    If I lived in a city I'd probably not want a Boxster, but living in a semi rural part of the UK the Boxster hits all the targets. But I'm not a control freak, I'm a free spirit...I rebel against authority 🤣

    Ahahaha “embrace the necessity of not giving a fuck.” That was unexpected but it delighted me so. I laughed instantly.
    You see, I am such a spirit, helped by the fact that I’m now 👩🏻‍🦲 bald. I can afford to not worry about flying or dirty hair and therefore drive the Boxter S.
    I absolutely also love the lines of the cayman

    One great benefit of the Boxster over the Cayman is that it's less claustrophobic. On the Cayman the roof begins swooping down right above the driver's head, while on the Boxster it has more of a square shape at the top and the decline happens further away from the driver. This is one of the biggest reasons I prefer Boxster over Cayman, other than the open top option. Both are great of course, but the claustrophobia I experience in a Cayman is just too much.

  • @collinhayes9509

    This is a genuine review, that also showed me how I'm more of a "control freak" than I realized. I have an ND2 Miata RF and I'm the type of person that will check the weather before I put my top down, make sure to bring ear plugs if there's highway driving, etc. Maybe 100 miles out of the 5,000 I've put on it so far has been with the top down.
    The number one reason I like the Cayman over the Boxster is how spacious the cabin looks/feels, it's the shared cabin/engine that makes it feel less cramped compared to Boxster. Number 2 reason is, I live in a large city with a lot of assholes that like to stab and tear soft tops. As well as many thief's - a soft top would likely attack them more too. Number 3 is the style from the outside of the car, it looks spectacular as a coupe.
    The comment about the noise being louder in the coupe was a great touch, because I didn't expect that. I figured the Boxster would be louder - this is a huge plus for the Boxster

Where I live we usually only get a month in the spring and a month in the fall that you could really enjoy the convertible otherwise it's to hot or to cold. Just starting to watch these videos looking forward to see how it performs as a daily driver.

    Great video. I sought to buy a Cayman first, but ended up getting a 718 Boxster (GTS 4.0). The Cayman looks better (IMO) and the blind spot in the Boxster kills me. I'm also pretty OCD too lol. But in the end, I live in Southern CA where we can drive top down year around and was willing to sacrifice the looks and a few other items I like better in the Cayman to have the ability to drop the top. But yes, as an OCD type of person a lot of points you brought up (my dash is constantly covered in dust for example) I completely agree with. Beautiful color btw!! Don't see enough Aventurine Green out there.

    Spot on assessment on coupe vs convertible. I've owned a 1969 Corvette roadster for the last 25 years and while it's great to drive with the top down, the black interior gets very dirty along with sun fade of the black carpeting. I just bought a base 2015 CPO Cayman last Oct. and couldn't enjoy it more. I also like the silhouette of the Cayman vs the Boxster.

  • @Turboman_64

    Well for me the answer is simple. I dont like the sun, especially when its hitting my head over long periods of time, also i dont like air around my head and the noise that comes with it. So as i would never actually open the Boxter, i dont plan to spend 2k € on a mechanism, wich adds complexity and a point of failure.

    18” wheels. A grown up choice, in my opion. Today it is considered small, by many. I am born in `71, so I remember, when the 959 came out, it had 17” wheels. It was huge, later on the Ferrari F40 got it too. 18” was nowhere to be found.

    • @michaelschneider-
      @michaelschneider- 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @CEAAJI ... +1.. Good point, the 959 debuted in the mid-1980s when 18-inch tires were "nowhere to be found." .. As an aside, a N. California firm Canapa Motorsports was instrumental in the 959s USA legal importation and lengthy federalization process. .. The Canapa techs had the 959s OE 17-inch wheel copied into an exact 18-inch wheel complete with Germany's TUV inspection validation. . Seems 17-inch tire choices were "nowhere to be found" as 18-inch high-performance tires were now in abundance.... Read; Michelin....

    I’m interested in the comment about dust inside of the Boxter. Do they leak dust in when closed? It’s not a problem I’ve experienced previously with an SLK with the folding hardtop but I would have hoped the soft top on the Boxter with its multi-layers would be well sealed.
    I should add that I am not questioning your choice, just curious given I’m looking at a Boxter right now and dust ingress with the roof up has never crossed my mind.

    • @ForeverManual
      @ForeverManual  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The reference to dust inside the Boxster was about when you use it as a Boxster and open up the roof. It's pretty dusty around here, unfortunately, which spoils open roof motoring somewhat. So if you're going to keep the roof closed it makes more sense to get a Cayman.

    • @ForeverManual
      @ForeverManual  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Straight answer is no, I didn’t try to put one on. But going through comments under this article regarding using 17-inch space saved spare wheel, I see that people claim having some space left between rim and caliper - www.718forum.com/threads/718-spare-tire-a-solution.13641/
      There is a spare wheel set available for 718 for storing it over the engine cover. But remember: there is no space in the car to carry the punctured wheel unless you put it on the passenger seat😆

    • @ForeverManual
      @ForeverManual  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question! I have to say that MX-5/RX-8 gearbox is one of the sweetest ever. It’s very delicate and the engaging of the gears requires almost no effort. Throws are short, selection is unmistakable. The 718’s shifter in comparison with Mazda’s is more brutal with longer throws and louder metal noise. It demands force to be applied. Not that accurate though.
