Another great video! Side note: I've taken apart a boat load of pm2/para 3 and yours came apart way too easy. The lanyard tube is always stuck on one side, and there is always at least one stuck screw. Soldering iron's are your friend, as is the SDK lanyard removal tool.
Thanks! I’ve encountered my share of tough ones as well. The older ones were much worse. The stripped pivot screw on this one gave me a run for my money.
Nice video! After all the years as an engineer in the medical industry, and knowing all of the processes in machining, polishing and anodizing titanium I never would have thought about doing it at home. Great info !👍🏾
Just discovered your channel and I have to say I'm impressed. This is not your typical knife geek rambling channel ..you offer top notch content. Greetings from Italy.
Definitely an informative video. I like how the blade looked prior to the stonewashing, but I prefer a darker blade. All in all, a very nice build. Thanks for the video.
Spyderco Para 3, hands down. No other knife has so many available aftermarket scales, clips, backspacers and other hardware. Spyderco PM2s and Para 3s are great knives, but one weakness is that most are available only in G-10, a highly serviceable material, but not the most beautiful or luxurious. Lucky for us, the aftermarket has responded enthusiastically to the popularity of these 2 models, with hundreds of customization options, which make excellent knives even better. It’s a wonder that ANY of these knives remain, with all their OEM parts intact!
Having the extra torx bits and handles makes life easier; much better than my cheapo Wheeler Engineering set. I plan on keeping mine stock for a bit (it was used but has a LynchNW clip already) but really looking at some brass or copper scales.
That was a great video. Ive had a P2 for a while now and I don't carry or use it at all as I don't want to scratch up the blade(silly of me I know),but thanks to your video and others like it I can do something to mitigate my worry. Thanks man
Thanks a lot mate, I was thinking of customizing my Pm2 and needed a detailed tutorial and you absolutely nailed it. Was thinking of going with a blackwashed blade, bronze anodized hardware, except I like the natural look of micarta, absolutely love the clip. Thanks again and instantly subscribed to channel.
I know this video is already several years old, but it popped onto my page, and I'm happy to say that its great! New sub here...looking forward to the rest of your page!
Great video. Very informative. I like to personalize(customize) most of my knives. I don't buy knives as an investment as I enjoy using all my knives. And one can always find buyers for a modded knife if one chooses to sell one here and there.
Such a great video, i just got a PM2 yesterday as my birthday gift, i'm so excited for having it, i would like to make a customization as good as yours, greetings dude
Thanks man - awesome content. You earned my sub. Stumbled accross this video in my feed and I though "customisation". Here we go: new scales and a different pocket clip. So glad I was wrong and so glad I watched it through. This was awesome content for me - I don't know much about shop work. The knife came out sweet as well. Thanks again.
Fantastic video Sir. Please keep the knife customizing videos coming. I'd like to see what you can do with M4 steel. I have a couple benchmade contegos, and while M4 is great for edge retention, it does want to rust up quickly l if used in high humidity environments.
That was an incredible customization job! LOL...my idea of customization is run a piece of leather cord through the landyard hole, add a bead or two, tie a knot. My 50 some folding knives are placed in Roaring Fire tool rolls to protect them. You make the process look easy albeit tedious with a great result. That's my next purchase, the PM2 with the camo scales. Thanks for sharing your skills.
Great content and not too fast or slow to learn some of the techniques you are using in your excellent work. I also feel more confident to try some things that I am not used to. Not that I know much about this stuff yet but life is long right. Thanks for the video; I even subscribed and liked which I really never do. I’m looking forward to learning more awesome stuff like this! I especially like the little hints that you touch on and the reasoning it has helped me pick up some info I have not retained from lots of other videos/media. Sincerely, 🙃✌️ Take it easy
Ever have trouble getting a PM2 or Para 3 knife to center and stay centered? Me too, but I might have a solution, or at least something to try. I have found myself fiddling with the pivot for a long time, unable to get it to adjust or stay adjusted. I’m not entirely sure what is happening, but I find that if I first tighten both pivot screws all the way. Not tight, but snug. Then back them out and proceed to adjust, which should now be much easier and more effective!
Beautiful, i just ordered a paramill 2 wt the cru-wear,are you able to do the same treatment to that blade as you did to yours? Yours came out Magnificent!!!
That would be so awesome. You could stop by and one day he might show you how he lubricates his knife up close and personal. Next day he might even give your 3.44” blade one of his signature wash’s. If he really enjoyed your company though I bet he’d insist he uses his years of experience to loosen up your tight little lanyard hole. Oh man, now you got me wishing he was my neighbor too! Great minds think alike brother! Have a great day!
How does the hardware affect the overall lockup of the knife? I had a para 3 with Flytanium's hardware set installed, and the stop pin would cause the WORST lockstick. Have you experienced the same issue?
I really enjoy your videos. The PM 2 customization was outstanding work. My opinion only, I would enjoy the videos even more without the background music.
Awesome mod! Also great channel! Keep up the good job! Also want to get some canvas micarta scales, too bad it's almost impossible to find any good pieces in europe (even on ebay)
Wow, you made that knife into a really nice piece of art. I have a set of Flytanium lotus scales, stone wash, or bead blast just regular titanium, no color. Can I change the color of the scales like you darkened that belt clip? Using that process?
Hi, Wes. I want to try the stonewash on my new PM2. I’ve seen some videos about this process and they used a mix of chloride ferric and water instead vinegar. What do you recommend? By the way, I’ve never done this before.
Either will work. I’ve always used Vinegar, but some people dilute with water, some will use straight Ferric Chloride. Stronger the Ferric Chloride mixture the faster it will work, but I’ve found temperature of the solution and cleaning the buildup off the knife when you check it makes the biggest difference. Have fun and Good luck!
Very nice work. You've got me wondering what kind of results I could get with my Maxamet PM2. I'm not thrilled with the color combo on it. It has the grey scales and I think the black or near black blade and hardware would be more up my alley.
Nice video! The Manix 2 only having friction from the lanyard tube ruins it for me. A rearward standoff is a must afaic. Does the Para 2 benefit from the stand-off that’s 2/3rds of the way down the handle. Or does it rely heavily on lanyard tube friction?
I'm doing my pm2 that is s30v the scales are black I'm switching them to lime green and ordered blue anodized titanium hardware kit, a blue titanium back spacer and pocket clip. The blade is coated black. I think it will look awesome. What do you think and what are your suggestions
I’ve never seen it done. It would take significant modification to make room. Bronze washers are .01” thick, bearings range in diameter but common ones are .0625”. The blade and or liners would need a track milled to make room.
@@ThePocketPerspective what did you use for the strip screw! With such a small item!
Nice video! After all the years as an engineer in the medical industry, and knowing all of the processes in machining, polishing and anodizing titanium I never would have thought about doing it at home. Great info !👍🏾
Thanks! Glad you found it useful!
Why would you have to anodize titanium in a medical setting?
Just discovered your channel and I have to say I'm impressed.

Thank you very much and welcome to the channel!
That stonewash turned out so dam good! Thanks for sharing.
You are like the gold star for DIY at home finish set ups. Thanks for all the links, im so impressed with your results.
Thanks For Showing Your Beautiful Customization Of A Para Military 2 !!!
Definitely an informative video. I like how the blade looked prior to the stonewashing, but I prefer a darker blade. All in all, a very nice build. Thanks for the video.

To each their own, but I think the g-10 looks beautiful on the default pm2. Silver/black contrast
Having the extra torx bits and handles makes life easier; much better than my cheapo Wheeler Engineering set. I plan on keeping mine stock for a bit (it was used but has a LynchNW clip already) but really looking at some brass or copper scales.
After watching this I was like wow I’m surprised I haven’t Ever seen this guy’ thinking he must have million subscribers!
Maybe one day! Thanks for the comment.
I said the same thing!

Great job and thank you for sharing. I have an m4 pm2 that I am ready to acid wash now👍
First time viewer. Thanks for sharing. You are very meticulous and do a great job. Keep up the fine work.
Saw you jump on with Jason and Thomas last week. Had no idea you had content like this. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Steve! Tons of things in the queue. Hoping to gather some momentum.

Great vid! Not much for customizing, but nice to see how it's done. I tend to buy and use, and buy a second if I like it enough.
Turned out killer. Nicely done.

Another great video! I would recommend doing the acetone cleaning before applying the resist.

Thank u for sharing ur time & creating a video like this. Helpful & encouraging. B blessed bud!
Thanks for a very nice video. I never dreamed you could do all that to a knife 😊
My Manix-2 is about to get a complete make over, just waiting in the goodies to arrive.
Great video and great job! I enjoyed it a lot!
Really appreciate your time and effort on this video, very informative as I am just getting ready to customize my Spyderco PM2, thanks Allen
Great info and demo. Thanks!
Wow, best video I have seen in a long time 👍🇳🇴
Loving the color combos..Super well done man!

Love that bronze hardware! Hope I can find some pre-made pieces in that color.
I have one of those wera screwdrivers for my knives and they're so awesome!
They have a factory micarta PM2 with cruwear now! I’m getting it %100. Super excited😂😊
That thing is beautiful!! great job on the knife and the video. Definitely going to follow your channel
How why this channel isn't popular?
Amazing video. You’re on your way with this TH-cam thing. Great work and I can’t wait for more! 👍

Love those scales. Super hard to find at the moment.
Amazing video brother! Keep up the good work
Lol maximum effort on that pm2. Sheesh

Awesome dude, you went the extra mile on that knife.
This is gold 😎
Thats just an awesome knife mate! 👍🏻
Really nice job mate! I am trying to find out what I want to do with my tanto pm2 and this is a great inspiration, thanks.
Nice work, Sir!
Профиль for life!
Awesome work Bud!! Love it!! ✌🏻🙌🏻
Great job, great vid!
Awesome video, great knife. Thanks !!!
Amazing!!!!
I know I'm late to the party but dang you have some great content. Hopefully you start up again
Nice job looks good
Awesome video 🔥
How do you not have more subscribers than this . There are some really hacky knife youtubers out there with waaaay too many subs.
Thanks Richard. Hopefully the channel’s growth picks up. Still waiting on the breakthrough or for TH-cam to start recommending the videos more.
Great video man!👍🏼

Learned a lot! Thanks for the video 😎👍
Great Video!!!
Do you know, if the acid stone wash method also works for the cru steel? I have an Spyderco PM2 with Cru Steel.
👍👍👍👍 Hi from Russia
Great content. Well done
I really enjoy your videos. The PM 2 customization was outstanding work. My opinion only, I would enjoy the videos even more without the background music.
Thanks Mark! I’ll take your music preference into consideration. Maybe do a poll when I get a few more subs. I appreciate the comment!
Awesome mod! Also great channel! Keep up the good job! Also want to get some canvas micarta scales, too bad it's almost impossible to find any good pieces in europe (even on ebay)
Still, it's amazing how easy it is to assemble a Spyderco compared to the selling price.
I'm going to get a para 2 or para 3 one day. As long as I can save up
Nice work! Have you thought about customizing peoples PM2’s for the people who are not able to do it them self?
4:38 mind blown
Wow, you made that knife into a really nice piece of art. I have a set of Flytanium lotus scales, stone wash, or bead blast just regular titanium, no color. Can I change the color of the scales like you darkened that belt clip? Using that process?
Great video, can you tell me actual time for total process as I'm curious. Thanks for the tutorial!
Dade, I think it would take about an hour if I wasn’t recording and talking.

Ain’t nobody going to do all this lol but it’s dope video
looks killer
Très beau travail
Oils you make a video on removing the lanyard tube and re installing it as well.

If you dont mind me asking what profession are you working
What clip is that? Looks nice
You’re better at anodizing than Flytanium.
Great video thanks
I'm doing my pm2 that is s30v the scales are black I'm switching them to lime green and ordered blue anodized titanium hardware kit, a blue titanium back spacer and pocket clip. The blade is coated black. I think it will look awesome. What do you think and what are your suggestions
Possible to throw bearings into a PM2 ?
I’ve never seen it done. It would take significant modification to make room. Bronze washers are .01” thick, bearings range in diameter but common ones are .0625”. The blade and or liners would need a track milled to make room.
@@ThePocketPerspective true , of course they are to thick , action is not bad on an PM2 but would love to feel a bearings swing on it.
Спасибо из России!!!
Мы то же любим spyderco)))
Magnifique 🤩
nicely done !
