About the game:
Ludwig, The Accursed is a Boss in The Old Hunters Expansion for Bloodborne. He was also the founder of the Healing Church Workshop, and first hunter of the Church. He is also known under his official title; Ludwig, The Holy Blade, and adopts this title in the second phase of his fight.
Bloodborne is a 2015 action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 4. Bloodborne follows the player's character, a Hunter, through the decrepit Gothic, Victorian-era-inspired city of Yharnam, whose inhabitants are afflicted with a blood-borne disease. Attempting to find the source of the plague, the player's character unravels the city's mysteries while fighting beasts and cosmic beings.
The game is played from a third-person perspective. Players control a customizable protagonist, and the gameplay is focused on strategic weapons-based combat and exploration. Players battle varied enemies while using items such as swords and firearms, exploring different locations, interacting with non-player characters, and unravelling the city's mysteries. Bloodborne began development in 2012 under the working title of Project Beast. Bearing many similarities to the Souls series of games by the same developer and director, Bloodborne was inspired by the literary works of authors H. P. Some criticism was directed at its technical performance at launch, which was improved with post-release updates. An expansion adding additional content, The Old Hunters, was released in November 2015. By the end of 2015, the game had sold over two million copies worldwide. Bloodborne won several awards and has been cited as one of the greatest video games ever made. After editing this video, playing back the fight and listening to the OST all day today I have come to the conclusion that this is in fact my new favourite Bloodborne Boss to date… Also, I take back what I said about the boss room, that thing is heavy metal af and I can’t wait to learn more about it through either you guys or when we react to lore videos. Dont consume umbilical cords if u want to get al endings with one character,if u consume them now and choose to play new game + u will get the same ending since ur character has consumed umbilical cords ..
@@valentinibori9514 there is a way to back up the save and do all endings but true the chords would have to be last.
@@valentinibori9514 I don't think that's true, consuming them won't carry over to ng+. I have done all endings with one character and I consumed the umbilical cords in ng.
You need to go to the hunters dream and then go back to the Boss room to talk with Simon again.
@@florianhuzsvar true i don't think its an issue with ng+ but you can definitely do all endings on ng if you want with a backed save.
Bloodborne was my first game in the souls series and Ludwig was in a league of his own. While fighting him I finally understood bloodborne and why it already has a place among the most legendary games of all time.

A not very well known fact is that when you are just about to kill Ludwig, he will usually stagger and give you the option to visceral attack him. Because of this, he has two death animations, one reacting the visceral attack, and one not reacting to the visceral attack. If you don't kill him with a visceral attack, he dies screaming like he does in his first phase - like a beast. If you visceral attack him, he dies with a far more human sounding noise. Essentially, by killing him with a visceral attack you are granting him a honorable death, whereas the other you are treating him as a beast.
Another fun fact is that in his second phase he's no longer considered a "beast" enemy, so serrated and fire damage don't do as much damage to him.

Great episode! Ludwig's weapon (the moonlight sword) is the staple From Software weapon in all their games. Ranni gives you the moonlight sword at the end of her quest in elden ring.
Ludwig remembering himself, his duty, his guide through violent hunts, madness and blood, and bringing it all together for a monster turned knightly hero. It's incredible. We had no idea when the moonlight GS would show up but it was worth it.

@Loran Morningstar There are other playthroughs where players die several times to Ludwig using the saw cleaver, maybe check them out. Just because he beat this boss easily from experience you came up with an excuse ? His damage is also high due to him having good gems installed rather than the weapon. And yeah saw cleaver is a strong weapon but there are even more overpowered weapons like the whirlgig saw.

Congrats. Since you've killed Malenia you've become a Fromsoftware God in the older games. You aren't overlevelled man. When Bloodborne came out it Ludwig was a level of difficulty no Fromsoftware game had reached before. Nowadays though, bosses have become harder and harder, so it might seem like Ludwig is easy now but back then, this was insanely hard.

@@berryamv2296 disagree though had more issues with Ludwig than living failures that i completed nearly first try every time ive fought them. Spoilers below:
You can take your time with the living failures plus the meteor attack only comes from 1 direction so you can just use the massive sunflower as a shield from that and still even whack more of the bosses hp away at the same time.

Slightly interesting note: That white robed woman shooting blue bolts at you was Vicar Amelia, she even prays to the same type of statue (worshipping Laurence) and mutters the same words. And when you saw what you thought was the Grand Cathedral in your Ebrietas episode, you were right, it actually was, and upper cathedral ward was there the whole time, just letting you know now cause you might ask the same thing when you see something oddly similar to Grand Cathedral in the Nightmare.

it's not confirmed to be amelia, it wouldn't make much sense for her not to be in beast form in the nightmare
Fun fact: his sword is a recurring theme in FromSoft's games as well - big Moonlight Swords that shoot projectiles have been a thing in most of their games: from Kingsfield, Armored Core, the Souls games, and the Darkmoon Greatsword from Elden Ring is the newest version of it
I love the little detail in his phase transition that his sword obscures the less-human half of his face right at the end
Perhaps the people that hyped up Ludwig played against him on NG+ where some of his attacks kill on one hit and his HP is much higher. Sick boss for sure. Love the series!
It's so awesome to see a person react to Ludwig and his music for the first time. He's one of my favorite Bosses and I'm glad to see you enjoy it. Btw 3 or 4 TRIES. He is one of the hardest bosses in the game and you beat him that quick. Dang the skills

I found the lantern after i beat ludwig... Got pretty good at dodging every enemy up to him .... *cries* im much better at paying attention to my surroundings now I've played several fs games.

Ludwig is probably my favourite boss ever, not just in a fromsoft game but in any game I've played, and the same goes for the music too. Everything about the design and everything just works and fits perfectly, especially the very fanservice-y re-introduction of the moonlight greatsword, which has been a recurring weapon in fromsoft games for at least a couple decades now. He even changes mechanically when he enters phase 2, e.g. serrated weapons like the saw cleaver do more damage against beasts but he loses his beast status in phase 2 when he regains some sanity!
You did really well against him, you're not overleveled! Most people I've seen take well over 15-20 attempts!
Ok, finally some tips; you have access to the best/easiest blood vial farming in the game, the Eric Andre meme guy that dropped 5 vials outside Ludwig's boss room can be farmed and he drops 5 every time. Also, I don't know if it seems like a weapon you're gonna be using but try holding L2 for the transformed form of the Pizza Cutter!

On my first playthrough, Ludwig was my hardest boss so kudos to knocking him out so quickly! I honestly think you play this game better than I do. Lol
I managed to beat him in two goes during my second playthrough, but by then I had experience. The FINAL boss of this DLC, however...
Something not really explained in the game that you've experienced resulting in you asking what is happening is that large enemies like Cleric Beast, Vicar Amelia, Darkbeast Paarl, Amygdala, One Reborn, Ebrietas and now Ludwig is that you can break their limbs, crippling them and allowing you to deal increased damage. Congrats on the win F to Ludwig, truly a tragedy.

Ludwig is basically this game´s Malekith. There is also an equivalent of Mohg and Malenia later on in the dlc, but no spoilers.
Spoiler: The Mohg of this game would be Lady Maria, and Orphan of Kos being Malenia. People like to compare Maria and Malenia a lot, but Maria is much more fair, balanced, and more smilar to Mohg than she is to Malenia with her blood theme, and the MASSIVE delayed attacks. While Orphan shares Malenia´s agression and ability to cause an aneurysm to anyone going against it.
Glad to see new people getting into this masterpiece, Ludwig's lore is very tragic and the fights music is amazing!

Vermin are what Valtr wants you to hunt down. He’s the guy you met near the elevator in the Forbidden Woods that had you join a league. There’s only 5 of them in game and you have to have the Impurity rune equipped for them to drop so make sure you don’t take it off until you find all 5. When you do find them all you can take them back to Valtr and finish his quest which will get you one of the most bad ass arcane weapons.
How many years have already passed, but I still get goosebumps from this music.

I‘m stunned, beating Ludwig at Level 76 this easily... it almost looked like you knew exactly how to dodge every attack (not implying you looked the fight up or anything). There are videos of streamers dying like 60 times to Ludwig. You‘ve become very good at this.
Here‘s an idea: what about doing a PVP session after you beat the game, you against the community? Would be a lot of fun I think.

Everytime the second phase start and song turns, bro! Chills literally chills! Also, nice gaming defeating Ludwig, a lot of other people who played or streamed the game have a lot of trouble with him, the saw cleaver and the fire paper are a good choice to fight beasts, and that proves you're getting better at the souls games too, keep going.

Saw cleaver does 20% extra damage against beasts, and you set it on fire too (beasts are weak to fire)

Good old Ludwig got me goood… Took me hours of trying and ended up asking another Hooonter to help out, together we got him first try lol. It was the first and only Boss I asked for help, I don’t know, I couldn’t beat him lol.
Definitely level up the Pizzacutter and please take a closer look at your Bloodgems, you can add elemental effects like fire to weapons! Also do more chalice dungeons, they are full of some of the best Bloodgems AND different Weapon Variations that hold different types of Bloodgems for even stronger upgrades!
For one of the upcoming bosses I habe a video of me fighting it with an Arcane hybrid build. It shows what some of the tools can do if you’re interested just watch it after you fought the boss haha.
Dude, I've been absolutely loving every single second of this Bloodborme series. Made me go back and turned this game on again for like, my 150th time lol. What's the next game you're gonna do after this is done with?

Hat's off, taking Ludwig down on your third attempt! You have no idea how long it took me to even reach his second phase. Having played Elden Ring before, especially fighting Malenia and Maliketh might have helped, but still... It's really fun watching you play Bloodborne the first time as it makes me relive the moments of surprise and awe on my first playthrough. Looking forward to the next bosses getting slain the Gago way 🙂

Yeah man Ludwig's a beast of a boss. I stupidly went into new game + before having the DLC and he was super annoying but in a wierdly fun way. The music is a masterpiece like a lot of tracks from Bloodborne. It's always good to see people having fun with the hard ones cause learning them through trial and error is a great feeling.
Starting a new game, NG+ with the dlc is just too hard. I have ludwigs holy blade fully upgraded and I'm taking so much damage from one hit, the weapon is doing so little against him so I decided to just start a new game and continue with the dlc

I don't mind you being a bit overlevelled: the infamous "super hard DLC" comes from the fact that most people discovered the DLC as they had finished the games so they played it at least on NG+1 and Ludwig on NG+ is super tough, but like you I didnt think Ludwig on regular game was that hard (but he is in fact one of the best bosses from FromSoft ever); on the other hand, two bosses from this DLC (the last one and the optional one) are quite tough regardless (but still manageable on regular game and since you levelled well and regularly you'll do ok)
yeah it really makes a big difference if u play the dlc on ng+. the problem is if u do the dlc before the last boss. u are over leveled for it. if u do it early u get overleveled for the base game. the dlc is really meant to be played on ng+.

I highly, highly recommend putting 8 levels into arcane so you can use the new sword, it is a fantastic weapon even for a quality build
Not really. It is actually a pretty mediocre weapon, just super cool.

@@psychotropictraveler514 Splitdamage generally isnt as good exept on very high level builds. Any normal weapon with elemental infusion does way more damage with an arcane build. A simple sawspear or just the normal Ludwigs with a fire gem is far more effective for example and thats the case for most weapons. Also the HMS takes a lot of stamina. It just requiers a shit load of stats to be good and then other weapons would still be better.
Ofc its still playable and as i said its super cool but it really isnt a top tier weapon.
The Sword that Ludwig was using in the 2nd phase is the Darkmoon Greatsword from Ranni's Questline. Every Soulsborne game has a version of it except Sekiro.
