As a long time fan of the series, this felt like a special reward for the loyalty of playing through all the previous games. I miss this game and definitely need to go back through it again. Seeing the characters that have been developed over the course of many (real life!) years and spanning decades in the game universe, this felt like what everything had been leading towards for a VERY long time. The score set to the battle makes it feel suitably epic, the fighting styles changing to match each of the games was a brilliant nod to nostalgia, and the voice actors did an amazing job of bringing all of the characters' emotions to life in a way that only MGS really can. I've always liked how Snake's health bar always said OLD SNAKE throughout the game, but here - in the final battle, after injecting himself with the nanomachine shot - it changes back to SOLID SNAKE. Like the legendary soldier we all knew is back, once again, if only for a moment.
Because snake eater was such a big part of my childhood, when the snake eater theme kicks in and the health bars lose their color it gives me goosebumps every. single. time.
Amazing to think this was 2 generations of consoles ago. Shows you how great the production of this game was. It pushed the ps3 to its absolute limit. And it was early in its lifespan too
7:10 For all the mortal enmity between these two, it was plain that by this point, it was personal enough that they wanted to settle the score fair and square.
When the life bars goes in and it is mgs1 desing, i stoped playign and started crying for like 1 full hour i knew it was gonna be the last time I played as my childhood hero the legendary Solid snake...
Gamecube Solid Snake is still the most badass. He was able to do a backflip off a rocket than somehow pull out two stinger missile launchers from his skin tight suit and fire double stinger missiles still in mid air. 😎😎😎
Snake and Liquid Fighting to end an old grudge, to end with Ocelot remembering who he is and fighting out of respect of the man he admires, the embers of The Boss and Big Boss that still flickers within Snake, then both Liquid and Ocelot saying their farewells to Snake before Ocelot draws his final breath knowing he completed his life long mission. the fact that this is told during the fight, jogging Ocelots memories and personality, the way that he fought throughout the different phases, fricking muah its a bloody masterpiece
As yall can see, Snake's health bar turned from "OLD SNAKE" to a "SOLID SNAKE" This move shows, that its the final moment of Solid, one last fight of him and his brother - Liquid
This. And Act 4. Were both abso-fucking-lutely BRILLIANT. This game needs to be on other systems. More people need to experience this. I genuinely believe that. I finished the game this morning. Pulled an all-nighter. Before that, went on an MGS Binge, played through 1, 2, and 3 over a good bit of time. When I saw the Healthbars pop up, I thought "Oh, that's a nice homage" And then the fucking music kicked in. And then the changes during the fighting. And... man. MGS4 is genuinely one of my favorite games of all time. Part of me wonders if I should platinum it. Maybe someday.
A reminder: Snake is 42 years old (but is probably physically in his mid-70s), and Ocelot is 69-70 years old. All things considered, these guys are doing pretty good for their age.
Solid snake in his old age was fighting against super soliders and beating them. Big boss in his old age lost to a rookie solid snake equipped with a can of hair spray and a lighter. Solid snake is the strongest solider.
This wasnt just a boss fight it was the last boss fight to end all boss fights truly a weapon to surpass metal gear the final fight for the finale of a frachise this storybis not solid snakes or liquids its ours ours for all time the story was how we lived as a snake and as big boss the music the tension the desperation the sadness the pain the loss the gains and triumphs are ours and we left this frachise with a clear picture and a fragmented memory truly a one of a kind series

I've always liked how Snake's health bar always said OLD SNAKE throughout the game, but here - in the final battle, after injecting himself with the nanomachine shot - it changes back to SOLID SNAKE. Like the legendary soldier we all knew is back, once again, if only for a moment.
I always love how their life bars change in round
Because snake eater was such a big part of my childhood, when the snake eater theme kicks in and the health bars lose their color it gives me goosebumps every. single. time.
I understand the criticisms, but this was/is so fucken epic it still blows my tiny little mind, just like it did back in the day.
This was my first mgs and this was one of the most badass boss fights ever
4 was my very first metal gear and what made me fall in love with the series
The fight of legends . This battle were purely emotional !
I can't believe Liquid just threw all of his stuff into the ocean. That's littering. I am literally crying and shaking right now.
truly the most heinous of his crimes
KInda sad that MGSV's music won't appear in this battle even in a re-release. Venom Snake is fated to be forgotten 😔
That was the point of Venom. You can cure the venom that’s in your bloodstream but you’ll never forget the snake that bit you.
@@LAGator-qu7tc I know, but it's still sad for me. He's pretty much like The Boss.
@@gundle_dx yeah it is sad... sad that it had to be someone
This is by far the best boss battle ever made
Amazing to think this was 2 generations of consoles ago. Shows you how great the production of this game was. It pushed the ps3 to its absolute limit. And it was early in its lifespan too
7:10 For all the mortal enmity between these two, it was plain that by this point, it was personal enough that they wanted to settle the score fair and square.
My favourite moment of this scene, and that's saying something
I love how a story this over the top and insane ends with a fist fight between two old men
The greatest final boss in gaming history. Epic ending.
I remember that
That's actually the second weakest version of Snake in the series
@@GeneFOX70 which one is the weakest?
@@synon7449 MSX Snake
Ew no the ps1 is the better version
when old snake playin my tears falls down... snake had a hard life...
5:48 bro that moment ALONE sold me on this fight. gave me chills all the way through!
Ocelot the best character after the Snakes. Would play a game as him
8:00 when that music kicks in, shit got me so hyped.
As yall can see, Snake's health bar turned from "OLD SNAKE" to a "SOLID SNAKE"
This move shows, that its the final moment of Solid, one last fight of him and his brother - Liquid
When that life bar replenished….oh man that was the best!
5:50 gives me chills every time i watch it
Otacon in 2014: "The AI is truly a living thing"
2023 now: 😳
With the amount of throwing and how old they are, its only a battle between who breaks a hip first
Me and bro in the nursing home giving eachother a warriors death
@5:50 that LIQUID!!!! Sends all sorts of emotions through me
This.
When I saw the Healthbars pop up, I thought "Oh, that's a nice homage"
And then the fucking music kicked in.
And then the changes during the fighting.
And... man.
MGS4 is genuinely one of my favorite games of all time. Part of me wonders if I should platinum it.
Maybe someday.
Artificial old man beats up a natural old man
When your grandpa remembers something his brother did 60 years ago and wants to settle the score
A reminder: Snake is 42 years old (but is probably physically in his mid-70s), and Ocelot is 69-70 years old.
All things considered, these guys are doing pretty good for their age.
Nice
Age hasn't slowed them down.
15:53 the moment of ocelots Heart Attack and like BB He survives for a bit and dies with a Last one Liner
Solid snake in his old age was fighting against super soliders and beating them.
Big boss in his old age lost to a rookie solid snake equipped with a can of hair spray and a lighter.
Solid snake is the strongest solider.
He wasn’t exactly a rookie though it wasn’t his first mission
Snake's a super soldier himself so it was normal for him.
That wasn't the real big boss if I'm remembering right, its the player character in MGSV that loses to rookie Solid Snake
@@TheCindering No, that was the real Big Boss. You fight Venom Snake in MG1, in MG2 you defeat BB with an improvised flamethrower.
its almost 2025 and i still think this was probably the peak of gaming for me.
Old Snake is now canonically alive in Fortnite
This wasnt just a boss fight it was the last boss fight to end all boss fights truly a weapon to surpass metal gear the final fight for the finale of a frachise this storybis not solid snakes or liquids its ours ours for all time the story was how we lived as a snake and as big boss the music the tension the desperation the sadness the pain the loss the gains and triumphs are ours and we left this frachise with a clear picture and a fragmented memory truly a one of a kind series
