* PRO TIP * for anyone wanting to change there scales on the paramilitary 2. I bought a really nice machined piece from a company called SDK who sales a tool to remove the lanyard tube and it helped immensely when I changed to some brass scales from flytanium. SDK Lanyard Tube 😎
my trick for using pliers is putting heat shrink on both tips and heating them up it makes them soft enough to not scratch but grippy enough to hold the back spacer/thumb studs in place
Flytanium has really stepped up their game. I put Brass Scales on my Damascus Kershaw skyline a couple of years ago. Since then, I upgraded my Blacked out Mini Bugout with A brass Backspacer, brass knob, and gold titanium screws. Gotta love making something your own.
It's such a great company. They definitely should start making custom clips. With the level of craftsmanship and wide range of scales they have I can't imagine setting up the tooling for it would be a huge undertaking. It seems like it'd be profitable af. Thanks for another awesome video!
Literally stopped support on the 940 and outsourced all the work. I’d rather buy from a custom maker like deathgrip scales. Flytanium also has some pretty awful customer service. Product looks great though.
I customized my DLC coated Manix 2 with brass scales and a titanium cage lock, and it’s created the perfect knife for me. I love the look, the weight, the action, and the lock. I couldn’t possibly be happier with it, the only reason I might buy a knee knife anytime soon will be to have a smaller option, probably a bugout or terminus xr with brass scales added.
When i assemble my bugouts; i build up from the pivot; Pivot, scale, liner, washer, blade, washer, liner, scale, screws. Works for me. I just hate fighting the washers.
@@BestDamnEDC don’t blame you; i cleaned my dad’s mini 940 and the g10 on them doesn’t go the same length as the liners for the axis bar so putting the scales on the way i said isn’t fun nor easy.
Omg I love all your videos but these that shows how to teaches how to to these that I need to do I get so happy. You are the best channel ever to me. Please keep these great work.
I use Teflon plumbers tape around the lanyard tube to stop rattle. I put it on sparingly and trim with a razor. If it's unseen and spots the rattle completely.
I did this recently with my 535bk-2 and a pair of black cross fade canvas micarta scales. Flytanium brass thumb studs and brass backspacer. Also had a complete set of gold flytanium ti hardware. But the gold anodizing didn’t quite vibe well with the brass. Nevertheless the overall look, minus the gold screws, looks really great!
Love my micarta FT scales on my bug out. Was my favorite until the omega spring broke. Trying to decide if I should buy some from Etsy or send it in to benchmade. I’ve already had to send in my mini bugout for a broken omega spring several months ago
Seeing your hands in the video can't help ask, do you spar with bobcat in your spare time over the hills there in NC. Lol neighbor in TN but, something tore you up
Ive been wondering whats better copper or brass im a coin guy too and copper has always been great but dont really know if brass is better if brass is stronger then copper it might be a better scale material then the copper
Great video 👍🏼; I received my very first pm 2 yesterday, I don't have any experience since it's my first Spyderco, I also want to customize it starting with a back spacer to reduce some dirt or dust from getting in, but my question is should I wait untill my warranty expires? I mean taking it apart will void my 6 month warranty and I don't want to mess anything up lol, any ideas?
I was having some wobble issues with my titanium Flytanium scales on my PM2. I couldn't figure out what the deal was. You explaining there is a flat side to the pivot solved my issue. I took the scales apart, reinstalled the pivot correctly, and now there's no more wobble. One thing I noticed though...the blade isn't perfectly centered as it was previously with the stock scales. Not badly off center, but not as centered as I would expect it to be. Any thoughts?
Taylor, great video and awesome looking knives after the mods….but that was the sloppiest Bugout scales swap I’ve ever seen. People, don’t do it the way Taylor did it. Use a bit to keep the blade and washers in place while you swap the scales. The whole process can be done in 5 minutes.
I have the Flytanium cross fade scales in micarta on my bugout as they have more grip that than the smooth g10 ones. Swapping out scales takes literally minutes to do. Where are those drivers from btw?
The pivot screw on the PM2 is a T10, not a T09. Looks like the T09 worked, but you want to be careful not to strip it using a T09 torx screw. Spyderco isn't the only knife using more than one size, many knives do the same. For example, your Bugout uses a T10 pivot screw and T06 body screws.
The chrome screws on that PM2 hurt my soul :( Maybe you can get hold of some of the stock black ones. Otherwise it might be the most gorgeous PM2 I have seen I think
I have good news for you. If you buy your scales directly from Flytanium, they will drill out the holes on the other scale for leftys if you request it in the comment box of your order. I recently did this for the black micarta scales for my mini Osborne and it worked out great.
I don’t think the omega springs are the hard part it’s getting the blade back in without messing with them. I have tricks. I hold the axis bar back with a qtip makes life so much easier
The only problem with flytinum is no international shipping. Beautiful work yes, but no shipping outside the U.S ....so......I give my money to those who make much better and Beautiful scales .
dude you don't know the screwdriver trick to pop up the lanyard tube on the pm2? take a slim screwdriver, split the scale and liner and stick the rod in between, push towards the lanyard tube, done.
Such great videos, but buyer beware on the flytanium scales. One slight out of spec screw hole or anywhere else and it's gonna pull our blade out of line and you'll play hell getting it straight, if you ever do at all.
My man, I love your content! However, you keep saying 535-5. I do believe it's a -3. If it's a s90v carbon bugout. It's a dash 3 not 5. I may be wrong about your model. But to my knowledge, there isn't a dash 5
Hey Taylor. I am looking to sell my BladeHQ exclusive Spyderco PM2 M4 tanto with DLC coating. I was wondering if you were at all interested? I am offering to you first because you are a huge reason for sparking my interest in edc. To this day, I still remember the first time I came across this channel when it was brand new and you were still trying to restart from MOD.
Any lefty love on the Flytanium scales? Every one I see always seems to be for righties so I just have to keep all of them OEM… oh and the WARNING Spyderco added to the 10 Commandments…”Though shalt not customize!” 🤯. Jk. The lefty situation is real though ;)
I have good news for you. If you buy your scales directly from Flytanium, they will drill out the holes on the other scale for leftys if you request it in the comment box of your order. I recently did this for the black micarta scales for my mini Osborne and it worked out great.

I am carrying a 940 Benchmade with Flytanium Brass and man it has been the one that has stayed in constant rotation. Such a good feel.

Brass or copper hardware would look good on that bugout with green scales.
Fly has a pivot tool for benchmade products, use it as a temp pivot to hold it in place while replacing anything u want
I love the contoured scales from flytanium. Completely changed the feel of my pm2 and bugout

Good topic. Customizing my knives is my favorite part of the hobby

What torx tool are you using,
These knives turned out great! Thanks Taylor!!
When u changed the Spyderco scales it became a sweet knife!
Thank you for the tip on the Bugout swap
Finally I've been waiting for this all this time, thanks master
I forgot which video, I saw, but FOR the LANYARD TUBE, using a chopstick and sliding it inside the tube and twisting does the trick in a second! EZ PZ
I got the flytanium copper scales for my pm2 and shipwrecked them. I need to get a deep carry pocket clip for it now, in copper
Didn’t care for my Bugout until I put those titanium crossfade scales on it. One of my favorite knives now.
Love my micarta FT scales on my bug out. Was my favorite until the omega spring broke. Trying to decide if I should buy some from Etsy or send it in to benchmade. I’ve already had to send in my mini bugout for a broken omega spring several months ago
I just ordered the GCM and copper hardware for my Bugout mini
God I love my copper flytanium scale Bugout. Opted for the purple titanium screws, copper back spacer, and copper thumb stud
Just bought a set for my bugout. Thanks for the video.
Good afternoon, great video. I have Spyderco cpm s110, is there a after marker scale for it.
Oooo...like those micarta scales!
Love my bugout with the black blade and jade G10 scales
Awesome video what you think is the best sharpener for the paramilitary 2
Nice👍what clip is on PM2?
Hi. Haha this is why I ordered the lanyard hole tool.
What company manufactures the take down tools? Link please.
Seeing your hands in the video can't help ask, do you spar with bobcat in your spare time over the hills there in NC. Lol neighbor in TN but, something tore you up
Great video. Had a quick question Taylor. What is the cologne you talked about on the channel a while back?
Wish they made some fancy micarta scales for Manix2
Love your videos man. Curious if you have any reviews on belts for carrying some of your edc stuff
The PM2 with OD Micarta scales looks sweet. 👌I definitely wouldn't mind owning that. 👍
Hey there! Quick question. Are those flytanium micarta scales canvas or linen? Thx.
Flytanium should comeout with crazy anodized colors and designs like the spartans.
It never occurred to me that you could get aftermarket pocket clips! Maybe a video on those options?
Ive been wondering whats better copper or brass im a coin guy too and copper has always been great but dont really know if brass is better if brass is stronger then copper it might be a better scale material then the copper
I bought the flytanium scales but Where do I buy the hardware?

U should put a lanyard and bead on the trailer hitch of your truck, just super big! 😂 JK man! I'm givin ya a hard time! Great content! 👍🏼
I bought a Civivi Elementum for $65 then added a set of Flytanium titanium scales that cost $100. Pretty sure that sounds crazy, but there you go.
I always used a T10 for the pm2 pivot
It could be T10 but I tried it first and couldn’t get it to bite. 😅
Definitely T10.
im nervous about ruining warrenty, but also want to customize mine. Will they really not sharpen anymore if u do any sort of disassembly or mods?
Hey Taylor what watch is that??
Where the heck did you get flytanium bronze hardware I’ve been looking for years and it’s always sold out everywhere
Check out rock scale designs.. they're spot on as well as flytitanium

How’s the texture on the scales for the bugout?
Nice hat Tay Tay!
i know this is an old video but thanks for this one man. and LMAO on the sponge bob references lmfao
Very funny, how you put the pocket clip on the wrong end,, ha ha ha
They have sage 5 scales?

Anybody know where I can get those little leather lanyards ?
Lots of ppl use leather boot laces and cut them to length.
The chrome screws on that PM2 hurt my soul :( Maybe you can get hold of some of the stock black ones. Otherwise it might be the most gorgeous PM2 I have seen I think
Do they have any options that are made in the USA?From the descriptions I’ve read they are all made in China.
What tools is he using?
Oh, yeah, I absolutely luv to Mod my Blades and make them my own. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
Love my benchmade’s. Wish Flytanium would offer left handed mounting holes for clips. Well, until then, I’ll keep dreaming!🗡🔪🗡🔪🗡🔪

I want Flytanium scales for my Button-Lock Elementum 😩
I don’t think the omega springs are the hard part it’s getting the blade back in without messing with them. I have tricks. I hold the axis bar back with a qtip makes life so much easier
The Bug Out w/ FlyT is a much better knife, much better.
PIVOT!!
Great video, but I’m 99.99% sure that the pivots on the PM2 and Para 3 are T10’s, not T9’s.
You are correct

watch ?
I've ruined many a lanyard tube using pliers... sigh
Who’s here early from discord?
Looks great! But I’ll be honest, this video is scaring me off of customizing my knives.
Nah it’s really not bad, nothing wrong with giving it a try, lots of disassembly and reassembly videos on here
a pair of pliers will take 1 sec.
Dang dude, you lost a lot of weight, what's your secret
First
You have lost sooo much weight
