Cake Doughnuts Recipe Demonstration - Joyofbaking.com

  • Recipe here: www.joyofbaking.com/breakfast/... Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make Cake Doughnuts. Cake Doughnuts are fun to make and it is amazing how good they taste straight from the deep fryer. This is when their golden brown crust is nice and crisp, yet inside the doughnut is wonderfully soft, almost cake-like in texture (hence the name).

I really enjoy cooking with you. I lost my memory in a car accident and relearning things has been tough. I love that you don’t babble or have annoying music playing. Thank you for measuring in cups and teaspoons... you’re awesome as a teacher

I love this woman. It’s like being in a Home-Ec class with a teacher you love. Her recipes can always be trusted, and the measuring options are so helpful for those of us that cook using a scale.

When they come out of the deep fryer the outside is crisp, while the inside is soft. But once they are stored the outside becomes more soft and they are quite cake-like in texture.

Normally they will keep about 2 to 3 days. Depending on humidity you can store them at room temperature or else in the fridge.

Cake Doughnuts when they come out of the deep fryer have a fairly crisp crust and a soft inside. It is only after storing them in a covered container that they get soft. So if you like them soft, I would store them overnight before serving. Actually this is when I like them best as it gives the flavors time to develop. However, don't over cook them or the crust will be very crisp.

Stephanie, This is the first ever video of yours i have watched and i must congratulate you. You do the recipe in metric as well as imperial and also give alternate names for ingredients Eg: Plain flour or All Purpose. Hearing a recipe with all purpose flour is something we don't have in Australia. we have plain or self raising flour & use the metric measure. So thank you for using both. I will be watching a lot more of your videos in future.

i find its good because i live in Canada and self rising flour goes by cake flour, or corn flour goes by corn starch etc

It can take about 20 minutes or so, depending on your heat. If you don't have a candy thermometer, test to see if the oil is ready by placing a small cube of bread into the hot oil. If it browns in about 30-45 seconds, the oil is at the correct temperature.

Also I want to thank you for converting everything into Celsius, grams and cm. When watching other video recipes it can get tough to follow because I can never remember how much a cup of something is, or to what temperature I need to preheat the oven. So thank you!

+Mahmoud Akkad You can bake them, in fact, the dough used in the video can be baked, just place in oven F 350 for about 15 to 20 minutes. The difference is the taste, fried is the classic one in Europe. Also the home baked ones don't always turn all pretty even and very rounded even if you use a donuts mold.
