Like last time the tasting will be in the next video about the ants. I just posted an ant video (before the goal was reached) so it might take a while but it will be here..
This was the last time I set a challenge like this..

will there be a part 2?

I love the narration, it sounds like someone who just got shot but isn't in too much pain.
That is very specific 🤣
@@HomemadeEcosystems that's because I'm from Brazil
I really enjoyed the narration--very droll.
Like teddy rosevelt in that speech he made in 1911?
This is that best way to describe this holy shit
I'm not even an ant guy, and I watched this whole thing. You're actually pretty funny, and the presentation was fairly charming.

@@jeffdaniels7237That's pretty cool, actually.
I literally laughed out loud when you described the worker carrying the other ant ‘carefully’, making sure to bang her head on everything 😂😭

I like this guys humor, very to the point while also sounding dead tired lol
A lot of people mistake the bubble-wrap for protective packaging. You are supposed to use it to communicate with your new ants using Morse Code, which was invented by ants. Samuel Morse stole the idea from them. Usually you will be provided with a large enough sheet of bubble-wrap for a short greeting and to provide the map coordinates for the location where you want the colony to establish itself. If you just randomly pop the bubble-wrap your may confuse the ants or anger them. Congratulations on your hipster ant colony where deconstructed versions of popular ant dishes are served on sheets of rock.
if that is the case I pissed them off hard 😂

Dude, your dry delivery on your quick and witty jokes is gold! 😆
“The most important part of any keeping is… ants.”
Wow. Riveting information, I would never have guessed. I’m so glad you’re the expert!
Love the tiny shovel. It’s a special guest!
Yeah I love to share my knowledge..
As a child, I got an Uncle Milton’s ant farm for Christmas one year… never ordered ants, just caught a few from the yard and put them in…didn’t realize that doomed them til they died. Your video, was entertaining and informative…your ant home, amazing. It makes me want to try again here 45 years later 😎

Didn't even watch it yet and I already know you named every last one of those ants, BOB

Can’t say I’ve ever wanted to keep ants before, but the equipment seems to be really high quality!
Yes antstore is definitely on the expensive side of antkeeping but it is indeed high quality!
Be carefull with the plug at 3:02 - if it gets too cold/warm they can just fall off. I had to vacuum a few hundreds of my Messor one time because of that.
Thanks for the warning! I already put some tape on it but now I'm going to put some extra to be sure 😂
Your narration is great. These videos are already interesting, and your comedic narration makes it that much better. Great work.
I have an extreme phobia of insects and bugs, but your videos are helping me desensitize myself. Your tone and humor is great!
If it makes you feel any better most/alot of bugs are harmless
Fun fact there's tiny spiders livin in your face and makin out right now just google it and you find out im not lyin 😅 now u can forget that insect phobia 😂

I really enjoy your ant colony unboxing videos. I started watching your channel because I'm pretty apprehensive when it comes to insects and I am trying to learn to appreciate them more lol. So thank you for making your videos!
I used to be anxious about insect keeping, too. So I put a praying mantis in a terrarium next to my bed. She is the first thing I see every morning, and to her, I am a necessary evil. If you can get past that nightmare, the rest is no problem. 😉
@@jLoRaineK I don't think I'm ready for that step yet hahahah!

"I'm trying to get sponsored by the tiny shovel company."
LoL
That got a like click.
3:35-hearing I think it means "stay the f in the terrarium oil" was excellent. 🤣🤣🤣
The worker in 12:17 is indeed a worker that recently eclosed(the stage where an pupa turns into an adult in complete metamorphosis). Her exoskeleton is lighter coloured as her exoskeleton needs time to harden and darken.
Thanks for the info!
i think its pupae not pupa
11:54 That's pupal transport. To waste less energy, a worker gets into pupal (last stage of brood) position, and another one grabs her and carries her.
Another note. Isn't that nest way too big for that colony? That nest is made for colonies with thousand of workers. (not the sand one, the one with the premade tunnels). The nest being so big can stress them and they will also probably deposit trash in the nest, causing potentially fatal mold outbreaks.
Edit: I just watched the end of the video, my bad
I was suprized about that, as i usually see them used as expansion nests, vs right off the bat
i think its pupae not pupal
The algorithm brought me here but I stayed for the low key hilarious narration.

I had a few ant colonies when I was young and now I need one as an adult. Thank you for your awesome videos. Your content is great.
Thanks!
I'm here for tiny tools and I'm not disappointed
That crippled ant is such a trooper 😢 so brave
I have quite the same Antstore digfix nest and outworld for my Camponotus Ligniperdia, for when the colony gets big enough to move in.
I made a small chamber and entrance in the digfix for them, to give them a good start.
This showed up in my recommended and your sense of humor hooked me immediately. Absolute banger of a video can’t wait to see how they progress.
The return of tiny rake and tiny shovel! Thank you for having them make a reappearance!! Good video!
Ok, now I am invested in this colony. I hope there is a part 2.
I'm definitely going to make a part 2!
TH-cam suggested this tonight during my insomnia. Wasn't put to sleep and now i'm ready for part 2!
For science.
Messor is a really great starter species. They grew fast and are easy to feed becuase the seeds last them for weeks. Messor likes dry terrariums/arenas/nest parts to collect and store seeds. No hydrometers needed.
No acid, no stinger, claws for crushing only (the big ones can pinch, if they get you in your nail bed, but not brake skin) . Messor is an awesome species to keep.
I have a Messor barbarus colony for 6 yeats now and it isn awesome. Stated with 21 animals and now it is uncountable.
10:30 bro accidentally enabled fall damage for ants
yeah I really didn't know they took fall damage, at least not from such a low height
Its a good day when homemade ecosystems posts 😅
Your deadpan narration is a light in my days.
“She might be a queen, but she’s not going to be winning any beauty contest”😂😂😂
I love it!
Cushions are also because they are all glass, it keeps them from shattering. They have them on all glass aquariums without plastic frames.
I have been keeping ants for about 3 years and I love watching them but I love it even more that you are now making videos of them❤
Imy situation is completely the same i als have been keepeing ants for around 3 years

Tiny shovels, ant poking...I knew today would be a good day when I woke up!🐜🦗 If you don't mind me asking, how much space does the entire set up require from end to end, the way you have it set up?
I measured it and it is about 85cm so a lot! But you could make the tubes shorter or longer so they can curve and the nests can be placed in front of each other

Dude, that actually IS sad. No joke. I didn't know ants could become crippled/paralyzed. Especially due to falling. I truly believed ants didn't get hurt from falling at any height. Apparently that's not true. It is amazing but sad to learn that.
Yeah some people commented that they don't take fall damage but I saw it fall and it was like that after ...
fun fact: ants are British because they all colonize.
💀
A little bit different they colonize their own place or area 😅
I’m British so this is rude to me
@@Lcfc4life1 I don't know why but ok 👌
Your commentary is top-tier 😂

Welcome!
well as i make this comment there's 64k likes only 16k more to go!
You have some very nice setups and that's a great kit you got.
Thanks!
That crippled worker probably landed absolutely horribly, because they really CAN'T take fall damage due to the fact that like anything smaller than a squirrel can survive almost any fall mostly okay with bugs being pretty much invincible to falling due to their terminal velocity (the fastest they can fall naturally) being too low to cause any damage
I don’t know why this showed up in my feed but I’m so happy. Your commentary is Gold! 😂 Ive loled repeatedly and I’m not even half way thru. Thank you
