About the game:
Elden Ring is a 2022 action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware. It was directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki with worldbuilding provided by American fantasy writer George R. R. Martin. It was published for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 25 in Japan by FromSoftware and internationally by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Set in the Lands Between, players control a customizable player character on a quest to repair the Elden Ring and become the new Elden Lord.
Elden Ring is presented through a third-person perspective with players freely roaming its open world. The six main areas are traversed using the player character's steed Torrent as the primary mode of travel. Linear, hidden dungeons can be explored to find useful items. Players can use several types of weapons and magic spells, including non-direct engagement enabled by stealth mechanics. Throughout the game's world, checkpoints enable fast travel and allow players to improve their attributes using an in-game currency called runes. Elden Ring features an online multiplayer mode in which players join through cooperative play to fight bosses or engage in player versus player combat.
FromSoftware wanted to create an open-world game based on Dark Souls. Miyazaki admired Martin's previous work and hoped that his contributions would produce a more accessible narrative than those of the company's earlier games. Martin was given unrestricted freedom to design the backstory, while Miyazaki was lead writer for the in-game narrative. However, the game's narrative is still presented through flavor text, dialogue, visual narrative, and players' interpretations. The developers concentrated on environmental scale, role-playing, and the story; the scale required the construction of several structures inside the open world.
Elden Ring won several Game of the Year awards and has been cited as one of the greatest games of all time, with praise directed towards its open world, gameplay systems, and setting, despite criticism for its technical performance. It sold 25 million copies, also making it one of the best-selling games of all time. The downloadable content Shadow of the Erdtree follows the player character solving the mysteries of the Lands of Shadow. It was released in June 2024 to similar acclaim.

I don't get how most people just don't seem to notice the music in games overall. They're a huge part of how you experience the game, especially with fromsoftware's bosses ost's

Honestly a very fun boss. Started a new main game before DLC and it was rough after not playing for so long. Jumping straight into the DLC after not playing maingame for years can be difficult

Another non-spoilery tip: The shades that are carrying a sparkling pot on their head are this game’s scarab beetles. Most of them have Scadutree Fragments.
I have already slain a few bosses and didn't know this. I should have suspected something was up when one of them just disappeared while i was fighting a golden knight 💀

Yeah 1:37:40 "What's the point?" I kinda died inside, not gonna lie 😂. The world is incredible and the smaller dungeons are amazing and worth exploring for sure. I'm glad he switched it up.

Not sure if you found out yet, but there were production issues with the art book so it’s being delivered separately at not additional cost according to the email from Bandai I received
You can buy a lantern from the merchant in the southwest side of the Weeping Peninsula; it's bright enough for most dark areas so you can avoid dedicating a weapon slot for a torch.
I love how the first chest Mati is like “this gonna be a trap?!”. See From Software have destroyed our trust in chests for years now!
They trained us like we are dogs. If i see a chest imeadiatly think its a mimic. If i see an item easy to get imeadiatly think theres an enemy right in the corner. Theres an enemy bending their ass to you, you better think that someone will appear from behind and shove a spear in your ass.

personally I got spoiled on the boss before the DLC even released because of the leaks, I was convinced the leaks were fake, so i just saw the name of the boss, but avoided watching the video in case it was real.
@@okami9039 I opened one unrelated comment on a spoiler free YT video and someone already called it out. I'd just started fighting the Lion Dancer and was piiiiissssed. But it is what it is I guess. My fault for not going dark on social media.
The best open world map design ive ever experienced. It is not even close. The layers, the way things intertwine and i still have like half to explore.
I’d recommend that if you want to survive more than two hits, you ought to take of Radagon’s soreseal/scarseal because it increases the damage you take, then put on either the dragoncrest greatshield which will significantly improve your physical defense, or the Great Jar Arsenal which would allow you to wear heavier/stronger armor. But anyways, amazing to see you play the DLC!! I first watched your Elden Ring playthrough and have watched nearly every series you’ve done since, I hope you enjoy this DLC, out of all the Souls DLCs, this one is by far my favorite, so good luck! :)

I didn't watch any other Shadow of the Erdtree gameplay just so I could get the full first experience here. FromSoft rarely misses with DLC, so I can't wait to see what they've cooked up with this one.

Small tip. let the soreseal go. it makes you take more damage.
Hey man, dunno if my comment is late or anything, but I haven't seen anyone else mention it, so I thought I should. One of the bigger reasons that you're taking SO much damage is the soreseal talisman that you have equipped, it really reduces your damage negation stats. and at level ~150 or more, especially for the dlc and how they work, those defense reductions are really not worth the trade, its better for lower level play. you would be much more resilient and survive much more encounters if your physical defense were higher, so equip the dragon defense talisman. or takers cameo for that extra healing that keeps you going when exploring the map. also, final tip. equip morgot's rune, consume a rune arc and be amazed at how much harder it is for them to kill you. I constantly waver between admiration of your playstyle (no shields, no bows) and embarrassment (throwing yourself into fights without looking around, rushing through areas without exploring more carefully). But regardless, it's always fun to watch your videos. Ever since you told us about your spider phobia, I am emphatic. But you also know how it is with Schadenfreude: your pain, our gain (sorry). Just one thing: if you don't start using the hand lantern to bring light into the dark, I pray THAT YOUR MESSMER'S HEAD FALLS OFF!" Praise the sun!

Don't worry Mati, your artbook is coming! They had supply issues and they're shipping them as soon as they're available. Happened to a bunch of us.
You're missing two flask potency upgrades (sacred tears) so you'll definitely want to go back to the base game to get those. All sacred tears are found in church locations.

Yo Mati i would recommend you take off the radagons soreseal. The extra stats aint worth the extra damage you will take from it since everything hits like a truck in this dlc lmao. Love the vids as always👍🏻😂

@matiasgago I'm on ng+++ so I am getting my arse handed to me with some of the strong regular enemies and I have let the occasional profanity out... btw that's some poor luck encountering scorpions so soon 😂😂 Try exploring to the south west of the 2nd Miquella rune before the 1st set of stairs just after the giant arch leading to Belurat, and also south of the first grace you arrived at in the small forest/woods and beyond 👍👍
Mati, you are by far my favorite Souls game TH-camr. You are fun to watch and your pure excitement and positive attitude towards these games and overall is the most fun to watch. Glad your back and can't wait to see you through the rest of the dlc!

I don't know if you eventually figure it out but you need to enable the "mark new items" and "show recent items tab" options in the system settings in order to actually get them. It's actually the first sentence in the tooltip at 3:51 but most people miss it.

Fun fact: the worm's "hair" attack is actually it puking its digestive system onto you. Several real-world oceanic creatures do this as well.

I've started my FromSoft journey last year and I've been enjoying watching your playthroughs right after I finished each game. But now I'm ahead of you and it feels surreal :D
But I have to say, Mati, you didn't go through the entire FS library and become a souls veteran to end up Mimic tearing these bosses. *You* can do it! As did I. Remember those gargoyles from DS1? You struggled, you had Solaire's sign right outside that fogwall but you took on the challenge and did it yourself! And then you did it for every other tough boss in the trilogy. _Don't give up, skeleton!_

hah he was definitely the most epic and visually pleasing boss ever, but hot damn is he a mess to fight. with the chicken posture cant even go through him 😂
Also mati, i saw u level up the greatsword of solitude to +10 but they're a limited amount of max dragon stones, both smithing and somber so I would suggest not leveling up any more all the way unless you like it/fits with you build. Save a max somber dragon stone for a certain spear from a certain impaler... 😉

Subbed a few days later, loved the content. Insane feeling to see you back in Elden Ring, WE'RE BACK BABY. also just a little side note, it's worth reading all the Miquella's Crosses since some of them say different stuff. I've seen a lot of complaints in the community about the DLC boss designs being unfair, but I truly just don't see it (except the final boss though lol). I think these are some if the most interesting and well-designed bosses they've ever made. Excited for you to experience them

Don't remember how many runs with the Blackgaol Knight, but I do remember hating him very much! Dancing Lion was my 1st main boss as well, it was 4-5 hours for me, setting a pretty disconcerting tone for the many bosses to come! The lion can actually do one more thing - quickly alternating from lightning to tornado then to frost in one smooth move set, pretty sick!
I'm not sure, but aren't a couple of those Talismans making you take more damage?
The fact that Dancing Lion is the first boss in the DLC and is like harder than 90 percent of the base game bosses is insane 😂.
Finally on the dlc and getting to watch! Didn't want anything spoiled lol.

YES, the Dlc is Fromsoftware's best yet. Try to avoid Spoilers at any cost
No shame in using mimic to beat these dlc bosses if it comes down to it, they’re incredibly tough! I feel like they’re worth giving a try without summons to begin with, but if you’re hitting a brick wall and it’s becoming unfun, no shame in it tbh. It seems a lot of these bosses were designed with summons in mind, they are very hard to do without spending hours and hours on each boss. Anyway, excited to see more and hope you have a great time with the dlc!
Mati turn on the recent tabs and newely aquired items in your settings, very helpful for new gear and checking out item descriptions, saved me tons of time

If I may just give you a few tips (spoiler free):
- Always wear the best armors and gears, they can make the difference.
- you missed two or three important items in the dungeon
- also, there are a couple of secret areas with useful stuff
- remember that it's an open world: if a boss is too strong, maybe it's for later
- take it slow, as you would say "it's a marathon, not a sprint"
- and finally, please, please, please, use a lantern 😂

trick to defeating big fire boy : hit him till he staggers when he staggers and falls to ground one riposte will takelike 70 -80 % of his health you will not make good damage to his leg no matter how much you level up

Great finale! So awesome to see you back in Elden Ring. This DLC is no joke (I’m on the final boss now ). Don’t sweat using the mimic or any tools at your disposal. Melania isn’t the top end difficulty in this one- she’s more like the standard.

You might want to unequip that soreseal. While it gives you stat boost it also increase the damage you take and in the dlc it is already high as you felt it.

Some defensive options should help with the dlc.
Dragoncrest Shield Talisman (17% Physical Dmg Negation)
Ritual Shield Talisman (reduces damage taken by 30% when HP is at maximum)
Great Jar's Arsenal (raises maximum Equip Load by 19%) can help with wearing heavy armor.
Also wearing armor with dmg high resistances (like Radahn's Armor Set) also helps!
You can use Opaline Bubble Tear (Increases all damage negation types by 90% for 3 minutes or until hit) and Opaline Hardtear (Increases all damage negation types by 15% for 3 minutes) on your Wonderous Physick for even more dmg negation.
and ofc, don't forget to upgrade your Scadutree Blessing with Scadutree Fragments!
