I've had shoulder pain/rotator cuff pain for the past year and couldn't get it to get any better. I went to PT for 4 months and the pain minimized just a little. I went back to Ortho and they wanted to do surgery. I wasn't too happy to go that route. I jumped on TH-cam found this video and have been doing these exercises for the past 3 weeks. I have to say these exercises work and my shoulder/rotator cuff has not felt this great in over a year. I was skeptical, but didn't want to have surgery so I tried it. 3X's a day for 3 weeks now and I am very happy with results. Thank you so much!

In hindsight, I vaguely remember our high school gym teacher putting us through a lot of the movements described here. It was, however wasted on youth. Most of us just wanted to work out with weights and get a bodybuilder look instead of concentrating on the health aspects of exercise. I did become a bodybuilder type and now I am suffering the results of too much emphasis on size and strength as opposed to range of motion and injury prevention. If only youth was not wasted on the young. There is no substitute for the wealth of wisdom that comes with age and experience.

I've been loading the rotator cuff incorrectly per Dr B. "Deltoid Raises" where I haven't always done correctly. At one point I was even doing
deltoid raises with 20, then 25, then 30 pound dumbbells. Putting
tremendous long-term stress on the rotator cuff. Didn't notice it
for a long time. Then began noticing it a little, then it would go away.
Then I was needing a month off to rest the deltoids.

Thank you Coach E and Dr B, as a 63 yo retiree, I am still playing tennis 3-4x a week and riding/racing/coaching MTB bikes and off road motorcycles. I have a lifetime of overhead sports (baseball pitcher and tennis), but my rotator cuff has been bomber up until 3 weeks ago when I cartwheeled my dirtbike. Acute pain immediately, and difficulty/some pain when lifting my arm. Two days ago visited an Ortho clinic, prelim diagnosis was tear in supraspinatus, had a immediate orthorpeadic ultrasound with a confirmation of a 1/2cm partial tear in supraspinatus tendon of the rotator cuff. My tennis teaching professional suggested reviewing Coach E's youtube videos and I found and watched this one. I am doing home PT with the hope of being back to normal in 6-8 weeks with no surgery. Thank you again for the excellent video. I plan to continue to do easy MTB/road bike rides (no crashing allowed) and am working at developing the capability to play tennis with my non-dominate arm in the short run to scratch my itch of playing tennis during my two months of rehabbing the dominate arm. Cheers and Thank you. I am hoping for no surgery and no further crashing in the short term!

My right shoulder is lower and slightly forward than the left - played squash years ago and my shoulder 'popped out' which I could push back into place, so to speak. I can't wait to try these. I theoretically tore my rotator cuff a month ago in a bad fall, but haven't been able to get in to see any PT, sports med doc, or even get an MRI due to no openings in all of Seattle (one general internist told me it's most likely a tear, but none of the referrals he made for me for PT have openings for months). It's time to take this recovery into my own hands since there is no medical care available in Seattle any more. Every person for themselves! Thank you for the video.

Thank you very much! I've had a misaligned shoulder for 20 years now, since I had injured it doing professional tennis at the time. I did all the adviced exercises daily for many years, but I think the misalignment only got worse. Since I have stopped doing intensive sports and stressing the shoulder since about 10 years, slowly the joint has become better. The past 2 years I started doing similar isometric exercises Dr. B showed in the video and that has made things get a lot better. I have better alignment in the neutral positions now but still problems when raising the arm over shoulder hight. I am going to try the exercises you showed, especially interested in the loosening of the back part of the capsula because I think that could be a main cause.

I particularly loved the Shoulder Saver (extending the shoulder but going the opposite way with the scapula tilt to actively reduce anterior scap tilt--brilliant!). Not enough people talk about Serratus Anterior exercises to correct Anterior Scapula Tilt on TH-cam. The Serratus Anterior (& Lower Trapezius working in conjunction to upwardly rotate the scapula & open up space in the shoulder) is the key to strong shoulders.

During my 30 years as a Bering Sea fisherman, I never experienced shoulder or bicep pain. However, when I started working at a fast-paced bakery, I began to feel shoulder and bicep pain. My job involved stacking bread pallets onto a rolling dolly at a very fast pace, with the pallets reaching about 3 feet over my head. The pressure to stack the pallets quickly to avoid the bread ending up on the floor made me feel uneasy. Despite being used to enduring pain as a fisherman, I soon realized that I had arthritis in my shoulder joint. Additionally, I suffered a full tear in my rotator cuff tendon after falling while pushing my grandsons in a wheelbarrow. Although I don't attribute the pain to a single incident, I believe that lifting the bread pallets beyond my reach contributed to my need for treatment.

This rotator cuff routine is incredible. I have been doing it for over 2 weeks now its been helping alot.
All the core muscles in my mid and upper spine are still to turn on and re-engage as my rotator cuff goes deeper into its gurdle. I have also been adding the Bicep Tendonities video with this routine as they go very well together.
On in between days I am doing your forward head posture routine. They all work great together. Definitely going to take one of your courses once things pop back into place. These exercises are also lengthening and strenghtening the spine for those with compression/damage anywhere there.
Do you have any routines for lower back and hip alignment?

Absolutely INCREDIBLE VIDEO!!!!! Wonderful information!!!! As brutally painful as shoulder surgery is, I’m so happy to hear I will only need shoulder surgery if I have a total, full thickness tear showing on the MRI!!!!
I’m an Above Knee Amputee and I was coming into the house on my forearm crutches, from taking the dog outside last February, 2022.
My left leg is the one missing and my left crutch was wet from the snow and it slid quickly out to the side and down I went in a huge crash!!!!
My upper body fell onto my left elbow, which severely jacked my shoulder up and I believe it caused the upper rotator cuff tendon to tear!!!!
My VA doctor recommended an MRI and I am finally getting an MRI on both shoulders now since I have since damaged the right shoulder now as I have favored the left so much!!!
My right Rotator Cuff was reconstructed in October 2019. This is why I know how brutally painful the surgery is!!!
I would be super happy to be able to avoid surgery, but my body is telling me I will probably need the operation, as it is extremely painful to reach out to the left side to turn the bedroom lamp off or on. Anything straight out from my side in a raising motion is excruciatingly painful!!!!
I have an excellent Orthopedic Surgeon. I have my two shoulder MRI’s the day after tomorrow on January 10th, 2023.
My VA Primary Care Provider has injected both shoulders about a month ago.
I’m anxious to learn whether I have a complete, full tear vs. a partial tear, which can possibly avoid an operation!!!!! I will be keeping my fingers crossed until I get the resulting information from the two MRI’s the day after tomorrow!!!!
Thank you so much for all the wonderful information!!!!!!

Thank you so much for sharing all this information! 😊 I have a diagnosed partial thickness tear of the supraspinatus (from an acute injury that happened earlier this year) as well as impingement and tendinosis. I can do the cuff isometrics (and theraband exercises recommended by the PT I saw a few months ago), the standing robot reach and side lying external rotation (with light weight) with no problem/pain. However, when I do the 4S shoulder saver exercise - OUCH! It makes my impingement pain flare right up. I’m not sure why, especially since I’m careful to follow the instructions in the video, but I feel like since it’s painful to do it’s probably causing more damage. (Maybe I think I'm doing it correctly and I'm not?) Is it possible to rehab a strained rotator cuff without doing 4S (and the shoulder circle crossovers)? Thank you so much!

I am having a problem with getting a doctor to really listen to me about the pain I’m having because I can do all the movements they ‘test’ for. But when I’m holding my arm up to eat/drink/doing makeup, in a certain area of motion I am shaking. I can’t hold my arm still unless I use the other hand to control it. I am having shaking in my neck now. I know this is all stemming from my shoulder. But I don’t know what I need to do because it seems like they don’t really know much about how the cuff actually works:

I recently completed 6 months of Physical Therapy for what my MRI found was a “partial tear of the Glenoid Labrum.”
I had fallen on my shoulder in November, while running. My Physical Therapy was consistent and my recovery has been slow and steady. As a competitive runner who had always enjoyed body-weight exercises and strength training with dumbbells, I was unable to do many of the exercises due to my shoulder injury and felt I never would, having lost most of my upper body strength. That changed when I started following Eric and his Precision Training videos where I learned everything about ‘The Shoulder and Rotator Cuff injuries, and HOW to REHAB and STRENGTHEN the SHOULDER!! I mean ALL of Eric’s videos ( with Dr. Boynton, too.) I am happy to say my shoulder is getting stronger! I’m doing Eric’s specific exercises ( * 3 Keys to Rotator Cuff Tear…) and using 3# DB’s for basic strength exercises ( no lateral exercises yet.) I am thankful for Eric’s knowledge expertise, and Precision Movement!

Hi doctor my mri report shows I have injury in rotator cuff in both shoulders, local tear of right supraspinatus muscle key. Fluid accumulation in both shoulders indicating slap injury. I lift weights (nothing crazy). I am also a professional guitarist. I don’t feel much pain until I perform any incline bench presses whether it’s dumbbell or barbell. Also both my forearms are always sore. Do you think if I modify my exercises and not do any overhead movements, I should be able to recover from this?

Curious. Once there is a tear, exercises aren't going to put it back. It will still be torn. I'm skeptical and don't want to injure it further by doing these exercises if I'm going to end up with surgery anyhow to do the repair. Exercises aren't going to put the tendon back where iit belongs will they?
