This is the Best Glow Plug Replacement Video on TH-cam. Thank you
Thanks for watching. Glad it helped.
Have a 2006 F250 tomorrow with an AC Compressor and Glow Plugs. Thank you for a good video and explanation of the proper procedures.
Great video it saves me a bunch. I paid $450.00 for number 1 glow plug to be replaced at a mechanic shop. Thats only one glow plug. I will do my own after this, thanks for your video.
John Richardson your welcome bud, I’m all about helping folks save some money doing something themselves
Good video. That was really straight to the point. i like videos like these. Keep doing more vides on the 6.0.
Good show.
Gotta get to #8 myself this makes it a ton easier
Great way to do the glow plugs. And ya, love the Bronco! We had an 83. Should have never sold it.
Great explanation and visual example!
I agree! This is the best way to get them out or to do a compression test.
The Lisle tool for the glow plug harness and a prybar worked much better than the wire method for us though.
Great video!
Thanks
Thank you you just saved me big time money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your more than welcome....I don’t mind saving people money and giving the satisfaction of doing it yourself.
Thank you for your video's. They have helped me with my 05 F350 6.0. My truck keeps throwing the P0683 code. I have replaced the plugs and the module and harnesses. All the ohm readings are good. Where do I go from here?
Superb tutorial. Thank you.
were that some racin fender well covers?
Great Video 🤙🏾
Great video! I have a f 350 04 6.0 not dully harley davidson edition. Have it two codes p1000 and U0306 oil presure is good i think, i pull out oil cap and am staring and i can see feel out the oil cup but the gauge not indicate same that. I will apreciarte whatever tips.
Thanks for the video.
Such a Manly video tks for sharing deer catch 😂😂😂thank you for the all the video 😂😂😂❤
Very helpful to me , thanks for sharing.
Glad it helped, make sure to check out our other 6.0 videos. Thanks for watching.
Great video
Thanks amigo
Bad ass I see you became a badass that you can work with one hand lol😂
Great job your like 👍 and a new subscriber
Great video…I am going to attempt this on my 2004 f350 6.0… should I change both sides to be safe? Thank u
I always recommend to....if you use genuine motorcraft parts you won’t have to worry for a long time.
Thanks!
Nice, xdp sells some nice bosch glow plugs, they work really well, heat up faster then the motor craft ones, i’ve had really good luck with mine, i’d recommend them if you live in a climate where it’s cold 4-6 months out of the year.
Yes they do perform well but when it comes to longevity and reliability motorcraft is all I recommend and install
@@AutomedicGarage true, i’ve only ever used there oil and fuel filters for my truck, superior to any others.
Motorcraft only, you melt a tip and it drops into the cylinder you will be so sorry
@@Bacongrease00 yep, what happens alot of times on 7.3s is they’ve been in there so long with so many heat cycles abs the tip has swollen and will break off. Then you get to remove a head when you go to replace them.
Definitely a great video! I have a 2007 6.0 powerstroke. Truck starts pretty good but engine definitely has a stumble for the first few minutes. After about 5 minutes engine runs great. I'm kind of leaning towards a weak glow plug. Never a miss after fully warm. Your opinion? Thanks
Change to 10-30 motorcraft oil. It will fix that and add arch oil
I have an 06' and of course #2 circuit threw a code. Just in the wrong time for smog/registration.
once you spray the wd40 don't just pull up on the connector ! work at it up and down until the wd40 gets through the seal !! I do that with almost all types of jobs like these. works well . 🤘🤘
When replacing the glow plugs we need to clear any codes or I'll do it itself?
If it threw a code previously the light will clear but will remain stored in the pcm as a soft code.
I have a question for you. I noticed that your connection to the harness was close. Mine is under the turbo. The original harness is short and the original is very long. Do I need a different harness? I have an 04 6.0.
Something doesn’t sound right about your harness....is it motorcraft?
@@AutomedicGarage yes sir
I have an 05 f250 6.0 on the passenger side it does connect up under the the turbo and the wire is longer on that side also! Great video I made the mistake of only changing #3 a week later #5 went out so I changed them all and the wiring harness
Changed both sides glow plugs & wire harnesses on 6.0 with Ford brand parts my truck still won't start. Is there something I'm missing here? Only have 107k miles on the truck.
You have a glow plug controller on the passenger side valve cover also. What is your truck doing?
Nice buck
Thanks bud. Getting ready for deer season already.
Definitely make sure you know you engine build date before ordering. I just ordered the kit and came in, come to find out mine was an early 6.0 build🤦
That’s why I stress comparing glow plugs before you install the new.
@AutomedicGarage exactly. Good thing they was cheap ones. When I went to order the correct ones I got Motorcraft. That was when I first got mine and didn't really know anything about them or what to look for. Now I do.
Do you have to use a torque wrench?
I torque pretty much anything that has a torque spec. You could get away without it if you don’t have one.
Just replaced mine. This video helped me a lot . I accidentally torqued mine down to only 160 inch pounds and not 168. Do you think it will be okay?
Should be fine, a lot of folks don’t even torque them but I do. The think to remember is those small threads are holding up to all that high compression.
@@AutomedicGarage appreciate it !!! Thanks for a great video. !!!
I'd love to see the same video for an '05 6.0
Next 6.0 that’s of the later years I’ll make a video for you. It’s summer now so no one will worry about glow plugs till the fall hits.
Will this be the same method for a 2003
Yes except 03 has the bus bar style glow plug wiring
Nice video. My glow plug It's full of oil when I'm replacing this is good or not. What's a can cause,or it's normal?? Tanks.
They are exposed to oil in the rocker box. That’s normal.
@@AutomedicGarage Tanks man. U doing greats video. And Tanks a lot what you helping people!
@@user-cb9gj8uc4m sure thing bud
Are these engines known for glow plugs seizing and breaking off inside the holes?
They can seize if they’ve been over die for changing or if they have been replaced with something other than oem glow plugs. Cheap ones or ones that have been overdue can swell in the glow plug well.
How long should a job like that take
I would say if you haven’t done it before around 4 hrs maybe.
What would be different on an 07?
My Kung Fu1 it’s nothing to drastic early model 6.0 glow plugs are longer and the harness is slightly different vs late icp at the front of the passenger side valve cover is the tell all between early and late.
@@AutomedicGarage Thanks man.
Try a drill on your meat grinder next time, it wont break the nut like an impact will. 🤙🤙
Is the passenger side more difficult or same process? 2003 6L
Some think so but both sides are the same to me
For a 2006 6.0?
Very similar procedure for 2006. I’m assuming that’s what your asking.
Now pop can go back to doing what he does best..Thanks for helping your DAD, you only have one ?See Ya
D Grass not pop, that’s Gary my best friend, my dad is in some other videos, he’s the dark haired Cherokee Indian.
Yall want to trade a guided deer or turkey hunt for some work on my F350 6.0 haha! I’m in northern KY southern Ohio.
Call me
Soooo......what about the passenger side....you know the hard one?
Passenger side is easier than driver side. Less to deal with. That’s why I showed driver side.
You close to Memphis
DR LIFESTYLE bout 40 minutes outside of it
@@AutomedicGarage how much would you charge to install my new glow plugs
DR LIFESTYLE need to replace the harness to because they will more than likely break taking them off. If you provide parts $240
Do you do valve cover gaskets
DR LIFESTYLE I thought you had a 6.0? If so you don’t need valve cover gaskets. If it’s a 7.3 it would be best to replace the gasket/harness.
A little late, but drill not impact in the grinder!!
Not following
u never posted drivers side by the evap box 😂
Same process as drivers actually easier to me. Thanks for watching
Wanna sell that older model red Ford in your garage? Lol 🤣
No she’s getting a rebuild at the moment. Waiting on machine shop to call when heads are done.
Use penetrating oil. Forget wd.
I use slither and knocker loose
Well, i hope my mechanic shop doesnt charge 450 for 1 plug. If it comes to it, i can do it. But man
If you only need one just do it. It’s a easy job just follow the video. And count on replacing your harness
Change my glow plugs now they’re all throwing codes. Harnesses isn’t clicking in.
Did you reuse your harness? I never reuse a harness to prone to problems. Also is your controller good.
I don't think showing us that your grinding your own venison increases your credentials on how to work on a motor. Probably could've left that out
Ok, pretty sure you can skip if you don’t like. Read the comments, some thought it was. Your entitled to your opinion.
I don't think showing us how big your vag is increases your credentials as an anonymous TH-cam commentator. Probably could've just just not commented and cried by yourself.
Thanks bud, I don’t get some folks whinny comments. I like it when y’all say what I can’t on here.
Nobody cares about your side notes. Stay on point.
I’ve actually received a ton of comments thanking me for my “side notes” and such. There’s other channels to watch that might suit your needs and preferences better. Maybe try one of them. Thanks for the comment.
