came with new Bridgestone Battleax tires, which seemed to work okay, but quickly developed bad cupping on the front, and worn down tread in the back. Replaced them with Michelin Pilot Road 2s. The Bridgestones were slippery in comparison to the Michelins. The bike even lifted the front wheel on wet pavement once with the Michelins. By far the best motorcycle tires I've ever had. I commuted on that bike for 5 years year round. The Michelins never failed to impress me with their grip, ride quality, and durability.

Haven't had the best luck with Michelin tires, especially the eco type tires, some came new on my 2020 Ford Fusion Hybrid and they didn't last and tread wore very uneven.... They didn't last 30,000 Miles! We have recently started using Walmart for tire service for our fleet and have had 0 Issues with Dextero Tires and 1/2 the cost with same ratings....

I plan on going with Bridgestone for my next set of tires. My 02 Mustang has Goodyear right now but now that I'm paying closer attention to tires, it appears that Bridgestone is what I'm looking for since it has a very low noise rating - the noise level from the Goodyears makes it difficult to enjoy the ride, not to mention not being able to listen to the car radio without being at a high audio level.. My 14 Xterra came with Bridgestone and I get a quiet and comfortable ride. A lot of money for these tires though.

Good one today, Scotty! 👍👌 I've been told that Michelin is the best brand of tires for my '95 car, but they don't make P255/60R15. I want wider tires next time. P255/60R15 equates almost perfectly in height to the P215/70R15 that came on my car. 60mph would be 60.2mph with them in a perfect world, and that's as close as I can get. P245/60R15 would be 59.3mph and I rather go slightly faster than slower.

Scotty I don’t like Michelin. Everyone I ever owned on my Vehicles going back to the late 60’s have developed cracks in the side wall prematurely. Our brand new 2000 Mercury Marquis years ago came with Michelin on it. Cracks developed in the sidewalls on them. I replaced them and the new Michelins have done the same. We still own the car. This time around I purchased Yokohama. Cost me half the price. I have purchased the same Yokohama for 2 other vehicles I own so I have some experience with the tire. No cracks developed like the Michelin. I won’t buy another set of Michelins again. Being in the business as long as you have I am surprised you don’t mention about this sidewall cracking that Michelin is known for. I have even seen them leak air through those cracks. Just to mention my experience I was in the Auto Parts Business for over 40 years now retired as owner and WD and I have seen and experienced a lot. Spent a lot of time out on the road in repair shops that purchased my parts and supplies.

Hey Scotty, since you ask, I owned a semi tractor for 11 years. In that time I had three steer tire blowouts at highway speed. Yes I stayed alive. Anyway in each situation it was an almost new Michelin tire that blew out. There was no cause for each of these events. I will never own a vehicle with those things again. BTW, my 2018 Chevy Colorado has Goodyear tires, with 107,000 miles. I'll change them this summer. But, for now the tread covers Abe's ears. Thank you for your good work.
