      sometimes a marine biologist also has training in advanced animal husbandry, but usually a marine biologist does scientific research, not veterinary medicine.

    Love your videos I got a Oscar that was sick with hole in the head when i got it and your video on the subject helped me get it cured up and the method you used in your video also healed the holes they went away too.

    I'm in Alberta Canada, and we can't even purchase medicine for our fish anymore without a vet's prescription. Lovely video. Terrific that you could help the eel.

      I have not heard of this. Heck, PetSmart, Petcetera, pet stores, fish stores etc all carry fish medication in BC that can be purchased by anyone without a prescription.
      The only way that it even makes sense is if the fish require medication that is also used by / prescribed to humans. I can understand it in that case.

    I don't know much about keeping eels or lion fish but, could that be too much rock formations?

      Eels love and feel safe with lots of rock work.

      I agree. I know they need a hood amount of rock but that seems excessive to me.

      We've to be very careful with anthropomorphism. Moray eels do poorly with wide open spaces. This tank was specially set up for George by a contracted marine aquarist.

    Why did you not perform the X-ray here, and is there a way to safely remove rocks from a moray considering their unusual jaws? Excellent video as usual I'm loving these uniforms

      To be sure, you can check the dissolved oxygen levels and oxygen saturation. Good systems are 80-100% saturated at all times.

    Not enough swimming space! More than likely stung by the lionfish. (Please have it removed to prevent this from happening again in the future.) Then startled from the shock and hit the rocks. This is one awesome eel and id like an update please.

      Thawing food in water (in this case, thawing in water inside the fridge) before feeding leaches out nutrients that have either been fortified or just naturally found.

    That tank looks super cramped with those rocks. It would look much better with fewer rocks and more swimming space. It's just sad to see these beautiful animals trapped like this.

      @@kerielwatson3197 still that tank has too many rocks and compared to the tank it looks cramped. Even in aquariums larger than these they don't cramp the tank with rocks like this.

      @@deepthapasan6269 it's really not too cramped. It only seems so due to optical distortion and the fact the eel was swimming in an abnormal fashion. Extra open space for both eels would cause them stress. Research these fish. You'll find the tank is pretty well spot on.

    I ran a phylogenetic analysis with the addition of a moray eel and found it nested not with other ray fin fish, but with a clade of lobefin fish thought to be extinct since the Carboniferous, the Rhizodontidae.
