It has an actual plot and isn't a half-assed excuse to fight like "you looked at me funny" for some of the death battles. It makes me actually want to see who wins by the end of the fight.
It would be like a slasher flick with Fisher, kinda like Predator. With Snake.... I would be fully expecting that Hide and Seek would inevitably turn into a game of World War 3.
*Snake:* "Besides, I don't think you're cut out for an SC-20K modular assault weapon in the first place; you tend to twist your elbow a little to absorb the recoil. That's more of a revolver technique. But, that was some fancy shooting. You're pretty good."
This is when DEATH BATTLE peaked for me. A fight that lasts more than three minutes or two. Good representation of characters. It feeling more like a story than just a trade of abilities in a analytical game of catch up and a really good production to add.
This was an abysmally terrible representation of Sam Fisher. While it gave his back story well enough the actual fight went on as if they had never heard of Splinter Cell
For the people complaining that Snake won after being shot and stabbed...... twice: 1. Nanomachines suppress all pain, only a well-placed lethal shot could put Snake down for good. 2. He survived bombardment from MICROWAVES. Two bullets and cuts is nothing to him.
Austin Hou What is he supposed to do? Flipping makes him a much smaller target. Running directly across the hall is very easy way to get yourself shot. So, what was he supposed to do to dodge those bullets, hmm?
Austin Hou Yeah. Ask any professional highly-skilled acrobat ever, then make him a super-soldier. Even so, that was probably just a problem in editing. They probably didn't think about the duration between the flips and gunshots.

And if death battle decides to do the dumbest idea of Solid Snake vs Pit it will be The guy who literally kills giant nuke robots everyday vs the angel warrior who fights gods. That is a whole lot fair
William Maya If you take away Pits fancy weapons and it was a H2H situation, Snake is actually capable of putting him down fairly easily. But that’s a big IF.
@@CollegeBallYouknow what's a H2H situation. Anyway pit is very fast and very strong. His best speed feat is reacting to the lunar sanctum's laser and pit is around planet level.
@@SomeWeeboLoser While Pit does have the capabilities of dodging lasers from the Lunar Sanctum, surviving enough blows from gods, demons, aliens, and even the Great Sacred Treasure, his experience in battle is not as great as Snake's. Pit can only carry a few weapons on him (Thanks to Super Smash Bros.), while Snake has his own arsenal, such as camouflage, his Solid Eye, and can even find weapons to help him. Not to mention, Pit's close combat training is nothing compared to Snake's training, so Pit would definitely lose in that regard. Also, Snake can figure out Pit's weaknesses, such as running for a limited time until he runs out of stamina or using the Power of Flight for limited usages so that he can't burn out his wings, or worst of all, using food to lure him into a trap. Finally, Pit's not the brightest bulb out there and always relies on the Goddess of Light, Palutena, or the Goddess of Nature, Viridi, to help him, while Snake is more than intelligent to go solo if Octacon can't be able to give him all the answers or the support he needs.
I liked your comment as it's funny but that is not how espionage works, the data cannot be shared/ other party can't have it regardless of if you have it or lose it...
Imagine how unstoppable these two guys if they worked together, Sam can infiltrate just about anywhere and Snake can kill just about everyone. They should make a game like that.
Snake also has a massive physical edge having gone toe to toe with opponents possessing legitimate superhuman speed and strength. I mean he not only survived but *won* a fist fight against a cyborg that was able to hold up MG Rex as it was trying to crush him underfoot... Just saying...
Snake is definitely physically superior by a considerable amount but Grey Fox isn’t the best example since: 1. Lifting strength ≠ Striking Power 2. Fox wanted to feel the pain, he was basically begging to get his ass kicked so it’s kinda unclear if he really went all-out on Snake when he wasn’t mentally all there. A better example would be Liquid Ocelot who could dent submarine armour and Snake matched him literally blow for blow.

@@Strykerx31 The death of the tactical stealth genre. I've been playing MGSV, really looking at other similar games recently. Splinter Cell is an obvious one. How is the stealth tactics in Ghost Recon Wildlands?
Snake’s stealth is being unfairly downplayed by almost everyone in the comments. Now I’m not denying that Sam is Snake’s superior in that regard but you need to take a closer look at the specific circumstances that Snake is under during his escapades. Snake specialises in OSP, meaning that he goes into missions with almost nothing BUT the bare essentials and just picks up whatever is useful along the way. Now let’s compare the two spies’ equipment together. *Sam:* • His suit • Five-Seven w/ silencer • Dem Goggles • Cameras • Various smoke projectiles • *That voice* • etc. Sam’s got excellent equipment for infiltration, surveillance, etc. *Snake:* • Cardboard Box • Knife • Various sidearms w/ silencers • Tranqs • An assortment of sprays • *Dat ass* Snake’s equipment is almost like a DIY toolset with how bare and simplistic it is. But what about Snake’s other equipment? Well most of that stuff isn’t really suited for stealth at all, because there’s a lot of explosives such as his Nikita, rpg, grenades, and even that damn rail gun. Moreover, the majority of the times that Snake’s been caught is usually due to the plot forcing Snake into these unavoidable events called “boss battles”. I doubt Sam could outright avoid the likes of Gray Fox, Psycho Mantis, or Ocelot. All these guys were either enhanced to be beyond human, having psychic powers or being capable of sensing things that shouldn’t even be possible to detect for a human. Overall Sam was far better equiped for his missions whereas Snake comparatively had little to work with, plus the fact that Snake had to contend with superhumans with unfair advantages.
I think it's also down to the environment that each one operates in. Snake is more of a jungle combat type of guy while Sam is more urban combat. Each are very powerful in their own regard however when out of their element they tend to suffer a little.
Paxton Fairbanks The guy you’re thinking of is probably Big Boss. In nearly all of Snake’s missions, he’s usually operated in urban areas or Industrial sites such as New York, Shadow Moses Island, and even the Middle East. So he’s not out of his element at all, which doesn’t really matter all that much anyway seeing how adaptive he is. The only time that Snake was ever in a jungle was in certain sections of Metal Gear 1 and even then it was split between being in those and a military base.
@@CollegeBallYouknow He's done more jungle missions. Old Snake(MGS4), for example, had an entire ordeal in the jungle, when he was looking for Naomi. That's when he was in his worst condition of all the games, which says something considering all he did in 4. You're right though. He's trained to be adaptive and that's exactly WHY they always send him and Big Boss in with minimal equipment. They're good and procuring onsite to minimize evidence of their involvement, but that doesn't even matter as of MGS4. On new playthroughs (which makes it still canon just like the bandanna giving infinite ammo because it has the infinity symbol stitched on it, and the Patriot having infinite ammo because the barrel is shaped like the infinity symbol lol), that little... well I called it Mouser so much because it reminded me of those things on the old Ninja Turtles cartoon... anyway, Otacon straight up says it can even hold all the gear he'll need and to not let the size fool you. It even holds the Rail Gun. So he COULD have all his weapons and make this even shorter work since the thing could even stealth up and knock out Sam lol.
If you did not know snake was going to win you was dumb snake fight guys with super natural powers all the time Sam has never fought someone with super natural powers and never fought someone as like snake snake fights people that should be able to Easily kill him every mission
Snake is better at stealth with no gadgets on either side. But the OctoCamo can't disguise from heat scanners or EMPs. Yet even then Snake is far faster and stronger than skilled human Sam. This death battle saved his best move for last: the melee disarm, just so Sam fans weren't TOO pissed.
There’s always someone who can’t help themself and comments this meme quote thinking it’s still relevant and hilarious after a million attempts from other people. No. No, no, no nooooo.. naughty.
This fight somehow feels more like a Metal Gear boss than most Metal Gear bosses do. Like this feels like an appropriate fight for Snake compared to *Hot Coldman*
Yet, ironically, Sam is now the only one left... Hell, even Sam misses him and is bummed he's the only stealthy super agent around (47 notwithstanding) when he finds out in Ghost Recon Wildlands. Even if we disagree on who we think should have won, I think we can all agree that It was a better world when both of them were around. RIP Snake 1987-2015

Sam Fisher was right about one thing. He knew if he didn't take care of Snake immediately, he might get tailed all the way back to the plane or even killed enroute. Given the cloaking tech Snake had, following Sam would've been a breeze.
Just goes to show he wasn’t even trying. I mean the man’s started in green berets when he was 15. It’s really not a fair fight. Genetically enhanced, and nano-machines.
@@kiloklavdi1185 Genetically inferior… only on paper and exclusively to Liquid. @@CollegeBallYouknow I mean I always kinda assumed Snake got the dominant genes, but Liquid doesn't understand how genetics work and didn't realize that more likely the recessive genes were the ones they were looking to cultivate, making him the superior clone as a result. I remember they were hesitant on doing this one because they didn't know how a stealth focused battle would work But man I really glad they did as they really hit it outta the park on this one.
The use of a cardboard box for stealth ops provides an interesting debate. It's such an illogical idea for a stealth tool that it's essentially completely logical for one to use it. That being said, does that make anyone who actually decides to check under it good at their job for checking for enemies everywhere likely (which wouldn't normally include under a cardboard box) or bad at their job for assuming it logical for someone to actually be hinding under one?
That’s the genius of it. It’s so stupid guard’s probably wouldn’t assume someone would use a cardboard box as a disguise. Than again a guard that is stupid enough to probably check would be easier to sneak around anyways.
The animation on the fight was fucking great for this episode. Though when I think of two masters of espionage and stealth pitted against each other, rap music doesn't really come to mind. Kind of a weird creative choice.
Realistically, Otacon and Grim would have "worked something out" once they realized they were working on the same side. Snake may be escorted to the Paladin for Sam and Snake to coop the mission further....Though Snake may not go for it as he really likes working alone.
“One shot and hes down.” proceeds to get shot and slashed and is fine enough to kill an elite soldier. This went exactly how I thought it would, even if I like fisher more. Great death battle
Basically only a headshot can kill Snake immediately..His camo heals Snake from stab wounds and gunshots that don’t hit vital parts of the body..Add on the fact Snake survived being thrown off a bridge while being tied and crawling thru the microwave room it’ll definitely take more than a few stabs and gunshots to beat Snake
I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if that actually happened at some point in Snake’s career. And it still wouldn’t even be the craziest thing he’s done.
The problem with any fight featuring a DBZ character is that they have one of the most boring sets of abilities ever. It's just not interesting to watch.
The Bladed Brony !!! Goku Vs Superman is a WAAAAYYYYY Bigger Fight than Solid Snake VS Sam Fisher. GRIMLOCK07 He said more exciting. Which is his opinion and I agree. The Goku vs Superman fight kind of dragged on. Plus it just seems more entertaining to watch two guy use strategy and conventional means to fight. As opposed to energy attacks and overblown punches, but that's just me.
Ah yes, Big Boss. Besides that, and them incorrectly saying that it was his nanomachines that caused him to age rapidly, you have to admit that they really did a good job with this Death Battle. Even though the simulated battles were just for entertainment, they really included everything in there this time. EMP counters OctoCamo, Solid Eye counters stealth, etc., and proved that the battle ultimately came down to whoever was the best at close-quarters combat, which was Snake.

If you take away Pits fancy weapons and it was a H2H situation, Snake is actually capable of putting him down fairly easily.

Snake is definitely physically superior by a considerable amount but Grey Fox isn’t the best example since:
1. Lifting strength ≠ Striking Power

*Sam:*
• His suit
• Five-Seven w/ silencer
• Dem Goggles
• Cameras
• Various smoke projectiles
• *That voice*
• etc.
Sam’s got excellent equipment for infiltration, surveillance, etc.
*Snake:*
• Cardboard Box
• Knife
• Various sidearms w/ silencers
• Tranqs
• An assortment of sprays
• *Dat ass*
Snake’s equipment is almost like a DIY toolset with how bare and simplistic it is.
Even with all that... Snake can get stealth camo and go all predator. Yeah. I feel like his stealth was downplayed to give Sam the edge in SOMETHING.
I think it's also down to the environment that each one operates in. Snake is more of a jungle combat type of guy while Sam is more urban combat. Each are very powerful in their own regard however when out of their element they tend to suffer a little.
Paxton Fairbanks
The guy you’re thinking of is probably Big Boss.

But man I really glad they did as they really hit it outta the park on this one.
Actually on a death battle cast they confirmed that was a joke, unless the wiki on this fight was lying to me.
I mean its good to be cautious and aware of your surroundings, so no, its not really stupid. In these situations, you gotta expect the unexpected.
There is footage of a man escaping prison using a cardboard box.
The cardboard box paradox

18:10 I’m sorry. As a fan of both Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell, this is just great.
Makes a good background
Snake was 41 when he aged rapidly, not 35
In my opinion, this is death battle has the best fight animation
Xx BigBoss xX Damn Straight
Agreed
+DARKSIDE209 Wolverine vs Raiden was top notch too. I'd say that one wouldve taken the cake but the voice acting wasnt the best.
+Carter Gates yeah, the animation was amazing but the voice acting was ok
What about vs Goku vs Superman 2?
The animation on the fight was fucking great for this episode. Though when I think of two masters of espionage and stealth pitted against each other, rap music doesn't really come to mind. Kind of a weird creative choice.
Lyle McDouchebag It is upbeat no doubt but I was expecting to hear some actual Metal Gear music.
Lyle McDouchebag what song is playing in there fight?
You would have said that regardless of what happened.
Lyle McDouchebag whats wrong with rap music? Cant everyone have their own lane
Why did they play rap music in this battle? That was a stupid move in their part.
Sam fisher and solid snake wouldn’t kill each other, their leaders would team them up for a duo stealth mission
They could stop WW3

Realistically, Otacon and Grim would have "worked something out" once they realized they were working on the same side. Snake may be escorted to the Paladin for Sam and Snake to coop the mission further....Though Snake may not go for it as he really likes working alone.
“One shot and hes down.” proceeds to get shot and slashed and is fine enough to kill an elite soldier. This went exactly how I thought it would, even if I like fisher more. Great death battle
One well placed bullet. Sam didn’t place them well enough.
He's nano machines suppress pain

ThePikachuvirus nah the moment he used the cardboard box he won. Lol
LieutenantAlaki Shed a couple of tears when he said that.
LieutenantAlaki shivers! I did the hand gestures too when I heard it!
When Boomstick said he was bombarded by microwaves I thought someone was throwing microwaves at Snake.
I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if that actually happened at some point in Snake’s career.
And it still wouldn’t even be the craziest thing he’s done.
Yea, that was in the prequels, that ocelot has always been pretty weird like that.
I bet he thought of that too

This battle feels more exciting to watch than the Goku vs Superman one.
If you ask me the Goku vs Superman fight took way too long
The problem with any fight featuring a DBZ character is that they have one of the most boring sets of abilities ever. It's just not interesting to watch.
The Bladed Brony !!! Goku Vs Superman is a WAAAAYYYYY Bigger Fight than Solid Snake VS Sam Fisher. Then length of that fight was expected.Besides, the fight is only 3-1/2 minutes longer than this one.
Honestly, between these two fights which one you think would be the "MAIN EVENT"?? And no one wants to see a short fight between some of the MOST POWERFUL & POPULAR in Anime/Comic Characters history.
The Bladed Brony !!! Any fight involving a DBZ character always takes way too long.
GRIMLOCK07 He said more exciting. Which is his opinion and I agree. The Goku vs Superman fight kind of dragged on. Plus it just seems more entertaining to watch two guy use strategy and conventional means to fight. As opposed to energy attacks and overblown punches, but that's just me.
solid snake doesnt use the 1911, he uses a USP tactical, naked snake was the one that used a 1911
Ah yes, Big Boss.
Bruh your so dope
They were referring to Old Snake.
Ashley Johansson Its been a long time since Snake was deployed with a Famas and USP. MGS 4 Solid Snake (Old) had a 1911 Operator given to him by the Otacon/MG Mk 2 along with a ruger MK 2 .22 tranq and the Solid eye. Prior MGS3 BigBoss/Naked Snake used a 1911.
Joe Green naked snake and solid snake arent the same guy
19:30 I think we can all agree we wish they would have outros like this again.
No one mentioned how snake could’ve killed Sam like 2 times before the final blow but went in for chokeholds both times.
Nobody said pacifist runs were easy.
@@ketch117-2 He tried for pacifist and then just went ahead and killed him.
@@theotherbeatle707 It's more that Sam was at a dangerous level of competence - he was good enough to force Snake to take off the kiddy gloves and have no choice but to take him seriously as a threat… but not good enough to actually win. If he was just a bit less exceptional, he might still be alive…
Well the animation isn’t necessarily how the fight would have gone, and it’s more interesting and exciting to watch this way.
@@ketch117-2 Sam has a harder time taking foes from the front in the games. Snake can grab and attack from any angle plus he has superhuman speed and strength.
Plus Snake is better at stealth with no gadgets even. I agree Sam can shoot Snake faster than Snake can move but if they had pure stealth here Sam would be dead.
And thus, *Snake returns to Smash.*
GodHaloKnight yeah baby
GodHaloKnight this might be the last time we see our boy in a video game. The legacy of metal gear might fade from gaming history. A moment of silence for the big boss and solid snake. They might’ve kept us waiting but they were both pretty good

ok that was pretty funny
Still one of the best death battles. Not just the fight but the fact that there are actual story elements instead of just the characters randomly fighting. Don't think any other DB tells a story like this one.
Fun fact snakes nanocomunications has been hacked by one person slippy the frog this happens in smash bros brawl when you taunt in snakes map
polar yard7856 j
Oh yeah I forgot that
Then again slippy is technically an alien. So it wouldn't have any effect on Sam or Grim's ability to hack snake's codec.
Smash Bros Brawl isn't a Kojima game and thus is not Metal Gear canon so it's irrelevant.

Otacon: Please tell me it's not a cardboard box.
Snake: Do we need to go over this again?
First of all, the comraderie and chemistry between Otacon and Snake is perfect. Its probably also one of my favorite things about Snake in the games, because everything about him screams 'angry PTSD loner' but he has such a genuine friendship with Hal despite how RADICALLY different the two are. To say nothing of how deadpan serious Snake takes his own goofyness, like his obsession with cardboard boxes on sneaking missions.
Second and more importantly, I'm genuinely curious how frequently they have this argument XD
Probably once every mission or two
As if Fisher would had just used his themral vision and find snake with his head sticking out or use sonar to get him? Whag does death battle think fisher js? Stupid?
