Did you ever share why the class guides were taken down? Were you too critical on certain things or did blizzard just overreach (ala Nintendo) in protecting their IP?
Also most mmorpg doesn't use that type of system anymore, guild wars 2 your weapons decide your skills, ffxiv the class you have grinded gives you the abilities and profession (kind of like an advanced class, a gladiator turns into a warrior or a paladin) let you use some other basic class skils, elders online is kind like a multiplayer version fo skyrim. The problem is that the rpg gendre is everyday less rpg and more action based, the few rpgs that are more traditional lately are kind of anime style.
because a) the trees were getting too big b) it confused casuals c) alot of them felt boring (+1% damage etc) and d) perks do the job just as fine, but without the problems i mentioned
They removed talent points because it became unsustainable as the level cap went higher and higher. The level requirements for talents kept getting higher and higher. It was approaching the point where you would be able to max out multiple trees, if we had talents today you would be able to take them all. Then there are the poor unlucky hunters who fell behind in leveling. I put so much work into corpse dragging my way through multiple alliance cities to get the core hound from the dranai starting zone. I was level 59 when litch king dropped, poof gone. Exotics in the stable got saved, but pets you had active when the expac dropped just disappeared into the void.
@@Christopher_Gibbons wtf? that's not true at all. you only got enough points to max one tree (by that i mean reach the final talent), and then some spare points. in cata you couldn't even do hybrid specs, and they cut the number of talent points you get.
I'll never get why some "blizzard approved" youtubers can get away with showing private server footage but the other smaller channels can not. Great video as well again Kargoz.
Some great binds I use... for my mouse scroll wheel forward is pet attack and and scroll wheel backwards is pet return, it feels really freakin good, like a nice tether to your pet controlling it well, it just makes sense in my brain.
I thought of exactly this while watching the video too. I like the pet actions on the scroll wheel, and very narrow but powerful abilities on the 2 side mouse buttons. Stuff like pvp trinket or scattershot.
While Hunters are generally polarized one way or the other (no middle ground), while Leveling your #1 priority should be keeping your Pet alive. That means many points in BM to build out a proper Tank pet (even if it's a Cat). This will save you far more time than the small damage increase from the points you lost into improving your Pet's Health/Armor/etc.
Always set your dots and keep your pet moving. MM used to be great go viper, steady, arcane in that order. BM with a bear as the tank, always set your dots and work heals
Appreciate all your time and effort - I've been weighing up Warlock or Hunter (Which were my first 2 mains in Vanilla) but I've forgotten the experience since my old age :) This guide has helped me!
the guide is quite good, but some things are not for CLASSIC WOW, but for VANILLA WOW and that is a big difference. For example macros are not working in classic wow, because the "/script" is not allowed. This either needs an update, or a popup in video to point out what is not working in actual "classic wow"
I am considering rolling Dwarf Hunter as I did in the beginning. This guide is great. I needed guidance on the talent tree. I will return to this guide and appreciate you so much.
This is really good stuff Kargoz. I thought the production value was great. It was also super to the point with no fluff. You clearly know your stuff and have used the resources you're citing here.
I know this is more geared toward faster, more efficient leveling, but I go out of my way to buy all skills because I actually use them. Track beasts and track humanoids helped me look for quest mobs and rare spawns (such as the gnoll east of Northshire who drops an 8 slot bag). Same goes for Eagle Eye - I used it to track the spawn of a harvester golem in Westfall who drops a 10 slot bag. Eye of the Beast I have not used yet, but the point I am making is that I find practical uses all the time :)
I actually love to keep up with food and ammo its a meta game :) It can be anoying but its what hunters are all about. feed your pet keep it happy and get better ammo
you gotta get fishing and cooking, skinning and just go off kill some beasts skinnem, cook the meat fish some fish cookem feed yourself feed your pet. Best class of all time.
Great guide - note there is no reason to start with an auto shot though. If you start with an instant like Serpent Sting, your first auto shot fires with it and it does not delay the next one.
The lost art of the stutter step. They really made hunters easy to play later on. no min range, all range, no melee, no mana. It's a good refresher of just how much they changed the hunter class over the years.
Man, I literally watched the Warlock and Druid guide the night before they got taken down. I wanted to check them out again the next day, but literally couldn't find either of them. I seriously questioned if I had dreamed watching a class guide haha
Thanks Kargoz! I'm level 45 right now been following your talent build and guide so far, and been having a bunch of fun and making friends in game. Should hit 60 in a week or two.
Shame that the old guides were taken down, but your new format is great. I ended up liking this version of the guide more than the last even. Keep it up.
Hunter has always been my favorite class. My first ever character was a dwarf hunter, and my first real pet was an Ice Claw Bear I kept for 30 levels. This is an amazing guide, Kargoz,, I'll be sure to save this and look back into it when Classic launches. All of these guides are great!
It's bull-puckie that your other videos were taken down. I have never been a fan of speed leveling, but I am a fan of efficiency. One way I do this is with mouse over macros, especially on my healers. I am not sure yet how to do this in Classic, but my current macros combine 2 spells in one action bar slot. If help I heal/decurse/shield, if harm I cast a damage ability. And to take it a step further, I try to keep like cool down spells on the same macro, so I get use to how long it's down whether damaging or healing. Anyhow, more great content. Keep it up, and hope to see ya in the demo. I already took the day off work on Nov. 2 & 4. Oh yeah... I'm a big nerd! :D
Loved it! I would definitely train “Scare Beast” as it’s a huge ability in allowing you to solo tough elites in STV, Thousand Needles, Winterspring etc
+1. Question: Do you find hunters to be only good for pvp or decent for pve as well or just TranQ shot/Trueshot aura supporter? Such a joy to listen to your videos man. Calm, informative and the time/effort it takes you to make them for the community. As a 40yo man who also mained hunter ever since the open beta time but IRL (family, work etc) make me wounder what to do with my hunter that I will be maining for Classic. I did not raid that much as I focused alot more on the pvp aspect. Love the old AV and the class itsemf for pvp. Some say hunters just get worse as time goes and not really "that" good anymore once AQ/Naxx comes out. In one of the videos from our other great guy Tipsout when he interviewed Cadet who he considers to be one of the best hunters in the world how the class is in both pve and pvp, it is always interesting to hear others pov. Now, we are talking about (mmo)RPG after all so play what you want, is most fun to you that you will enjoy the longest is the main thing. So many in all online games today asking that same silly question "what is best X and Y" when they should focus on what I just said. Common sence. The more fun you have = more played = become better = better geared/rotations = less reroll chance etc
Hunters are strong early on, but their damage being fairly equipment agnostic means they have poor scaling. In Late AQ and Naxx you could go survival to bump your personal contribution up, but this might result in lowering overall raid dps if there isn't another hunter to cover Trueshot for everyone who needs it). You also MUST min-max the hell out of your Pet to ensure it does as much damage as possible and isn't dying all the time from avoidable stuff. And if you're using a Wolf to buff a melee group, make sure he's close enough that they get the bonus on every cooldown and that your raid leader has you in the right group.
@@ZanathKariashi As always, I appreciate replies so thanks. You are only talking about PvE and yes I do agree with you when it comes to AQ40/Naxx from checking many content creator vidz. I only raided up to ZG if I recall correctly and know how important it was to send your pet to the "melee grp" while you are considered as caster and nuked another mob/pack and try keep your pet alive as long a spossible. I see many threads and posts about PvE and/or high end game content. Back in the day my focus was PvP. But vanilla was much much more then just end game pve/pvp. For PvP they were a beast, so quite the other way around. Good geared hunters could 1 shot cloth ppl with aimed shot crits of 3k and such. So not only the classic "pom-pyro mage" thing. Loved my Nelf hunter for pvp. Standing melded and had a free opener/start on someone with aimed+multi before they even realized what's going on. I did play other classes as well, even on Horde side (other server ofc) and enjoyed some there too but in general my main was that hunter on (yeah I know filthy right?) ally side.
Easily the most useful hunter guide I've seen. One thing I recently saw though was spacing survival 1-25 and having more a "weaving" playstyle to make use of your +30% crit on raptor strike. Haven't tried it. Sounds interesting though.
We meet again old friend! Going to watch all class videos for classic fresh server until it comes out! I have been using these old guides since the beginning lol I happen to see one of your new videos today and I forgot that you aged as well lol First time seeing you outside of the look in your older videos which is what I watch.
Wow dude you really went through the process of explaining things clearly and effectively, best guy I've seen so far made me tryout a hunter, nice work!
Well, the stat prio here is agility, intellect, spirit, stamina, so I'd follow that gearing up. Just keep in mind 1 agility = 2 ranged AP. Aw,and somewhat obvious thing: Go for weapons with stats, not the procs.Choose agility, then AP.
Bruh, I am a calm ass person, but if I had a channel and TH-cam took down a bunch of my videos I would be mad as fuck. I commend you for just using that as an opportunity to improve your content. If more content creators were like you then TH-cam would be a better platform!
HYPE! Glad to see you still making these. Also, Id love to see a Rogue one. I am never quite sure what my rotation should be when leveing lets say, 1-10, 11-20, 21-30 and so on. Do I use snd or just combo till Evis. Everytime I get to around lvl 16 quests in Barrens I hit a huge road block with being able to kill things for quests. Mainly the Harpies.
Guide is fine for hitting max character level with some really nice tips about auto shot usage. I was just hoping to see more about traps, kiting techniques, and proper use of melee. I helped my friend level a hunter where all we did were orange/red quests together, it was like extreme hunter boot camp for him. Hunters become insanely funner the more you know.
Leveled a hunter to 60 in vanilla, and recently on Kronos 3. Two macros I found pretty sweet is feign death into frost trap, and one that swaps between aspect of the cheetah and hawk with one button push.
These are actually very informative and great guides! It seems to cover basically everything relevant and in a clear way. Definitely the go-to place for leveling guides. Thanks!
Lupos and Brokentooth isn't really an issue. Lupos' ability to deal shadow dmg and thereby ignore armor was removed relatively early in a classic patch rendering him useless. If they run on a 1.12.1 platform, he'll be useless even at launch. Brokentooth is really only for pvp, but even then it's not the best choice. There are other easy to get by pets with fast attackspeed under 1,5 so you don't have to get him. All viable pve pets are easy to get, mostly in dungeons and raids (ZG Raptor, LBRS wolf).
Awesome guide man. I'm a wrath baby and I have mained a hunter since then I plan on staying Hunter on classic as the class just means more to me than a class. Great guide and info and it's nice to see someone as passionate as me about the Hunter. Hope to see more Hunter info or gameplay in the future!
not sure hw far you are in but im also very new. there is another DPS cat called Rake to the east of Thunder bluff that is nearly as good as broken tooth that is worth getting. a cat with 1.2 attack speed. its actually a lion model which is cool.
I really enjoy your videos! Nice work. Especially the part with bow and ammo progression. You're doing just great! Every type of video (classes, zones and etc). And btw it'so nice you mentioned Raziya. If anyone interested he is an extremely skilled hunter and has a very good channel with tips&tricks for hunters. Absolutely recommend everyone to visit it.
Coming back to this with the HC resurgence. Glad to see it still here. Might opt for a few more survival talents in case I get in a sticky situation. Just recently got down to 13 HP at level 22. That was stressful!
For those who are planning to play hunter but never played vanilla or never played hunter in vanilla, then there's one thing to learn. Never pull with serpent sting or the tank will kick your ass :D Man i learned that in MC when after a few Baron Geddon pulls the MT yelled at me to not pull with that :D Also prepare to level up engineering cause you'll get the best ammo from it, and bombs, jumper cables, repair bots... But it's a fun class, you'll feel special along with the priest and warrior with your class weapons (bow and staff).
I liked target dummies and traps for soloing and multi mobs in dungeons. Send trap first. Oh, yea agree on serpent stings. I kept one bar for soloing and 1 bar for dungeons. Made many mistakes in dungeons. Look forward to meeting new WOW friends. Do not get lost in Auberdine and guildies have to send Shaman to find you for a dungeon run. lol
Great guide. Never played Vanilla back in the day but have on private servers so I am looking forward to my first "retail" vanilla experience! Night Elf all the way!
With new servers comming, I eant to try a Dwarf Hunter. I have my eyes on the gorgeous snow cats. Any other suggestions? Another mechanical Question: do any of the rare, elite tamable animals have special skills, stats or powers?
Ever since the fresh sever announcement, I was stuck between Warrior and Mage… and then I was like… screw it I’ll do Hunter for the 3rd time. The class never gets old
The Laminate bow you can buy at.. 11 i think? that one stuck with me for ages, so it was definitely a valued purchase. Sure there's spots to upgrade it, but there's so few that actually outright upgrade your dps without making you really go out of your way.
Awesome Video man. Having played WoW since Vanilla and primarily playing a Hunter I agree with 98% of what you said. However, personally, I find having to stock up on Ammo (And deciding 'what' ammo I want) and the keeping up with Pets (Again, choosing what Pet I want) to be a major part of the appeal for me. These were things we took for granted and when they were later removed the class felt entirely different. Personally, having the option to choose these things adds customization for me and makes the class and character feel more like 'my' character as opposed to a cookie-cutter build. All in all good video though mate, just figured I would throw my two cents in there.
when going BM i still start out with 5/5 improved concussive shot..... being able to chance stun/root a mob at level 15-20 or interupt a cast before getting intimidation at lvl 30 is massive for survivability
Thanks for the info!! I started playing WOW wayyy back right after BC came out...I did manage to level a BE hunter to level 70. No idea what build of talents I used back then...will be fun rediscovering it.
I love the hunter played him when i was 4 untill i was 11 (quited on him in mop cuz i got my own account) So this guide will help me in classic :) thnx
Probably tailoring and Skinning. they're both pretty self-sufficient and you won't have to go out of your way to level them, and you'll be able to make your own bags, and bags above 8 will be one of the few items that people are willing to buy while leveling until people start rolling alts, since a better bag pays for itself.
@9:03 You have a splash screen with Focus Dump pets, and mentions the skill Gore. What the heck is gore? The boars listed don't come with this ability, most of them just have Charge. They can learn _Bite_ later though. Was Gore a skill that they later removed, and forgot to put back in Classic? I started playing WoW at the end of BC, so yeah.. Also, I believe the Hickory Shortbow was not available - I already had a hunting bow (8-16 2.60spd) by this point though, so no loss

Talent points are the best thing ever, I will never understand why they removed this..
Because they're lazy fucks that want your money with minimum effort. Aka, typical millenials.

Regards to gear, it should end with "of the falcon" for agi and int stats. Maybe you could add this in your presentation? :)
Not even watched the video yet, but like and appreciative comment is a must! Keep doing this great content dude!
Great vid, as always.
Here's hoping these videos don't get taken down this time
And another great and informative video. Sorry for the vids you had to take down :(
Kargoz how the hell are you posting videos so fast!? They're all top notch quality, there's no way.
Bruh, I am a calm ass person, but if I had a channel and TH-cam took down a bunch of my videos I would be mad as fuck.
I commend you for just using that as an opportunity to improve your content. If more content creators were like you then TH-cam would be a better platform!
Awesome guide brother, best classic wow channel out there by far, can't wait for classic to come out and live the great adventure with you guys
You put so much work into these guides and it shows. Thank you for making these. They're excellent.
Just the music engulfs me and brings me back to simpler days.
Thanks for this. Will be very useful on leveling my hunter again. I didn't remeber some things from vanilla and this cleared my mind. Keep it up!!!
These macros do not work in classic. They keep returning an error that the blizzard UI won’t allow it or something like that. Any help would be nice!
Keep pumping out this amazing content, my friend. I bet you'll see a big uptick in traction as we get closer to Classic release.
Leveled a hunter to 60 in vanilla, and recently on Kronos 3. Two macros I found pretty sweet is feign death into frost trap, and one that swaps between aspect of the cheetah and hawk with one button push.
Wait..... why did they take them down??? 😤😤😤😤
yeah wtf happend?? Kargoz please fight this

Hey Kargoz, what type of pets do you recommend getting for a Tauren? I am currently level 10 and not sure what to get.
Great video, very helpful!
All viable pve pets are easy to get, mostly in dungeons and raids (ZG Raptor, LBRS wolf).
dude, your effort is freakin awesome keep up the good work, much love!!
I just started wow classic and Im having a blast! Its my first time in wow and this guide is really helpfull best in youtube
not sure hw far you are in but im also very new. there is another DPS cat called Rake to the east of Thunder bluff that is nearly as good as broken tooth that is worth getting. a cat with 1.2 attack speed. its actually a lion model which is cool.
Thanks for the awesome content Kargoz! Any chance on getting a leveling guide for Shaman as well? =D
Oh shit, so hyped for the Classic Wow :D the background music gives me Nostalgia :D
Companion Codex is now returning an error, btw.
Just clicked on it, and it sent me to a malware infested site. Should have read the comments.
Hey, will you cover all classes? like shaman? :) thx. :):) keep the work up!
Just curious if you're planning on a paladin leveling guide. I'd love to watch it.. Not sure healing will be viable till late 50s..
Never pull with serpent sting or the tank will kick your ass :D
Man i learned that in MC when after a few Baron Geddon pulls the MT yelled at me to not pull with that :D
Also prepare to level up engineering cause you'll get the best ammo from it, and bombs, jumper cables, repair bots...
Do not get lost in Auberdine and guildies have to send Shaman to find you for a dungeon run. lol
So the autoshoot macro is not working for me because of "Force Taint Strong" blabla Blizzard UI. Anybody have the same problem?
Learning by the master himself before the competition!
Great guide. Never played Vanilla back in the day but have on private servers so I am looking forward to my first "retail" vanilla experience! Night Elf all the way!
Excellent video. Can't wait to see if those macros will work in demo
gz on 20k very well deserved man
8:56 the linked website 'companioncodex' isn't working.
Great video man 👍🏻 from a veteran hunter player myself, your spot on ❤️ i hope to see your Channel boom within the next year 😉
I really appreciate all of this new Vanilla Content coming out!
I'm also considering hunter this time, because I always played only warr or pala.
Keep it up, great stuff! Hopefuly comes in handy when the classic starts.
The class never gets old
holy shit man thanks for your tips, macros and all the stuff you have explained in this video. The presentation is flawless. Thanks a lot sir.
The Laminate bow you can buy at.. 11 i think? that one stuck with me for ages, so it was definitely a valued purchase.
Sure there's spots to upgrade it, but there's so few that actually outright upgrade your dps without making you really go out of your way.
PS - love the background rain and music - such great nostalgic audio
I definitely think your guide here holds up pretty much just as well in Burning Crusade & Wrath of the Litch King
i know
no one cares but when this was uploaded it was only 4 days left untill my birthday
happy birthday
No idea what build of talents I used back then...will be fun rediscovering it.
coming back stronger!!!! I love it!
Was that green cloak that the dwarf wears in the thumbnail ever possible to get? Or was it just an aesthetic for advertising WOW?
I love the hunter played him when i was 4 untill i was 11 (quited on him in mop cuz i got my own account) So this guide will help me in classic :) thnx
Would you recommend leveling any professions at all, when aiming to go for 60 fast on the new servers?
kvltvs as a hunter just skinning man :)
Probably tailoring and Skinning. they're both pretty self-sufficient and you won't have to go out of your way to level them, and you'll be able to make your own bags, and bags above 8 will be one of the few items that people are willing to buy while leveling until people start rolling alts, since a better bag pays for itself.
im so exited man...
this is the best guide ive seen. However it isnt comprehensive because the macros section is a little light
Your warrior guide was really helpful please upload again. How do you get a strike it's within fair use?
If you don't mind my asking, why were the other ones taken down? Was it the same reason you can't show in-game footage?
