Goldfish surgery of damaged popped eye by fish veterinarian Dr Loh

- In this video we show you a surgical procedure used to treat a goldfish with a damaged, bulging popped eye, unfortunately for this fish the only cure was to remove the damaged popped eye with surgery, though with one eye removed this goldfish was treated and is expected to make a full recovery and is already happily swimming back in his pond.

Not everyone can throw around money like that on a small creature like a fish. If you do, then power to you. Plus, not many vets are probably able to perform surgery on small fish, so even if you have the money, you'd probably have to search all over creation for a specialized vet like him. Unless it was a rare and valuable species of fish, no one would have time for that. You would just be better off putting the poor creature out of its misery and buying a new fish for less than ten dollars at any Petco or PetSmart.

+old bread It depends on how you define pain. They can certainly feel discomfort. Knowing how fish react to negative stimuli, they can certainly feel sharp jabs of pain, but possibly not long term pain.
For example, a fish will pull away if it bites on a hook, but will not react if that hook is in its mouth for a few minutes unless it is pulled on.
AKArainkit They lack the nerve capacity to feel what we define as pain. Their reactions to it is simply an instinctual instruction.

He will probably have links to sources that explain his points in more detail, but it did indeed say that marine biologists discovered new things about fish nurology and the accuracy of their pain receptors being on par with human pain receptors.
