a lot of good info and thank you for it! How are you going to skip putting the belt back on? That's the whole point of your video! In my case my belt snapped so i couldn't use the old belt as a frame of reference.
Rule of thumb, any smooth pulley you have? The smooth side of the belt runs on it. Pulleys with groves ? You run the grove side of the belt on that. And really just start from the top and maybe think of a circle and work your way either left or right to complete that circle. Apply what you know with what surface of the belt and pulley go where and you can change just about any belt without a diagram. BUT if you did prefer, you can search online for the diagram of your specific cars belt and use that.
Hey guys so I went on some sketchy websites and found the legit Toyota Workshop manual for this type of engine. When you pull back the tensioner you can lock it in the loose position by inserting a 5mm bihex wrench tip into a hidden hole on the furthest hex bolt away from you on the tensioner. Then, when you pull the tensioner clockwise, you should be able to line up the hole in the further hex head to a gap that holds the tensioner in that position like a pin. When you are done changing the belt, put some clockwise tension on your wrench again, then take out the 5mm bihex wrench tip, and slowly let the wrench go counterclockwise so the tensioner can put pressure on the belt.
Really your like detailed explanation, more than other channels, do and don't. Great job! How miles to change a belt at? I am at 90K on 2015 Corolla LE.
Im confused, i dont see the spring where you show it but my car also does not have a tensioner bolt on the alternator either. Its a 2020 toyota carolla le with a 2zr-FAE Engine
Why didn't you just use a Bando Belt? That is the Toyota OEM. If you buy it under the Toyota Brand at the dealership it's almost $70, but if you buy it under the Bando brand at Napa or Advanced, it's $26.
Changing a belt by yourself is a bitch. Had one bust on me while driving. Took me multiple tries and a burst of every ounce of strength I had to get that new belt on there
Is it best to replace it based on mileage, age or by using a Gates belt wear guage? I heard the ribs or groves widen with wear but the EPDM material doesn't crack like the old Neoprene belts used to. My 2014 has 80k miles and the belt shows no signs of cracking. Maybe I should buy a Gates belt wear guage to check the grooves?
It can be somewhat of a fight. It’s better if you have a second person to help hold tension on it and hold back the tensioner pulley. It’s usually easiest to slide it on one of the smooth pulleys versus one of the rib ones for the final pulley.
Had a quick look at your video. Hardest part was last bit putting belt over alt pulley. All done many thanks
$219 at the dealer 🤣🤣 I nearly laughed in the techs face when I saw the price in the recommended service list.
Same! That’s why I’m here too! 😂
Right for a $30 part more or less at best with 3 year warranty 😂

Thank you for your detailed videos. It helps a lot!
Thank You Sir !! need to changeone on her car , very helpful
Always carry a spare belt. If you just change the belt, at least keep the old one as a backup.
Great explanation...enjoyed your tutorial...thank you sir
How much miles to do you need to change it
Really your like detailed explanation, more than other channels, do and don't. Great job!

very much helpful for me... just what I wanted thank you and keep up the good work this video was very informative and well explained thanks much.
Wish you’d showed putting the belt on. You go over everything so thoroughly and then when it’s time to put the new one on BAM it’s on!
I have a 2016 corolla S and it doesn’t have that spring auto tensioner where do I release the belt
does it have a manual tensioner?
At :40 he’s not wrong. I just got stranded in the middle of nowhere
Changing a belt by yourself is a bitch. Had one bust on me while driving. Took me multiple tries and a burst of every ounce of strength I had to get that new belt on there
must of had trouble putting on? share what was the trouble???
typical fight with a serpentine belt. very little slack so it takes time to find the right spot to get it on.
Probably couldn't hold or position the camera while doing it.
Does a broken belt disable the power steering? You never mentioned that. My car is 2011 Corolla. Also several dash lights came on, like ABS light.
If it has hydraulic steering it would

its a pretty cheap and easy thing to do so I just do it every 100k so I don't have to worry about it.
At the dealer right and they tried to charge me 170 plus tax for that 😂 just bought one for 29.99 and took me 5 mins to replace
Please send better Vedio of were the spring is at please
Always change the tension-er when doing this. I didn't.........9 days later, guess what went out?
Good advice!
How many miles on the car when you changed the belt?
@@Lughnerson little over 100,000
Why cant I get the belt back on? Belts is the same size as the old

This relatated to the 2012 carolla s also?
Only if it has an automatic tensioner
where did you put the wrench 🤔 to lose it what bolt🤔
It’s not a bolt it’s a stud that looks like a bolt
Is it a 14mm stud that you pull clockwise to release tension?
Same procedure for a 2019 Toyota Corolla se boss?
Should be
Is this a 2015 toyota corolla ?
Yes
I definitely will buy ur car when I sell lolz.. becos g48 maintaince u serve
Can this be done on a Scion iM 1.8L?
If it’s the same setup with the automatic tensioner
@@EnthusiastsGarage okay, let me check.
@@EnthusiastsGarage its the same! I got the automatic tensioner.
which bolt
Top one.
Get a Gates belt if you’re willing to spend the extra money
Serpentín and timing belt are the same ?
No, 2 different belts
It was good, Except the rambling. Talking about what models of cars, etc. isn't changing the belt. Good video but PLS get to the point next time.
Way to much talking and not enough doing
You took way too long to get to it and kept restating the obvious. And....the engine is way cleaner than my 240000mi one😠
Waste of time. Move on to the next video.
Lol mm
