i like it too, everybody's could think that he is the semi-final boss, but even with that you can just defeat him in a fight, so the CQC is effective even with big guys.

His development was in his mentality in the sense that he realized that he has no other choice than to beat her. It was gradual but he got there eventually.

All things considered, John did quite well against the Boss in MGS 3 considering he JUST got into the Fox Unit and the Boss was a co-founder of Fox and his mentor. Also, gotta love the CQC in MGS 5, it feels so crisp and fast.
This popped up in my suggestion. I'm glad I stumbled upon it. Something that made me love MGS3 is the detail they put into Snake's CQC. He explains to the boss in the second codec call how his CQC is "probably pretty rusty". And it really shows in his first encounter with the Ocelot unit. Sure, Snake defeats them, but his CQC is notable rough all around. As the game progresses you can see how much more proficient he gets, and fucking love it. I know this is a very obvious detail, but it's so hard not to enjoy.
And even before that, you can tell that Venom Snake isn't Big Boss just from the CQC choreography alone. Venom Snake very clearly pummels people a little too much; Big Boss is more of a grappler than a boxer when it comes to CQC.
@@TheResilient5689 Venom feels so damn ruthless, and it's great. Although, I figured it wasn't the real Big Boss due to the fact he doesn't speak nor understand Russian- as MGS3 has Sokolov complementing Snake on his Russian. Which is still a really nice touch, even if unintentional.
I haven't played all of MGS besides 5, but I can tell Hideo Kojima really liked 1970s-80s David Bowie. Every major character is eccentric and sports a mullet.

I forget where I read about it now, I think it was determined by the LAPD or something, that if an assailant was within 21 feet or closer, they could get to you faster than you could draw a gun from a holster and line up a shot, so it was better to prepare for a hand to hand engagement at that range. If you can't have a shot lined up already before they are within reach of you, you run the risk of them grabbing the gun, as The Boss demonstrates multiple times.
Solid Snake always knew CQC since FoxHound, but after MG2: Solid Snake he stopped using it. That changed in MGS4 when OP: Snake Eater got public. Soldiers thought they were using CQC so Snake would't want to be left behind and started schooling their asses.
Venom snake seems to be the most aggressive and violent cqc based character and he was just a normal soldier hypnotized but somehow big boss can lift a peace walker off of himself and get utterly shit on in mgs3 😭

Just a basic man with no real enhancements besides his arm. Is still more of a unit in my mind then naked snake. And yes I’ve played EVERY game in the franchise all the way to metal gear rising. Only games I’ve ever %100 in my life my dude, Venom snake is still more of a unit without any enhancements to him. Jack still gets owned in 3 and it was very apparent. Can’t change my mind. I know you love big boss as much as anyone else but even then In the end he became the villain just like the rest. Solid was the true hero of all the snakes 🐍

He's the CQC OG (also The Boss) and the reason these other bad asses are using it. Plus Ocelot was pretty equal to Solid. Can't say the same about Big Boss. So many variables though.

What I don’t understand is that. Liquid ocelot says that he knows all of cqc. But the boss and solid invented cqc. So how would he know it more than snake to win that fight next to the tunnel system ?

MGSIV CQC Is... so bizarre to watch lol. Like the characters have no weight and the motions snake makes wouldn't generate nearly enough power or be fast enough to actually do anything.
