So Miyazaki actually did an IGN interview 2 hours ago that stated that the Land of Shadow, where we travel to is completely separate from the Lands Between, its an entirely new place with its own map. Its the same universe as Lands Between but it is not a part of it, there will be a new map!

It's a shadow realm of the Erdtree. Messmer is likely the Lord of that realm, and the voice that said they arent saints, they're part of a losing war may refer to miquella and godwyn

@@treymtzThe thing is the player in the trailer uses the wings while holding two twinblades and no casting tool, which would imply it’s an ash of war. However it’s also possible the player could’ve been using a special twinblade that lets you cast incantations.
The lake looks like it could be death blight, and the field of blue flowers gives off a shrine of Amana look to it. All in all, super hyped for this DLC. The color palette chosen is super pretty too. Can't wait to see what all it has in store this June.
Blue Dancer, has the flowing sword move set from the cs found in consecrated.

There is going to be something insane when this comes out. Think about it; Orphan of Kos in BB was never shown in any trailer or marketing for the Old Hunters DLC, people got him as a nasty surprise for the last boss. Who knows what we are going to fight, the thought of something harder than Malenia waits for us on June 21st frightens/excites me

I think the background music in this trailer is one of the boss OSTs from the dlc
they've done this with the Dark Souls 1, 3, and Bloodborne dlcs before

Man, this is SO great, everything about it, you are one of my new favorite youtubers, I watch almsot every video, I've seen all your FromSoft playthroughs, and I've been waiting for Shadow of the Erdtree just like everyone else, FromSoft has meant a lot to me for many years now, and I preordered the Collector's Edition almost immediately, I've never even got a Collector's Edition of anything before, but this game means so much to me I had to. I love everything about this, I'm so hype and happy to share the hype and future experience with you, plus the STATUE IS FIRE 🔥

That bit at 11:14 seems like some kind of Miquella-specific incantation. It's got butterflies, which are associated with Miquella and Melania, but it seems to inflict sleep magic specifically, which Miquella was studying/practicing before going into his coccoon.
That red-haired guy is super interesting (Messmer). They've got some kind of flame magic akin to the Giant's Flame, but he's also got a snake in tow, and in the statue they're also hunched over on the spear like Melania's Cleanrot Knights, and there's even dragon imagery on the armor and weapons. It's like they're trying to combine every force that has ever opposed the Erdtree into a single unified force. His name "Impaler" suggests that I should start studying Vlad the Impaler before the DLC comes out.
I think this Shadow World is connected with dreams. Worlds that exists exclusively in dreams is a bit of a trope in fantasy media, so there's that, but also those veils strongly remind me of the Queen's Bedchamber in the base game and the Baldachin's Blessing, which depicts a bed covered in veils. There's something to do with Deathblight here as well, since a) there seems to be a Deathblight Swamp, b) Miquella was trying to study Deathblight at some point, and c) the Shadow Erdtree has the Deathblight colors. Godwyn is described as being asleep in the Erdtree because of the Deathblight and is infecting the Erdtree and all of the Lands Between, so this Shadow World was probably created as a result of the Deathblight, and so is inherently connected with the concept of sleep.

HYPE!!!!!! Also I've suggested this a few times, but you should check out some of the other fromsoft trailers specifically the Old Hunters DLC trailer and the Elden Ring launch trailer, those were just as hype as this one back in the day. Can't wait for the playthrough brother!
