For alliance folks; Rolling a Night Elf warrior is a great idea! They get bonus movement speed when dead, which will make your many corpseruns so much easier ;P
night elf ghost run speed really an't all that, only works if dead and idea is to not die. if running ally Dwarf/gnome is the way to go, undead/tauren for horde (undead for the corpse eating skill, tauren for increased hp/str.

To those considering rolling a warrior, remember that you are only as good as the healers keeping you alive.
Some general tips for making healers like you:
>watch their mana bars in dungeons, don't pull when they are oom
>don't run out of their LOS when they are healing you
>be aware of the position of the dps, if one of those mongoloids pulls adds, the healer will get aggro from the new mobs fast
>make a macro, which announces when you pop your defensive cooldowns
>give your healer any extra consumables you might have picked up since you wont need mana potions
>compliment your healer when they do a good job
>ask your healer if they need help with any quests after the dungeon
>hold your healers hand
>tell your healer that their dresses look nice
>tell them that they are beautiful
>take your healers on dates
>kiss your healer on the lips
>marry your favorite healer

As a frustrated healer, I can attest that doing the first 6 things on this list is very rare and will be vary much appreciated.

1: make a warrior.
2: die a lot.
3: somehow make it to 60.
1 is easy
2 is automatic
3 is the true test
This is what I did. My Classic character was a warrior and I never knew anything else. I had no frame of reference to know anything else was easier.
4. has data pulled from private servers and is debunked by the community and blues.
4. MORTAL STRIKE ALL THE CLOTHIES!
Paper beats Rock. Scissors beats Paper. Scissors also beats Rock, until Rock hits 60 at which point Rock becomes an unstoppable killing machine, that also beats paper. And would beat Scissors, but it can't find Scissors, because Scissors are invisible.
Glad you included the Arms level spec. For anyone not looking to speed level I STRONGLY recommend it. Tactical Mastery is amazing for tanking dungeons, and protecting yourself from ganks (switching to defensive/shield when a rogue ganks for example) or even just taunting off an ally who you're partied with in world. Lovely talent. Plus the extra rend damage is really nice with the Hamstring method. I personally disagree with taking improved charge, as I value the extra parry for PvP but maybe that's a bit of overkill.
Couple of things id add. Remember warriors can use guns/bows! I strongly recommend picking this up as ranged pulls are very useful whilst levelling since double pulls often mean death! The first time I go to IF I'm always making sure I have 15 silver set aside for Guns and a gun/ammo - but as NE I guess you can get a bow early on
Write a list of city trips - levels you want to be training skills, and also a First Aid reference, what level you can get the next bandage, and where the nearest trainer to your zone is. Also (I think) at 125 you need the book from Stromgarde to continue levelling it and 225 I think the next upgrade is a quest starting on Theramore Isle? Either way look that up!
Don't fall for the WW Axe meme at level 30 on a fresh server. It's an iconic quest for sure , but requires farming level 37 elementals and a level 40 elite endboss. Without higher ranked players this just isn't going to happen. Sure, you can buy the tokens from the elementals from the AH if you're behind the curve, and beg in chat for help killing the boss...but kiss goodbye to your mount gold! My advice is skip it, and do the Alliance quest in Scarlet Monastery for Bonebiter.
Oh! And last of all, since grinding is tough, and slow as a warrior, and you're a tanking class, dungeons are an amazing way to get caught up on exp! Download Atlas and keep an eye on when you have dungeons coming up and gather the quests ahead of time. As a tank you should find groups quickly , and a full quest clear can really push your exp along nicely. As for early tanking tips, pull with a ranged weapon or face pulls on packs (you can charge single mobs and keep the rage in Defensive stance if you levelled arms) use Sunder Armour for threat and Vengeance whenever it is up and tab target. AOE pulls are hard, Demo Shout is the usual go to, but generally tab sunders and revenges, shout and taunt will see you throughe

One Sidenote, battlerage after the pull is actually a huge threatgain, multiples by the amount of Targets Hit. After the Initial Charge into shout u should stay in Defensive stance since U gain threat Levels Front that aswell.
I have always played fury dual wield for raiding and dungeons but I really would like to master tanking. I always had problems taunting multiple mobs especially when mages or ranged tags off the main burn. Warriors are really an enjoyable challenge when you get it right and a great humbler when you wipe the group.
Isn’t battle shout more threat for aoe than demo shoot?
There is a point to correct here : the /sit macro wont work on any enrage passiv available it was not a feature in vanilla and was corrected almost instantly it was find out.
Only private server keep that bug for conveniante purpose and its confirmed by blues
I hope more people are aware of this. His entire video is so much work but really like the sit macro doesn't work. It's better to go arms all the way with hamstring method.
Good! I am glad it doesn't. It just doesn't sit well with me (excuse the pun) that a warrior charge in to face his enemy/enemies, only to then sit like a a-hole to get hit (and crit-hit at that)! Just ridiculous. So the whole fury talent selection for leveling - based off of this non-existent mechanic is null and void. I actually wonder if it doesn't make sense to level as a prot warrior. Sure - it's slower but also safer. Dying and corpse-running is time-consuming and the repair costs will hurt as well. A prot warrior might even be able to take on more than one mob. Definitely going to try.
@@shtroizn It's been quite along while, but I remember having the same idea back in the day, the thing is that you kill mobs so slow that you actually end up loosing more life due to killing the to slowly, this also means more downtime/money speant on food to heal back up :(
@@teeatch1 I agree. I checked the forums and yes - Prot is very slow for leveling. That said - I truly believe everyone should just play what class and whatever spec they want to enjoy the game. Not everyone is in a race to be 1st. in this and that. End game is awesome but the journey imo is the main part of the game.

I find it odd people play anything but warrior, although I'm glad they do. I've never played anything else and always arms too. Since day 1 right up to legion

As a guy who leveled a warrior as a first char in vanilla, it's funny to see how "wrong" I did everything, but I see that specc wise it haven't changed a lot. Will probably do warrior again in classic, start of as tank and convert into DPS/offtank to change things up later. Warrior is so demanding, yet so rewarding.
You forgot to mention, the best way to lvl a warrior is: find a Priest 😅

FYI: The Crescent Staff from the Wailing Caverns quest is one of the best 2h weapons for level 20ish. Huge dps boost from previous weapons and +7stam +7spirit
Treating your attack speed, as reload speed is helpful. Attack speed implies that you would have to stand in melee range for the full duration of your attack speed, for an attack to trigger. In reality, the stated attack speed is your reload speed, while your true attack speed is instant. Ranged attacks are different however, they actually have an attack speed of 0.5 seconds. Be it ranged attacks from a warrior, Hunters auto attack ability or the usage of a wand.
But weapon speed increases swing dmg?
What a lot of guys forget is that Vanilla WoW was probably most peoples 1st mmorpg and the competitive mindset of min/making, bis items, knowing the meta mindset etc came from private servers/moba games/online competitive scene of gaming.
Having the private server mentality of knowing everything, following a certain pattern will affect the true original vanilla experience. For example now when I play online games be it mmorpgs or mobas I always learn the meta and the competitive side of the game firstly. This mindset didnt exist before because it was all about the unknown, forging your own adventure and learning on the way not knowing everything which created a lot of adventurous memories, the true vanilla experience was before the competitive side of mmorpgs/mobas/online gaming in general came into play or when meta awareness wasn't a thing at all. I'm not saying it is the right way to play because you cant go back in time and reverse and erase memory but the true vanilla experience is not just about "no changes" it is also about the innocence of a child stepping into a world not knowing anything about wow/online gaming/competitive gaming/meta game & stepping into the unknown!

I leveled a Human Female Warrior in Vanilla, and I honestly don't recall having a whole lot of problem unless I got more than 2 mobs on me, but it did take about 5-6 levels to get use to what she was strong and weak as before I was that comfortable. I actually remember getting to the point where I was intentionally pulling 2 mobs at once, because it seemed far more efficient than one at a time. Warrior is definitely a fun class, and a TON OF FUN to tank with... OMG do I miss tanking warrior in Vanilla!

Hey! Great guide, but there's a misconception in there regarding the Anger Management talent. I believe Monkeynews used the exact same wording, so you might have got it from him, but there is no "hidden passive in addition to 30% slower rage decay".
They wanted 30% slower rage decay outside of combat, and simply implemented this as 1 rage per 3 seconds, permanently. In combat, and out of combat.
Effectively, when in combat, that 1 rage/3 sec is pure, passive rage generation.
And, effectively, outside of combat, that 1 rage/3 sec slows down the regular, passive rage decay by negating it by 1 rage point per 3 seconds.
You explain this talent as if there are two effects in it, but there is only one single, super simple effect to the talent, that simply ends up having a seemingly different effect inside and out of combat.
Of course, the wording of the talent does not reflect this very well, though.

Improved Overpower in arms is the absolute god talent for fast levelling warrior. Yes it's RNG but with duel wield it doubles your enemy's chance to dodge, it's practically a guaranteed crit with huge bonus damage, near 1 shotting most standard mobs and combos perfectly with deep wounds and impale, the bleed finishing off normal mobs and overall incredible damage for elites too. Keeps you an exciting levelling proc and if you use 2h the numbers are massive.
The sit macro isn't going to work in classic. They announced that pretty early on. You won't be able to force enrage triggers in classic.

Re: Spirit, you can maintain a spirit set and utilise a gear-swap macro for when out of combat.

can we get an update to this guide seeing as Devs have confirmed that sitting in combat wont cause procs? I feel like this changes the play style that this guide suggests and might require some changes to talents.
Yeah I just tested that out and it's making me lose a phenomenal amount of health. Kind of a bust on the method which is unfortunate.
@@BillcosbyKNOWS Yeah like it gives a 'crit', but not an actual crit, Just a major blow in damage. Plus the hamstring method is almost useless in classic wow, So many enemies run so fast and have such long melee range its almost not worth it

Love the guide! One thing to point out - that I didn't see anyone in the comments do already - is that in your weapon progression you have Large Axe for level 4 characters however, you cannot unlock two handed until level 10! Great guide besides that though :)
About chain pulling and rage pooling. Your first mob is like your fodder mob use it to get around 40-50 rage and it will make the next couple mobs go down a little quicker. Also, and I haven't watched the whole video yet but I would very much recommend a warrior to level arms. Way less gear dependent. All you "really" need is a big slow hard hitting 2 hander. Also, what he said about grinding out mobs is so true. Find a spot where you can farm some mombs that drop coin and you'll be good to go.

I just started on Classic WoW a few days ago. I played the original WoW a while back but stopped playing at around level 20 and this time around has been basically like starting over and learning everything from scratch.
I picked a Warrior because I thought it represented my general play style in most other games. I like to be the heavy hitting, damage absorbing tank of the group, even on completely different games I always find a way to have the heavy weapon and be the guy who jumps into the boss, hits HARD, then jumps out before I die...then regenerate health, and go again.
But the first minute or 2 in I hear that warriors are the hardest to level and play! I've been playing about 2 days and am level 12, but I have found this version of the game a lot more grindy and difficult to level up, but much more rewarding when I finally do get that extra level. I noticed the mounts aren't available until a much higher level, and the Gryphon flight paths are few and far between, so it's been a lot of running around so far! I think that has been the one thing that I have got a bit annoyed with, but not enough to stop me playing.
Anyway I'm really enjoying it and I am sticking with my Warrior even if it is more work, I know it will be worth it when I get to where I want to be down the line. I can't wait to get in the Deadmines with him. I am lucky that my younger Brother is a veteran on both classic and retail WoW so he has given me a few good items to help me out, most helpful has been the huge extra bag space too! It really helps to have a knowledgeable person to ask questions and show you around a bit.
Anyway sorry for my dribbling on, this game has been a great time-waster during the endless isolation and staying indoors. Thanks a lot for the video I found it helpful and interesting, I learnt a few things too!
Warriors are tricky to level solo, but if you know what you're doing you gain so much importance as you join a group and everyone is gonna love you, kinda like priests.

Never had a problem when leveling my Warrior during Vanilla. Leveled easily didn't feel as slow and enjoyed every minute of it. Yes I remember getting a lot of love for leading groups through dungeons. Never ended up raiding as a Warrior in Vanilla (was my alt) maybe few times in ZG and MC but only minor bosses

As leveling on my mage, melee gets very confused for me giving them my int buff, tried to explain it's just courtesy if they're leveling up a weapon skill.

I can't believe I am so pumped for WoW Classic! So many quality-of-life improvements I am going to miss from the current live game, lots of grinding, bugs etc but the fundamentals are incredible in Vanilla compared to the current expansion (or almost any other expansion, for that matter).

"hamstring" method.. there is so many mobs around that will make it hell method.
One big tip for survivability if some of you dont already know. Dont be sloppy with your mobs. Theres some mobs that will sit there attacking you till they die... then there's those annoying mobs that run when they get to a certain health point. This can and will lead to more mobs aggroed and possibly you dying and you wasting time and gold that you dont want to deal with. Here's how you can change that.. that mob for the most part will run directly in the opposite direction he is facing. So if his buddy's are behind him and he gets low in health he'll turn around and run towards them. Instead, pull him a little more away from other mobs and get between him and his buddy's and YOU face a direction in which there are no other mobs behind the potential runner so he wont aggro more mobs. The worst part of low leveling is dealing with two mobs as a warrior. This will help a lot while leveling. Sometimes it's better to pull with a throw weapon then to charge in there. If you charge in there with a possible second mob close by then it's not worth dying for a little extra rage because you'll spend way more time and gold running back to your body and paying for repairs.

Yes, also, regenning 3% of your HP is not even in the same ballpark of worth it to take a crit to the face, especially over 6 seconds...

It's not even out yet, so don't expect EVERYTHING to be the same guys! They might mix it up a tad so just make sure you don't over prepare for a different turn out on this.
I saw a source say that your /sit macro will not allow you to get auto-crit in classic like it did in vanilla. Making those take-a-crit talent synergies in fury less reliable, and thusly, almost useless to take. I realize when this video was made, and that the classic beta basically just dropped... but just saying, you might need to update on that, or at least acknowledge the change so that people don't follow this and take near-useless talents.
The thing is, these are still the correct talents for leveling. Just not as good as in private servers. What else are you gonna use, improved cleave? Improved demo shout?

From what I remember from vanilla...
Max out fishing/cooking/first aid every few levels and stock up on materials. Run every dungeon like 5x as you go because without gear you suck. Level as fury until you get whirlwind axe then spin to win.
Also, you'll notice that you'll suddenly start getting like 10 auto attack misses in a row... walk backwards and it magically went away. /BLizzard
Having never played WoW until WOD, this video blows my mind. Classes seem so simple now compared to classic. Watching this makes me want to play a warrior when classic comes out, just for the challenge of it.

PRO tip: buy 4 silk packs from AH with your first gold. Right now they're being sold almost at vendor price (20s), you can pick them for 25s. They will increase your carrying capacity dramatically.
As warriors, we have to carry a lot of crap: 1h, shield, 1 stack food, 1 stack healing potions, ammo for the gun/bow, mining pick, stack of bandages, sharpening stones, stamina/spirit scrolls, STR potion, fishing pole, stack of buff food. That's 12 slots used, meaning your starter backpack is 3/4 full. You could ditch some of the equipment I mentioned, but then when you need it, you have to travel back to bank.
Fishing pole is very useful, you run out of food ... and YOU WILL, restocking is as close as any body of water. Doesn't have to be best food, but fish is free and is CLOSE. Mining pick - don't leave without it, mine ANY node you see, feed your engineering or blacksmithing and sell the metal if you don't need it. 10s per stack of copper is a good price for carrying a pick around.

a big thing to do at 51. get all of your AV quests and Q up. you can get most of the quests done in 1 BG and you get the Ice Barb spear. that thing will take you to 60. also it will get you started on your rep for AV. the faster you can get exalted the better. as a dps war it lets you buy the UF 2h mace and a good starter sword and board for off tanking.
Thunderclap's duration increase is really good for fighting/tanking multiple mobs. You're taking less damage from every target.
The /sit stuff apparently won't be working in classic, will you update this guide to reflect that?
Never had a problem leveling my warrior in classic. I'm level 54 now and switched to arms at 34 when i got whirlwind axe. Didn't even know about hamstring trick lol. I felt really dirty using a staff for 9 levels though. Fucked up and respec twice and didn't get mount till 47

Sweeping Strikes is a game changer when you hit 30. I don't understand why you wouldn't be doing arms at 30. Hamstring kite 2 mobs in a row. Build up 100% rage. Then sweeping strikes Cleave the next 2 mobs at the same time, dumping all rage. Rinse repeat. So fast this way.
Is Hamstring kiting working on Blizzs servers? Because it did not work in beta

Important note RE: Sitting - in the current build of classic, sitting as described above will not proc beneficial effects, however, if you time a jump to come out as you are being struck while sitting, for some reason it will work. This method will actually proc the beneficial effects no matter what the final outcome of the hostile mob's attack is - even if it's a "miss" the game will proc your beneficial effects because it thinks that you "definitely got crit" although the timing is tight
Tried it - while I do get crit every time, it doesn't seem to proc the effects every time.
@@Syngrafer practice makes perfect, like I said, the timing is super tight however it is absolutely repeatable.

Could you explain more about the professions? Why Skinning while leveling? What about the other primary profession?
I can anzer that, becuase as a warroir u are alwasy right next to the mob when it dies
Gathering professions like skinning are a good way to get some gold at the beginning, and warriors really need the extra gold for repairing, consumables and buying gear you might need.
You won't casually be able to pick up enough nodes/herbs etc to keep up with the required skill level as you move on to higher zones. It's better to work up these trade skills when you're max level with a mount. Skinning however you can do as you go with a rather small disadvantage and also gives a bit of coin.
@@54jb3r7 Unless you want to reach lvl 60 as soon as possible, as a warrior you will stay mob farming in most zones to reach an optimal lvl to move to the next zone.
I would absolutely love a Guide for leveling in a group. Im gonna level with my friend probably as arms enh and there is almoust no guide or content that talks about how to optimize leveling as 2.
Made an orc warrior November 23, 2004 and that was the only character I ever played until wotlk released so I can't relate to it being the hardest character to play but it did make classic and burning crusade feel like a very rewarding game!
Don't change weapontypes when you wanna hardcore lvl - raising a new weaponskill especially 2h weapons takes a long time.
Progression look fine for me if you for the 2h axe route which all horde should do. Also consider running dungeons - if you wanna rush to 60 for server first you won't do them and that cuts deep into your potential gear. lvl 3 vendor axe lvl 10 vendor axe lvl 14 quest axe from barrens lvl 17 quest axe from barrens and at 30 you wanna go with the vendor again because its nice and slow.

I think it is just for gold. Later levels I would change to blacksmithing and mining , but honestly it doesn't really matter too much.

I believe its auto attack macro baked into heroic strike, with auto attack being on your 24th spot on ability bar. however im not sure you need it, my /startattack works fine in classic

Not sure if you mentioned, but if you're leveling a warrior, run the Enrage talent and make a macro /sit . Use it every time youre in combat and you have a free enrage +frenzied craze pop. 100% crit chance taken when sitting :)

I played vanilla when it first came out, hunter and druid. Really wish I went warrior. They seem so much fun. Battlegrounds they're monsters and their tanking is legendary.
Probably will go human for the weapon skill for pve tanking. seems viable.
