So I bought some brand new rims and tires and decided to treat them like the video said before I even put them on the car. the rims are 20's with 30 series tires and the car is dropped and we all know that's worse for tire wear so... I figured why not try because I want to get the most out of them. I can fully report that the car DOES NOT lose any handling characteristics and attributes or lose grip even in rain. The car grips and handles absolutely the same. Even better is I've gone 365 miles to date and still have the new tire beads on the cent part of the tires were the most wear should occur. Those beads go away once you drive 10 miles. I have cars in my dealership showroom with 18 miles and they are gone already. This alone shows how well this thing really works. I wish I could post a picture to show the tires after 300+ miles with literally close to 0 wear. Thank you for this video. If the main reason you haven't done this yet is you're scared of loss of traction, I own a KIA Stinger GT 3.3t with tons of rear power and I assure you there is absolutely NO NONE ZERO ZILTCH ZIP NADA loss of grip or handling I promise. 👍🏾💯 Great find!!

@@SweetProjectCars it's funny because so many people doubted you. And I said to myself why would a certified mechanic put his name and credibility on the line and tell customers and people that are going to watch his video to put something on their tires the main thing that holds their car on the road something that would make them crash or lose traction then be able to come back and sue you if this thing didn't work LOL. So I said to myself hell why not try it and lo and behold this is probably one of the best and cheapest investments for your car. Only three hundred plus miles but I'm already impressed.

    • @Kingtsunami100
      @Kingtsunami100 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

@@SweetProjectCars people should also put this into perspective. let's say it takes 30 miles for those new tire beads to wear off after driving. I've gone over 300 which is 10 times the amount! imagine getting 10 times the amount of tire life then you're supposed to? what about only 5 times? how many people out there would be happy getting 2 to 3 times the amount of tire life?

Sweet Project Cars You betcha! An idea for some videos is what you do to combat rust. I believe I heard you mention you are in Michigan (I'm across the lake from you in Central Wisconsin) and it seems like what they are pre-treating the roads with before snow is even more corrosive than salt.

    • @SweetProjectCars
      @SweetProjectCars  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Andy the best thing you can do is get a great wax on the outside now and for the underside of you car or truck go to a carwash that has underbody spray and do this once a week or get it professionally rust proofed with ziebart or similar..you gotta keep that salt washed off weekly....my wife does it religiously every week for 5 bucks and her 09 GMC Yukon looks new...

I have used 303 Protectant for 17 years. I knew it was the go to product for plastics and trim, but I had no idea about extending the life of tires. You can also make your windshield wipers last a very, very long time. Clean with alcohol, the treat with 303 protectant.

What I appreciate in your videos is that you combine common sense creative techniques with product development improvements.
I am 70 years old and grew up working with my father in a full service “service station”. He was an ex-Navy Pilot from WWII, and there was only one way to do a job - that was the right way the first time.
You may find this funny. When we started in business in 1958, a car wash, hand drying with chamois cloths and interior window, dash and vacuum was $1.50. By the time that I was 12 in 1960, it had gone up to 2.50 and a hand wash and wax was $12.50 until he sold the business in 1970. Minimum wage was $1.00 an hour and gasoline by 1970 was up to $.28 for regular and $.37.9 for Gulf NoKnox high test 100+ octane.
Anyway thanks for sharing all of your experience and product knowledge.
When you have a chance, maybe give a summary of when and how you found out about 303.
    Thanks

This stuff works, I bought some Walmart Goodyear tires and they were rated for 45000 miles and I've already surpassed 60000 and still have plenty of tread left. The guys at Walmart look at me funny when I come in and tell them to rotate and balance my tires, the last 2 times they have got that Guage thing out to measure the tread and come back in scratching their heads in amazement. I still can't believe it myself. I haven't even been really using it every three months either I've skipped a couple of times just because I'm too lazy or busy to apply it.

Thanks for video. I just bought a new set yesterday and want to make this set last longer. I got 70,000 on my last set. An off brand called general. What helped me is after around 40,000 miles I had them flipped(White wall turned to inside). My tires tend to wear on the inside alot more and doing this has helped me get more out of a set. Maybe not for everyone. Also the tire place usually charges $75-100 to do the 4 tire flip

I normally buff and wax them but I can still see the yellowing, but now after using 303, it's pretty much unnoticeable. I'll be getting a new set of tires soon and I'll surely be treating them.

Do your CV joint boot covers too.....they will last forever. The most common failure of CV joints is the rubber cover cracks and falls apart then dirt gets into the joint itself and destroys the ability of the CV to work correctly. 303 keeps those boots supple and prevents them from drying out. I also use 303 on any rubber/nylon bushings to keep them like new.

303 protect-ant is MY top shelf number one go to detail PRODUCT , it contains ZERO alcohol and has amazing uv protectants. Ive used it for over 20 years. You cant a better protectant for vinal,(hot dashboards) Plexiglas, fiberglass, AND TIRES!!! Really people this stuff is AMAZING, the commercial uses on high end boats, marine and aircraft including cars etc is impressive. I detail every-one of my expensive show bikes and cars with it from one end to another,,, a little goes a long way, when used on tires it will knock your eyes out!! Its not that hard to find but usually in a 16oz spray. Marine shops sell it, also amazon. I buy by the gallon, prime, its way cheaper and will last you like 3 years... GREAT, PROVEN STUFF

I have to admit my age. I remember when bias-ply tires were the in-thing and radials, when they came out, were made in Europe and were only found on European made cars. What a difference radial-ply tires made in longevity and handling. I can't for the life of me figure out why the 303 Protectant isn't more widely marketed. You'd think that it would be sold at most auto part chain stores and at Wal-Mart stores nation wide. Before you made me aware of this product, I didn't know that it existed. I thank you for that and all that you do. All of the best to you and yours.

But I don't spray the inside just outside. I put 300 miles a day the tires lasted 2years. So great info and video.

Very interesting, I think I will try it.
I am a 303 fan. Here is what I found out. I cleaned a collection try, that sits between the two front seats. Then I sprayed it with 303 and let it sit in the sun for an hour. Well there was not much still wet to wipe off, but the whole tray looked new, like I painted it with clear coat paint! So I tried the same technique with my headlight lenses. Well then it did not work so well.! Dribble stains were left on the lens, that I could not easily remove! Damn! I still think 303 is the boss when it comes to anything with rubber! Oh the longer it sits on your tires before you wipe the excess off the shiner they will end up. Note with gloved hand work the 303 around so that it is mor even, so that the end luster is the same for the whole tire.

Matter of fact, ive had my Cobra over 6 yrs of badass burnouts, insane street races and a TON of hot rodding miles and have yet to touch that engine aside from maintenance and mods (supercharger and such lol). 303 is the nectar of the gods. I just replaced my timing belts on my motorcycle (Goldwing) and the rubber gasket from the timing belt cover was very stiff and brittle. Since I didn't have a new one and didn't want to wait and order one online, I put the gasket into a gallon ziploc bag and sprayed the heck out of it. I let it sit overnight in the bag and the next day it was soft and pliable. Not only was I able to finish the job but saved $40 in the process. Amazing stuff.

  • @abcertweld

That being said buying good tires and rotating them helps them last as well, and most don't.

Like I said I'll try it why not.

Eight years ago I installed new tires on both of my Jeeps. I treated my Grand Cherokee with 303 but not my Cherokee Sport just as a 'quench my curiosity' thing. Well I had to put new tires on the Sport because my mechanic said to replace them before winter and especially before next summer to prevent any blowout. The tires had some bad sidewall cracking going on but only on the left side. That's the side that faces south and gets the brunt of the sun. It is true that the uv rays damage rubber, plastic, window tint. The right side tires were not so bad but the tread had worn down. 38k miles on the sport mostly highway driving from 50k mile tires. Now the Grand cherokee has 72,300k miles on Goodyears that were warranted for 6 years or 50k miles, and there is no visible cracking at all, the tread has worn but I still have 8/32 of an inch remaining from 13/32 brand new, so they have worn of course. How can this be ?? I also park directly ahead of my Sport getting the same sun exposure. But these tires I think may reach 100k miles before I need to replace them. Although I am very hesitant to keep them on that long. Keeping a very close eye on them. This product does work and have used it on my Michelin wipers (four years now) also the bumper covers and have not faded. I have a Honda Accord always garaged kept with 11 year old tires that still look new. I only apply Armorall tire dressing to the outside wall after I wash it and then back inside since new. The tires look new, and I checked the inside walls and have no cracking. I think because they are not exposed to the suns rays regularly. We all know what the sun does to our skin with prolonged exposure. This product does what a lot of people would never believe it does unless they try for themselves. I would think Armorall may do the same thing but I have tested and will continue to use the 303 product. A gallon will go a long way. Great video by the way.

I can sort of confirm this. I put a new set of Michelin XTR six-ply truck tires on an old Isuzu Trooper 15 years ago, and every now and then I would wipe them down very thoroughly with a rag wet with Armor All. When I sold that Trooper, the Michelins had 100,000+ miles on them and they looked NEW when washed and tire-blacked. The tread was exceptionally deep, and I only rotated those tires ONE time in 100,000 miles.

Great idea! Also, when you balance alloy wheels use the stick on weights on the inside (barrel) of the rim not the hammer on weights on the outer lip. This will not only look better but will keep from damaging the new clear coat. Crack that clear coat and it won't be long before you have to refinish the wheels again.

I sold the motorhome after 8 years with the original tires and 70,000 miles on them. No tire rot, no sun cracks in the side walls and the tread was still very good. 303 wasn't around then and it works better than the oil. Easier to use too.

I have to try this. I drive for a living and am sick of getting 35K miles on 70K mile tires.
I wonder if it will make winter tires last longer?

I have used it on my truck tires after cleaning with lacquer thinner and they always look new even after it rains and water dries off. I just wipe them with a little 303 on a half moon tire foam sponge and let them dry overnight. They just always look new and clean without being greasy fake looking. Helped cleaning with lacquer thinner first to get off all old coatings.

I do a quick touch up every couple weeks. In between I hose them off or just wipe with a dry tire brush to remove any dust or dirt. Also good on wiper blades and other rubber and leather parts.

I've always wondered if I sprayed my snowmobile track every year if it would last longer, I'm going to give this a try on it. I also just dropped $800 on tires for my truck so this is great timing! New tires always ride so nice.

HI Sweet, I've got a question that I did not see below. Fairly recent news reports indicate that tires over 7 years old have internal breakdown issues, like ply separation- those same reports say one should ALWAYS check out the date code on the sidewall of the tire when you buy them. I have several old cars that only get driven 2k or 3k per year, the tires look like new even after 7 years or more. Do you think this treatment might help extend the safe life of these tires? (I was particularly impressed by the fact that you spray the INSIDE when new- brilliant!)

this product is awesome for all rubber new or used...i use it on my show car and bike and the tires look fabulous thank you very much for the great comments it helps the entire channel :)

Nitrogen inside those tires would probably be your best option. It's the oxidation that dry rots the inside.

I just put on new tires on my truck, if I had seen your video I would of done the inside of it. Now that it's on I'll just try doing the outside like you did and see what happens. Could you answer a question for me? My wife has Michelin Tires on her Explorer SUV that have very few miles on them and are in great shape never had a flat just a few cracks on them but are 8 year old. My tire guy told me that I should change them because they are too old and my break down on the Highway. What is your opinion on the age of a tire that may make them dangerous? Thanks for posting.

Hi SPC. Sounds like a plan. Tires are very expensive, $38 bucks beats $300 to $600 any day. I get mine at Walmart, com. Reading the comments got me to wonder a bit. A lot of questions you had already covered were asked it would seem people ether aren't paying attention or something else is going on ?. I have been noticing this more often the past few years. Have you ?. Oh and has always I Liked,Shared and added to Playlists.
All my best to you and all at SPC

For some reason, people are more narcissistic and impatient than before, with very short attention spans. It's most often been blamed on a radical shift in youth-oriented TV programming, like MTV. The expectation now is that the essence of the topic or subject will be delivered briefly, and that's it. Any more than the incomplete core, and people's eyes now roll up into their heads and they divert their attention to whatever the next blurb might be. Thus you get viewers asking about things that are well-covered in the video, as if they must have blanked out during that section. It's not so much the Kelly Bundy Syndrome as it is being fed short strings of meaningless pap from a young age, because it draws kids' attention and is commercially lucrative. You also get people commenting here without even viewing the content, which they confuse with social media platforms like Facebook instead of an education or entertainment platform. People once tended to pour over feedback to see what they could get out of it before asking a new question, but now will ask the exact same question as the guy two comments ahead. They themselves expect a personal response from the content creator, but can't be bothered to do anything but type out what they want, and leave for the next video. The expectations associated with free content and cheap products have shifted greatly, just as online anonymity has affected the acceptance of personal responsibility and accountability. Just my take on it.

i put mine on with a sawed off paint brush. might take a minute or two longer but it's good therapy. i measure out a little less than 4 ounces and that covers 4 tires generously plus the wipers plus my squeegee. it may be in my head but i do believe this dampens down the old tire road noise(for a little while). plus my tires always look like they're brand new, never did care for the tire shine look..this is so cool
