In severe pain but explained to a doctor that my neck muscles were sore & he told me I need a spine doctor, that neck & shoulder muscles don’t work together as a group. Needless to say, I insisted on getting a new doctor. Not sure why I feel numb from my elbow down to my fingertips at times too but there is something nasty going on in my shoulder & bicep area.

Thank you Doctor! Your explanation has really helped me to better understand my shoulder problem. I am currently between the 1st two.
I have come along way from my torn rotator cuff about two years ago. I couldn't even grasp a piece of paper, my arm felt like it wasn't even there unless it was in pain. I definitely could not raise my arm above my head or behind my back.
Physical therapy helped me get back my motion.
Unfortunately I'm now suffering with the same shoulder due to using crutches for a few days with a broken foot. I now have a knee scooter to get around although the pain in my shoulder is unbearable and keeping me a prisoner to my bed with ice on it.

Hey Chrater! The Rotator Cuff Tear Recovery Program has officially launched check it out here:
The Rotator Cuff Tear Recovery Program is a comprehensive program designed to get your shoulder pain under control to allow the rotator cuff tendons to heal. Then it guides you to correct the underlying root muscle imbalances so that you can fix the source of the problem (rather than just treat the symptoms) and get long-term relief from shoulder pain. This program works even if you've had rotator cuff surgery in the past but continue to have rotator cuff problems. This is an absolutely fantastic video. I'm a poster child for shoulder injury and progression of symptoms, pretty much spot on to what you mention. Rotator cuff, labrum and biceps tear back in 2006 with surgery in 2007. For the most part got considerably better for years, but I've continued to play throwing sports (as best I can) with moderate success (I'd say 80% back to original at one point), but in recent years the shoulder is going downhill with arthritis and a quick sharp momentary pain only when I try to throw hard. Could throw soft toss all day without pain. Man does this annoy the heck out of me. I don't want to give up sports, even at age 55. Anyhow, this is a superb video for anyone wanting more shoulder information. Trust me, I know. On a final note, NEVER GIVE UP!!! :)

Solid video, everything I was reading made it seem like I had a tear, but it seems like I'm on the Impingement side where I just need to take it easy for a while on that shoulder.
I also need to stop sleeping with my arm up since I feel like that's what messed it up. I had started doing weight training and I feel like having my arm stretched like that all night stopped it from recovering properly for the next workout which led to the injury.

Thank you very much for this...most videos don't mention that impingement & tendonitis can also have some of the similar symptoms as a tear (stiff when you wake up, etc). I was confused because after watching those other videos I matched with some of the symptoms of a tear, but I feel no pain when just sitting around, I can lift my arm pain-free 90% of the time, and have no pain at the top of the shoulder where the bone ends, etc. I was also baffled because there was a specific spot on the front of my delt, down pretty low, near the tie-in with the pec where it hurts most. I also wasn't experiencing weakness; I still bench pressed two more times since the onset of the pain (not a smart idea in retrospect), and though it was painful my strength wasn't reduced. It was frustrating trying to figure out what was going on, but after watching this video my symptoms sound EXACTLY like shoulder tendonitis. Thank you so much, I can watch the other videos you have now for some rehab ideas (along with laying off benching for a couple weeks obviously).

Hey just wanna know about those symptoms, did u have an issue when you were moving your arm BEHIND your body, for eg the position of your arm when you're at the bottom of a pushup, or when you're rowing and you're at the top of the motion? Because thats the major movement that gives me pain, that too at a specific spot.

Thanks for great explanation. Not entirely sure what I've done yet. But it's affected my grip. And it involves my biceps, too.
