There is an extra pully if you have an air conditioner. So keep an eye out for that. The tensioner bolt you use to take on and off the belt may require more leverage then a wrench will give you. I had to use a breaker bar with a socket to get my belt on. Also, there are 3 different styles of belts for the same vehicle. 2 different styles of belts for this vehicle with an air conditioner. So keep that in mind when buying the belt. Just because Amazon says it will fit your vehicle, doesn't mean it will.
I have 96 Previa LE SC... Do u know if it requires 2 or 3 belts ? From top, I see only 2 belts but some online diagrams have 3 belts. Maybe there is extra 3rd belt for SC Super charger but unsure. Thanks 🙏

Great video. In real life, the 100% correct belt was missing about 1cm to slide on the alternator wheel, so I kept pulling and pulling the tension bold with wrench as you do in the video, untill it snapped and cracked completely. Result: unable to put the belt on anymore.
Very good video Peter and excellent details and film quality! I was going to do this job for my girlfriend but now that I found something so detailed with basic instructions for beginners she can just do it on her own. Just kidding 😂.
thank you very much for posting your video, it helped a great deal when i replaced the power steering belt, accessory belt and alternator in my 2006 xb. 3 hours for all plus an oil and filter change.
I am SOO happy I found your channel. I have a Toyota Yaris and this helps me so much. I just got my serpentine belt changed on Friday, it was very bad. But after I got it changed, it is making a loud screeching sound. It used to make a low screech before with the old belt. But now with the new one, it's louder than ever. I have to go back on Monday to get it fixed. But what could have happened that made it screech so loud? Do you think it was put in wrong?
Hello. So, if your car's engine looks similar then my engine, then the issue might be the tensioner. This part tightens the belt. You might need to change that tensioner too. You find that my video in here: th-cam.com/video/eJnxY7kM18Q/w-d-xo.html and here: How to disassemble engine VVTi Toyota Part 2: Tensioner drive belt
very good show !!! not exactly the way I would do it but very helpful....I have to give him credit for being patient and the comic relief for his English.....Very good job sir very good job...
Hey Peter. I will probaly change the tentioner and everything my toyota with around 340,000km on it. Do you have video of how to change it and adjust it?
Peter, how to you adjust the timing on the timing belt you know how the belt area there a white dot line when you turn on the engine and you use a special timing tool that has a light that blinks? Do you have a video for that?
Hey Peter, I have a Toyota Yaris from year 2000. But my alternator is in the back. Is it the same method even if the alternator is in the back, or do you use a tensioner pulley instead?
I use a 18mm super socket/ratchet to move the tensioner forward. a 19mm will round off the head of that nut on the tensioner if it slips off. good job you make it look simple but things can go wrong........thanks
Forgot to let peeps know that you need to unscrew the lower bolt you cant see on the alternator, if your belt squeaks , you need a bit more tension on it therfor need to readjust the alternator.
EXCELLENT video - thanks for posting. May I suggest some English words that may make it easier for people to follow the very good instructions in future videos? This is not criticism at all, just suggestions that may help you succeed even better: not wheels, but pulleys; instead of holes and hills, 'grooves' and 'ridges' that must 'match up' or 'interlock', or even 'mesh' - (like gears, almost) ; instead of 'rotate' maybe 'slide'; also, be specific on tools - at least the first time you refer to it: '13 mm box-end wrench'; the word 'wrench' - the w is completely silent, so it's just 'Rench' - or here in Texas "Rinch", or in Arkansas - "Ree-yunch" - ha ha, just kidding. Hope this helps, and thanks again for sharing your time and expertise.
Thank You. Your English hints are excellent. I test your recommendations soon like: slide, Rench and Rinch. PS. Please send more English hints to me also in Future. :-) Thanks. :-)
Peter Finn Thank you! One more question though. On my 2000 GTS how long is the serpentine belt? I'm trying to order one and I have no idea what size it is. I've looked all over the Internet and all the sites I've found the belt length varies from 60 inch to 74 in. ?
The alternator is as tight as i can make my belt. but it still squeaks. so i think the guy that put my alternator on stretched my belt. or could it be from tension bolt or something?
Thank you, excellent vid just what is was looking for when i do my celica on fri, and im glad its a nice easy job to do, unlike my previous car. To help people visualise it better you could always put up a diagram of how the belt fits around the pulleys like this ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/NewKid08/2009-09-18_144444_DriveBelt01RAV4Fig02.jpg

I’m very late to the video but the VVTI Toyota’s have a timing chain not belt
Hey Peter, I have a Toyota Yaris from year 2000. But my alternator is in the back. Is it the same method even if the alternator is in the back, or do you use a tensioner pulley instead?
Yes
Excellent video. Gives me the confidence to tackle this job today.
Thank You for feedback. It is very important :-)

😀👍
Nice video! So as I can see there is just a one belt both for generator and engine?
That is correct
You made it look so easy.
What's your secret?
Forgot to let peeps know that you need to unscrew the lower bolt you cant see on the alternator, if your belt squeaks , you need a bit more tension on it therfor need to readjust the alternator.
+El Cabron Del Norte Many Thanks for info. :-)

Hi Peter!
What length on the belt should i have on my 1,4 VVT-i with air conditioner? 1560 or 1840mm
Hi, now I recommend You to visit here: th-cam.com/video/P0Jn9Qw17HM/w-d-xo.html

Nice video!
Glad you enjoyed it
what size wrench should I use? I have a vvti 2000 toyota celica gts and an 18mm is a tad to small but 3/4 in and 19mm just round it.?
It is 19 mm !
Peter Finn
Thank you!

74 inch is if you have aircon 60 without
My belt is squealing and the belt is good. Even tighter? Mine goes about 90 degrees as well.
+doomie77 You need to fasten it more, 45 degrees is Ok.
oh, I'm so dumb, the belt is at about 45 degrees. it only makes noise when the accelerator is pressed.
OK, then your belt is too old. Please replace it to new one. Old belt's material is hard.
The alternator is as tight as i can make my belt. but it still squeaks. so i think the guy that put my alternator on stretched my belt. or could it be from tension bolt or something?
+Azeria Burch Hi, you need a new belt. You might have old belt. And belt is rubber and old rubber is slippery.
I've found this to be very helpful, thanks Peter 👍🙂
Great info, my Friend. :-)
