I was always thinking that is was an unstable shoulder until I came across this video . The '' pulling hands apart'' acromioclavicular joint test just cleared things for me . Mr. Schrupp and Mr.Hieneck I don't know if you know that , but you are literally helping al kinds of people . I personally believe that every physiotherapist must watch your videos . Bob & Brad I'd like to thank you guys for your advice on how to fix shoulder pain, I've been trying to get back into a good sleep routine, but my shoulder was giving me a terrible time, so something as simple as putting a pillow under my ribcage to change the load point has made all the difference, so very much appreciated thanks guys

    Well, I fail the rotator cuff ones and number 8 is exactly as you describe with the nerve. Once it clears and the arm is up it feels fine. It doesn't help that to do all of these I have to lift my left arm with my right one due to the extreme pain. I tore my rotator cuff back in the 90s surfing and this happened while surfing and then was worsened by a bad fall while hiking. The motion needed for paddling my surfboard is impossible right now. My shoulder got suddenly compressed while attempting to pop up on one wave & the pain was intense. In the weeks leading up to that, I was having constant elbow pain and numbness/tingling down through my fingertips.
    Most likely you two won't ever see this comment but, you two are great. Watching your videos helped me through my recovery from having both hips replaced back in 2018. I did my own PT and did just fine. While I may never be where I was 10 years ago I'm doing quite well considering. I'm 60 by the way and I do some pretty difficult hikes.

    I'm really impressed that Bob & Brad included Fibromyalgia in 2017. It took me going through a few doctors and finally a rheumatologist to get diagnosed. There are still some doctors today who are not convinced that it's a real condition. I had one tell me that Fibromyalgia is something you end up diagnosing after eliminating everything else. No! There are very specific symptoms. It really takes a Rheumatologist to do the specific tests to make a proper diagnosis.

    • @rubyfirefly2582
      @rubyfirefly2582 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @bina nocht She did many tests on all sorts of levels of things in my blood and body. I couldn't tell you specifically as I don't understand most of them. Very medically technical. Things like hormones, lipids, hemoglobin... a very long list. What I remember is that there were things present that only show up with Fibromyalgia and nothing else.

    • @rubyfirefly2582
      @rubyfirefly2582 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @bina nocht Actually there are many studies being done and there are doctors who believe that not only is Fybromyalgia a real condition but that it has a specific cause. That cause being a neurological disconnect between the brain and body in the pain receptors and the interpretation / misinterpretation of pain. The medication I'm on that helps considerably, rewires the brain a bit in this area.

    Thanks guys! I’m a 54 year old Crossfitter (uh-oh!) and I’ve been doing a lot of virtual body weight CrossFit classes. I cannot move my arm away from my body, but this video makes me believe that I have tendinitis, as the most pain is felt on the anterior arm at the deltoid muscle and bursa site. I have the painful arc and it hurts when I place my hand on opposite shoulder and then lift the elbow. Sitting against a wall, I cannot place my arm at a 90 degree angle and forget getting the elbow and even knuckles of my hand to the wall to do a simple raise. So much pain! For now I’m treating the arm as if it’s broken during workouts and only doing lower body work. I don’t think it’s a SLAP tear or arthritis.

    A++ for you both! This really helped narrow down my issue. I think the relief of just knowing what my issue is, brought my pain level down, and got me focused on relevant solutions. Pinched nerve test (the 'ridiculous test', as you jokingly called it) rang my 'bell' 100% on my pain side, and 50% on the other arm side. So I did some research and after previously trying acupuncture, lidocaine patches, hot pads, cold pads, pain killers and just about EVERYTHING else, (nothing was really working) I found some info on Capsaicin hot patch for 'calming down' the nerves.(I was anxiously thinking I would need some serious surgery, the pain has been 'nerve racking', pun intended.) I had the patch on for less than 5 min and had to take it off, as I was feeling a very hot, almost burning sensation that I was warned about. Ironically, after 10 minutes of running coldish water over my shoulder in the shower, (and thinking this was another wast of time), my pain level went from a 4/5 day marathon (with VERY little sleep, and cranky like a wounded Bull), of 8-9/10 down to a 1-2/10! It seems that my body reaction to the Capsaicin may have 'neutralized' my nerve pain? No idea, but like magic, it worked!! Albeit, the reaction made it much worse for about 10 min till I cooled off the burning pain with a cold shower, the aftermath, somehow made the pain drop down almost immediately. I was totally not expecting this, and I am still in a bit of disbelief, but relief has finally arrived. I will cut down the 5x7 patch size in half next time, and be quicker to take it off as soon as I feel the burning sensation, which can cause actually burns to some whom are allergic, according to what I have read. Somewhere a surgeon just shed a tear. And my Bull headedness paid off really thanks to you guys! Godspeed my brothers and keep up the great work. Thank you.

    This was actually a huge help thanks guys. I didn't believe there was actual useful and professional content on here anymore. Genuinely subscribing.
    I have the first one. Pinched shoulder nerve. Pain in left shoulder area when head is turned to my right and pressed down there is definitive pain even before pressing down on my head. Can feel the stiffness and mild pain doing it while turning my head to my left but comparatively nothing. Usual pain was seemingly at random like I could move my arm fine most of the time then from nowhere extreme pain. Seems to be when I moved my torso for mild pain and both torso and arm simultaneously for the good stuff.
    No numbness or tingling in either hand,
    I'd just like to say how surprisingly painful this is. I've suffered with gallstones for 20 years and after the first time and your scared you can actually tank through it.
    With this I've not had more than 5 hours sleep for the best part of a week now even with throwing two OTC co-codamol in me at night. I wake up in agony. I cry out in pain when I move. A few paracetamol (Tylenol) eases it up fine for the day though.
    As far as I'm aware as to the cause is I did it in my sleep... As stupid as that downs I went to bed fine woke up in pain the next day. Woke up the next day lying on my side while attempting to drive my shoulder point first into the bed as hard as I could in my sleep. Which as you can imagine was equal parts confusing and extremely painful.
    Hoping this eases up on it's own. It's not exactly the right time to be bothering the NHS.

    ...
    Shoulder pain commonly occurs due to many reasons. Even If you don't lift weight, you can hurt your shoulder because of labor, house work, etc. However, It is possible to prevent a lot of injuries by mobility training on a regular basis.
    Shoulder joints consist of balls, sockets, rotator cuff, humerus, a lot of muscles and ligaments. Rotator cuff muscles have four parts which are infraspinatus, supraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularis. These rotate, elevate, and stabilize arms and shoulders. And in front of humerus, there is bicep tendon.
    If you have bad form, poor posture, or miss control, there is a lot of possibility to hurt your shoulder part.
    Bad form causes injuries. If you shrug your shoulder and perform some movements, you may tear your rotator cuff tendon, have bursitis, or get bicep tendinitis. It can be torn partially or completely. If you would like to avoid those problems, you should pack your scapula so that you have enough room to move a ball well.
    Poor posture, especially, your rounded shoulder creates shoulder injuries. When you bench press, your scapula has to be tilted posteriorly and your shoulders have to be rotated externally. However, your sedentary life style makes it hard to move your shoulders smoothly. So, doing mobility training should be essential to improve coordination.
    Even if you have nice mobility and form, if you lift too heavy or go to failure, you may hurt shoulder joints. So, stop working out before you hurt too much. Taking few days break is much better than stopping your workout for many months.
    If you had pain, meeting specialists should be done. However, you need to test your doctor before you completely trust him. Because, there are a lot of liars looking for easy victims. Just because he is a doctor doesn't mean he is trustworthy.

    I started getting pain in my shoulder after a month of doing 20 min home exercise routine.
    My shoulder cracks when moving it in awkward positions now and it gives me a sharp pain when I'm resting on my elbows. I can simulate this pain by trying to reach at the top portion of my back as in trying to scrum my back with the back of my fist facing my back and pushing it up.
    My left hand can be pushed higher up but the right hand starts feeling uncomfortable half way through, it used to be worse a month ago but now its a lil bit less severe lol

It came on after i had shoulder pain doing heavy bench press and i tried to work through it. Took a month or so off direct chest work and now i still get pain but only with the bench press, do you guys have any idea what could be causing this?
    P.S i was holding the bar too low so maybe that had some pulling affect on my shoulder joint i don't know

    • @Ninjakeeper69
      @Ninjakeeper69 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be your set up. If you're not setting your scapulae properly, it could lead to the shoulders over working and experiencing pain. Try to really pull your shoulders down to your hips, and squeeze them together. Should feel like you're about to cramp. Doing some scapula retraction work in your warm up might help activate those muscle groups for bench press later on.

    I am a 12 year old baseball player. I throw extremely hard for my age (low to mid 70s) and have shoulder pain when I throw. Last year I was diagnosed with an inflamed growth plate. Now I feel slight cracking, discomfort, and pain when I throw from over 20 feet away. I took a few weeks off and there was slight improvement. I can't tell exactly what I do have. The affected area is around the rotator cuff, on the front of my shoulder. Could you guys possibly be able to tell me if this is serious? Thx so much if you took time to read this.

    Lol. I'm getting a bit older and powerlifting and bjj seem to be somewhat incompatible with that.
    Unfortunately I can't stop getting older and I don't appear to be willing to stop powerlifting or bjj, so I keep ending up here on the internet learning about injuries.
    One thing I will say though is that consistently, when I need information on an injury, I can usually find a description of it on this channel.

      I have osteoarthritis in my shoulder and was positive on that test. Physio helps but I ended up having a local steroid injection (directly into the shoulder) and that was extremely effective for me. Also, I get a 'flare up' once or twice a year where my mobility is reduced and it is painful. That usually goes away in a month but sometimes needs heavy duty pills to clear it. Hope that helps.
