    Here's my thoughts about it:
    While I'm definitely not gay/trans, it was a very interesting video about it. I know there are always people who are scared/angry if they think they might turn gay and such for it. Honestly, those people should learn that we are all different from each other. It doesn't matter what gender, race, and even religion you are. As long as you dont hurt anybody (physically or emotionally), you can do whatever you want.

    • @cid_vrc
      @cid_vrc  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Exactly! I always hear lots of memes or comments about vrchat turning people gay, or being full of femboys or whatever, so I tried to make a video about why that image exists.

    So, I'm a transwoman that's been watching you for a long time, and I realized I was before VrChat. The game just gave me an outlet to express myself, since I couldn't do it in my household with family around. Straszfilms actually has a really good video exploring the phenomenon of trans people using vrchat for their gender expression. It's a really common story that you'll hear from vrchat players that are also trans. I am curious about your section on AGP, some very bigoted people use the term in a derogatory way and use that as an explanation for why a transwoman is trans, and I wanted to make sure that wasn't your implication

    4:36 interesting anecdote there. That is true, considering that female bases (both on booth and gumroad) outnumber male bases, so they have more clothes/accessories made for them. In turn, new male players will gravitate towards the way-better option that is female avatars. And it all becomes a cycle that results in the supply and demand for male avatars to be lower than female avatars, it's literally a FUNNEL into female avatars for new players. There are good male avatars out there (on booth, we don't talk about gumroad) but they're so few and far between that the average person doesn't bother to find it, let alone customize it.

    • @cid_vrc
      @cid_vrc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it's a vicious cycle for male avatar users. Personally I really like Minase but all my guy friends would probably block if I used him. I was able to successfully use him around women who were also using male avatars lol

    • @brickwallerson7116
      @brickwallerson7116 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @cid_vrc they'd block you?! That's a reaction I wouldn't have expected, least of all to an avatar as non-hypermasculine as Minase. Most friends of mine don't mind male avatars being worn (at least booth ones) but they're all western. Don't think I saw a single JP user (that wasn't furry or kemono) using a male avatar, I guess that female avatar status quo is firmer in the east, idk

    OK, I have to to comment on your video title. Unfortunately some people ( I won't describe them here ) will take this as, if something can make people gay, then some kind of "therapy" can make them ungay. I know why you chose this, but maybe point out that we are born with our sexuality, which can't change , but is a range that the slider can move back and forth on. Not that the range can be "changed". Not the best wording, but you get the drift.

      @trisfaleel and why exactly is AGP even seen as bad? And I don't mean necessarily blanchard's dumb take -- I more so mean the idea itself of deriving pleasure from being a woman/imagining oneself, I would say I have it, but I don't think it's something to be shamed and if you ask me; being in the correct body helps a lot with loving oneself. The falsehood that there is a "good" type of trans person vs a "bad" kind is a lame idea... especially against the confine of hsts vs agp.

    Interesting video though really the whole idea that it turns you gay is false. Not denying reasonings but rather that those things were naturally already embedded in the person probably before anyone (especially themselves) even realise it.
    Their ability to be attracted to simply the image of feminist itself and the ways it opens up a wider variety of person to their dating pool and attraction, the desire or need to exist within an effeminate body in whatever form that takes to truly feel comfortable or rather more comfortable than they’ve ever been before and the blatant ease of character when entering a world that is very loudly supportive of individuals differences and massive on acceptance (causing the person to adjust themselves to be more accepting/tolerant to the point of mimicking).
    I think VRchat is an environment that strips the limitations of how one presents themselves to themselves and others along with the added furled societal expectation of who they should be (given their anonymousness) which allows for freedom of expression. Free to do things and try things they would never do given their mental block of thinking it’s not physically possible or the mental block that it’s not acceptable. To have feelings for someone that doesn’t align with the assigned gender or sexuality they were given naturally by society and their parents or to simply exist authentically without fear of error or backlash.
    I think it shows that actually VR doesn’t turn you gay/trans or make you more accepting but rather that we as humans are actually more queer and tolerant of others innate differences than we realise or that society allows to feel like we can be.

    This seems more like a continuation to "why are so many guys in vrchat using female avatars"... The anecdotes are interesting and stuff but I feel like they kinda answer a different question 😁👍
    (just ranting from there):
    A big point might be that people don't really have to risk being persecuted or worse being imprisoned or k*lled in a virtual environment, thus they can express themselves more freely/openly, thus more people of different minorities tend to flock to such spaces. 👍
    would've been nice if you had added some interviews and sources to back up the claims.
    To come back to the title: I don't think people suddenly turn gay/trans because of vrchat, they are just more prevalent because of the aforementioned reasons. 😉
    The sad reality is that gay, trans people and other minorities still have to hide in a lot of countries.
    Also to clarify, AGP/AAP is only really stating that you're sexually aroused by the feeling of being in the body of the opposite sex. Not necessarily if you do it for other purposes. Also, the study around it it pretty controversial due to a lack of controll groups and no found causations, only correlations. So, not everyone might accept that as a label.
    Last one's not a critique, just additional info 😁

I don’t even know if he’s just dealing with stuff, if he’s prison gay or just gay or straight, we don’t care. That’s not the issue, he just won’t do anything other than VR chat now, and these like “erotic RP” things. He won’t get a job let alone leave his house and he ended every single one of his irl relationships. The odd part is that this kid was popular we had huge groups of friends, he was always invited everywhere, everyone loved him, and he got girls pretty well. So that really confused all of us when all of that just stopped and he moved back home. Me and a few others tried really hard to keep him around and be there because he had been spiraling for some time. As of right now, it’s been about 3 years since he completely shifted his personality, started to stay inside at all times, switched his sleep schedule to night time, cut contact with everyone (except the rare text response to me or one of our other 2 life long friends, however it’s been almost 6 months since we heard from him now)
    He was our best friend and we wouldn’t give a damn if he was straight, gay, bi, trans, ANYTHING! We just wanted our friend back, but he’s spiraled beyond control. His mom had to kick him out because he would t get a job or go to school. His father is just enabling him to continue his reclusive behavior at his house now. I used to feel incredibly bad, but then realized one day after he stopped responding to us that there’s nothing to feel bad about. Everyone in his life was there for him, to help if he needed, or just to talk, yet he traded it away for his vr headset. He never had the courage to tell his life long best friends about what he’s going though even though we were always there and worrying for him and he knew this. We didn’t know if we’d get a call one day saying they found him “unalived” We are very open to one another, always have been, so it really hurt that he wouldn’t let us help, I suppose he just didn’t want it. It was a pitiful downfall to one of the best guys I’ve ever known. I just worry for other people that they may throw away a grand life full of LIFE and LOVE and ADVENTURE, for the dopamine boost of vr chat. IK this was long but seriously this kid needs to be a case study

      VRChat is very immersive, it's like living another life. For me, I've made lifelong friends and connections that translated to real life, but it's sad that some people just throw away their real lives for a virtual one. Well that's just one thing that makes VRChat so mysterious and alluring

      AGP does not exist. it's a medical fraud created to do conversion therapy. anyone who tries to tell you AGP is real is a bigot trying to harm trans people.

    I PERSONALLY think that if a person wears an avatar of a different gender, they will start having a mindset of that set avatar. For example i have met tons of men that wore female avatars and in a couple of weeks/months maybe even a year they turn trans or gay. So i personally think it's meant to brainwash a lot of people and i personally don't want to use a female avi. I have my pride as a man even if i get hated on XD

    • @cid_vrc
      @cid_vrc  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      LMFAO yes female avatars do tend to change people, don't they? Personally I treat an avatar just like a profile pic on discord. It's not LITERALLY me, it's just like a mascot or a character that I like. I am definitely NOT my avatar or anything close to it.

    • @jesseclark4195
      @jesseclark4195 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Which is perfectly fine for a normal person! "Quick info, i never said you were changing or anything XD" But that's what i said, i personally disagree with what you have said and i think guys should wear male avatars and women should wear female avatars because that makes life SO MUCH EASIER. p.s love you

      It does brainwash people and there’s people on vrc that encourage the brainwashing.

    Calling this video an "educated and thorough breakdown" with a misleading title and lack of a line of reasoning is pretty disingenuous. I see no reason why any of these things contribute to what the title implies considering you're just saying all this stuff without a basis or source listed. To call this remotely educated would be, at best, deceptive.
    This appears to be a bunch of your own personal observations and opinions that you have gathered together. If we're talking anecdotally (about one of your points), I know numerous people who succeed in VRC through their confidence and personality rather than "acting gay." I'd say acting more feminine has a greater basis in how people tend to "roleplay" how other people percieve them in games. Studies have shown that men showcase more feminine traits when they're provided a female avatar in VR, even if they are straight. They tend to act more collaborative and caring on average. This is partially true even for flatscreen games. This is a proven concept in psychology that fits well to describe the behavior of VRC players and doesn't incorporate uncollected data.
    _See DOI 10.1080/1369118X.2013.874493 for the flatscreen game study._
    *SIDE NOTE:* VRC doesn't actually cause people to "turn trans." Becoming trans is as much a myth as "becoming gay" by being around gay people. VRC gives people an outlet to realize that they are trans. People in VRC aren't becoming trans, it's that the trans individuals tend to stay in VRC longer because it happens to be the perfect escape from gender dysphoria.

    My take is that it's heavily linked to autism. Autistic people are really into online communities, especially those centered around their interests like anime, video games, etc. Is the same reason a large portion of the fighting game community is gay. Super Smash Brothers Melee has like 20+ people in the top 100 that are either nonbinary or trans. They're almost certainly all autistic.
    Personally, I'm not a fan. I don't like the sexually perverse nature of anime. Call me a prude, but I think mixing hyper-sexual with youthful features creates a haven for perverts, or worse, pedophiles.

    I i dont agree with everything in this video especialy the kink stuff .i think just going out and doing what ever kink/fetish is not heathy for some people and some people have really messed up ones.some people may have urges but theres really not that strong so i dont think most people will go crazy just because they cant full fill their kink.If that were the case this would have been a far greater problem worldwide. Wha- ? Why would you tell your parents that? Its so random...when would a conversation like that ever come up?

    • @cid_vrc
      @cid_vrc  ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of people do it, look it up. It shows that you're comfortable in your own skin if you can come out to your parents.

      @@cid_vrc how much is alot? I really doubt that most people who have kinks tell their parents. Alot of people dont really see it as that big of a deal. I really dont understand this coming out stuff. I was a furry and i thought sitting down and have a big conversation like you'er lgbt or have a terminal disease was a bit too much. Furries and kink can be weird but just like any hobbie like cars or boats its really not so exstream that your parents would want to disown you. Also who really tells there parents about their sex life? That like the number one conversation one wants to have with their parents.
