The “integral” method of assembly/disassembly seems like more effort than it is worth. The omega springs are a minor complication, but after removing and installing them a few times it isn’t that bad.
I was certainly amazed when you got the pivot screw through on the first try. "Gonna be a short video" I thought to myself. Then you decided to change it. :)
I got the Ti ones and only hiccup was the screw under pocket clip was tighter then anything. Ended up stripping and having to replace it. No biggie but after reassembly blade was perfectly centered and perfect action. Love the channel and the commentary

Hey Nick, I know I'm a little late here but it seems to me you put the pivot back correctly on your first try. I reviewed the video a few times and it seems at 2:39 you are removing the pivot screw from the clip side. After you reassembled, it can be seen at 11:51 that you put the pivot screw right back from where you removed it. After which you disassembled all over again, only to reinstall it backwards. I don't know, maybe I'm mistaken. Maybe I've had one to many whiskey shots!😉
The integral method works fine, but let me suggest putting the stick part of a q-tip in front of the lockbar to take the tension off of the system. Then you won't need quite so much dexterity.
Help..I accidentally used a T8 screwdriver for the pivot screw and stripped it. I now seem to be stuck with what I have.. Is there a way to salvage this?
Could you just put the non-clip side on first and the push the pivot through and then the other? I know you would still need to reinstall blade at the end. I am thinking about the black micarta linen on my 535 gry.
I can not stand the carboard flimsiness feel of the factory bugout scales. Any scales with strength stronger than hardened and dried out gum would be an upgrade. Looks great!
I carry Hinderer’s and spyderco’s amongst others, but my mom carries a standard Bug Out in her pocket book because it is so lightweight. She’s 81 and wanted that knife in her bag..
@@scottmurdock1393 yeah that’s why I like my Bugout because it’s so lightweight... I think the new Civivi Bo weighs less than the Bugout, gotta check it out...
On the one hand, titanium scales would certainly upgrade the feel and quality of a Bugout. On the other, they kind of squash the qualities that make a Bugout a Bugout! (Ultra lightweight). Guess it all depends what you are looking for....
I too used to try and keep small screws in place on the end of a screwdriver with my index finger until I discovered that if you put the tip of the driver into a small blob of blue tack, twist it a few times and pull it out again, just enough blue tack stays on the end of the driver that it grips the screw and doesn't come off in the screw head....
I got into knives that later got me into guns. I think I can say that being a gunsmith may have more dangerous mistakes, but putting knives together like benchmades is more annoying.
How to take the longest to replace the scales… All you had to do is remove one side, replace it, flip it over and replace the other. Leave a pin or something in the pivot hole and you would be done.
Flytanium finally steps up their game with some design elements and internal milling! (were they internally milled before?) How do these stack up against Rockscale Design? Chinese scales on a USA made knife? Very controversial, I'm told.

Why didn't you just remove and replace a scale, flip it over and remove and replace the second scale? Or do you just like to complicate things lol. #notabrilliantman
My question, why do flytanium insist on turning ambidextrous carry knives into right hand only knives? I understand that lefties are only 10% of the population, but if the original makes it possible, why cut them out? It's really annoying.
Flytanium takes the Bugout to a whole new level. They do great work!
FYI: You can order the scales drilled for left, right or both sides.
They won't do it for titanium scales. Not a good company.
