@brivious Very bright lights, I use 4 led 1600 Lumens. Also make sure if you have any barren surfaces like a wall that it has at least some decoration. Be sure to scan your room with your wrist and not your arm and do it slowly.
been playing in a 5x7ft space for about 5-7 months now. have had no issues. same with lighting. it is dark and it still has no issues. all issues are more because of the program and user error.
I think you convinced me to hold off on these for now, mostly because the low light conditions. I'm night shift and scared of bright lights and also don't have 10'x10'. House just is t big enough for that really
honestly as a quest 3 user, for that 600$ price point it's still super tempting. since the alternative is buying base stations + three trackers, + straps which will rack up a similar price. hoping to wait a bit for these to turn up on the 2nd hand market, or for a cheaper alternative that don't have the drawbacks of imu only. then i might bite the bullet
@@Savag3174 using vr space calibrator in steam vr and it works great altho they do drift a little bit if you dont have a tracker attached to your headset for continuous tracking
Fantastic video, I remember some of my friends being so gung-ho during near years because VIve had this special limited time deal to get these trackers with some bonus straps or something
While its working, it works very well and rarely disconnect after the setup. Just needs plenty of light. I have a really small okay space like 1.5 square meters and it works fine
I have 3 of these. Setup is tedious and I have a large well lit room with plenty of decorations on the walls and furniture etc. It works okay but if you walk the playspace in 360 degrees I do have areas where it gets a little wonky. It works okay sitting down but most of the times I and lay down I turn into a pretzel. Compared to my tundras I do think playspace calibrator works a little better with my quest 3. Going to use them for a while and either keep tundras or them depending on how they turn out. In theory they're nice, and it's nice to be able to move inbetween playspaces with them without moving lighthouses or anything.
Thank you finally found a video going into more detail excited to see more indepth when you get them in ur hands. Im curious how items in ur room can impact tracking.
Off topic question, but can I ask what shader you're using on the first outfit in this video? Specifically, I'm curious about the "sparkle" effect on the gold trim. It almost looks like particles rather than shader, and I'm wondering how that works.
Have you tried lighting up your room with infrared light that's not visible to the human eye but visible to the camera and thus trackable with the ultimate trackers? it works with my quest 2 🙏
The dance was nice, I almost think we all should make some dance vids and chill out. The set up does sound like a pain, do ya need any downloads ? Or does steam vr work for them?
The brightness is very much a thing and yes, the setup took me a couple hours to figure out but only like 20 minutes once I figured it out. My room scanned well despite not having much anything on the wall.
It is that... sorta. That is how it fills the gap in brief moments of bad tracking but doesn't rely on it. Imu tracking is also done as a group of devices for mocap while these are good as an individual unit for also tracking non-humanoid things like a clipboard in AR in addition to tracking limbs
The only people having issues are those that want to do things their way and not have to make any adjustments, they want to keep using their Christmas RGB light show they have and not get bright white bulbs, or they dont want to have to put anything on those blank walls, guess what everyone that followed the recommendations got a quick map scan and have been enjoying FB everyday, and when we try to help people that are having problems we ask show your room how are you scanning, and guess what they have one yellow ass dark lamp bulb or RGB christmas lights and do not want to change things, of course they are going to have issues, I play on a 7ft by 5ft area with no problems.
the trackers are smooth just most people dont get that good of tracking because its not paired with the vive XR elite there is a reason why they paired it with the head set first instead of making it pc stand alone at first I own both and i have people who cant tell the difference when i where them with my headset
What a surprise that the only good products of HTC remain the OG Vive and OG Vive Trackers. Literally the only 2 things that were developed by Valve actually work great! Valve is crazy big brain.
It’s been 10 days and I only got them to work for 15 minutes. When I got them to work tracking was good but the software is very buggy and it can’t detect my trackers anymore. Constantly says “syncing” or lost tracking. When I try to make a brand new map it crashes and I have to force shut down my pc. Very frustrating but I’m hopeful.
I kinda wanna test these with slimes. Slimes upper body, vive ultimate on legs. But 700usd for a "test" when I am very happy with my 12 slime setup (yes I must press yaw reset a lot dance dance dance!)
Slimes and Haritorax are drifting trash-tech that doesn't even know where the floor is. Haritorax is fixing the drift in next version but still, that tracking doesn't have a clue where the floor is.
Very informative! Btw opening your blinds is not recommended the Ultimate Trackers hate daylight due to lighting changes, resulting the user to redo setup often. Need a curtain closed on every use & rely on a 800+ lumens light bulb. I got a light bulb double that strength, works good natively on XR Elite yet the steamvr beta set up fails saying my room is too dark 😂
Same...works great with the Vibe XRE even in suboptimal lighting, but I cranked all my lights up and couldn't get the PCVR to see well enough. Admittedly I tried it fairly early so maybe it's a bug that has been fixed s9n6ce then.
@@microbry the beta got updated a week ago its slightly better but I still have to wait a good while till it realises that they are trackers that are supposed to track lol. My Vive XR got busted within 5 weeks due to flimsy build material so I have to only use the beta
HTC Vive cares about the Japanese market. In addition to the English and Chinese versions, Japanese is also included in this beta. The small bug was not found and debugged in the alpha version. Therefore, HTC Vive deals with it temporarily in this way. It should not appear again in the next version. Just imo...
In eu they are more expensive then just getting 3.0s and two base stations. I rarely get occlusions with 2 base stations and I have an 1x2 meters playspace.
Yeah well.. if you plan to play wireless you need 4 trackers + base stations. That's 770€ in EU. Just bought 3 ultimate trackers for 660€. Almost pulled the trigger with base stations and 3.0's earlier this week but damn glad i didn't. Perfect choice for Quest 3.
i own them and in my case they work perfectly fine "even tho the scanning is aids" but i'm from EU and did not have to change region to United States to use them idk why people have problem with it
Interesting, I guess America and parts of EU work. I wonder if Russia works. Anyway you have to wonder why there's a region requirement for the trackers lol
I own the Vive 3.0 tracking system with 2 base stations and 3 trackers. Honestly, I'm not happy with the setup being fixed; I would rather prefer a portable system. I could get enough money to buy ultimate trackers if I sell the whole system (maybe I'll get an extra $200 because these things are so expensive in India). So should I upgrade to this thing? Does HTC plan to give updates and improve its tracking quality?
The two big selling points for these are apparently things that don't work. You can't freely move around your house without scanning a new room and setting the whole thing up, and if you obstruct the cameras a bit they fail just like the 3.0 trackers do. So having them on your waist where it's harder for basestations to see when you bend over simply won't be solved by these. Unless their ****AI**** can learn how to just work in any area the way every Meta product does, what's even the point. These things should have been advanced IMU based trackers with cameras for spatial positioning to prevent drift. Given that every HTC product that has relied on HTC software since the OG Vive has been absolute trash, im not holding out much hope for these going forward. At least not for that ridiculous price.
The complaints don't seem substantial imo, like about set up... which is not often at all. Lighting is normal inside-out tracking stuff... you can use IR bulbs. I'm sure the space will become more forgiving, but this price point also suggests you'll find space to run it. Also, looking for support isn't gonna work out if you're not trying to meet min specs/requirements during a BETA lol. Overall, performance looks similar(or better) to base station tracking without buying base stations, which is a win
Being $600 kills any incentive to buy these over base stations for 99% of people. Everyone wants trackers that are cheaper than base stations but are just as accurate, reliable and easy to use. VUT's fail at this on all counts. I'll stick to my Tundras and 3.0's thanks.
@@neojenshi4055 No? A pair of base stations and 3 tundras is like ~$700. And scaling up to more trackers in the future is waaaaaaay cheaper with base stations too.

Adding more secure strapping would help the jumping, it’s just the trackers jiggling from the movement so they are technically still tracking well
I think you convinced me to hold off on these for now, mostly because the low light conditions. I'm night shift and scared of bright lights and also don't have 10'x10'. House just is t big enough for that really
