Peanut Butter Cups Recipe Demonstration - Joyofbaking.com

  • Recipe here: www.joyofbaking... Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make homemade peanut butter cups. Peanut Butter Cups were introduced in the 1920s and have been popular ever since. Did you know that you can make them at home? They really are quite easy to make and I think every bit as good. All that is required is to melt some chocolate, place a little in a candy cup, top with a little peanut butter mixture, and then drop a little more chocolate on top. What you end up with is a shell of chocolate with a smooth and creamy peanut butter filling inside. So delicious that you may want to make a double batch.

@ I'm Italian and I've tried for years to cook using "cups" and "spoons", sometimes with disastrous results. Grams are fairly more precise, but I agree that unless you have a scale, they're impossible to use. Spoons and cups might have slightly different sizes (especially spoon - soup spoons are deeper, but you might not even know there's a difference like I did, using all my spoons indiscriminately), and in some recipes just a bit more of an ingredient might give you a bad result, especially in baking and desserts. If you're quite expert, and you know how your cake/bread/dessert consistency should be, you might just eyeball everything like any grandma used to do, but if you don't, in my opinion is better to stick to the scale. I consider myself fairly good at baking, but I can't say I would do that without it.

You could pipe in advance all of your peanut butter fillings,in a pan and inside the fridge. After they freeze you can take them by hand and put them inside the chocolate cups.

I plan to make these but will put the peanut butter filling on plastic wrap and roll it around, this turns the peanut butter into a log (or worm if it's rolled more and more), let it cool in the fridge, just slice the peanut butter worm with a knife and you have a perfect disc to place on the chocolate. less work and more uniform shape.

@@Allie-ck2lj But if the PB gets too cold or has any moisture(h20) on it and mixes with the warm chocolate it can cause bloom and even mold.
I make these ALL the time and sell them. I made over a thousand last Christmas. I do not own a microwave as I dislike them. So I do it by dbl broiler and then I heat the PB and butter on stove, not for long, then pour it into the icing sugar, stir, it's pretty thick, and then I take a mug, push down a zip lock bag, push the PB into the bag, cut a semi big hole on the corner of the bag, and push the PB onto my finger, and it takes literally secs. I can dump PB in 48 cups like 3 mins. If my finger gets too sticky I have a little dish of hot water there to stick my finger into and then dry on paper towel. I use this same recipe to make homemade chocolates. I just use the mold instead of the paper cups.

Omg! My favorite treat! Milk chocolate gives me heartburn. Long time ago, I use to be able to get the dark chocolate covered ones. But no more. This is great....I can make my own! And no offense, but I love reading the comments from viewers who give wonderful tips. Also, I have started making and baking 99% of everything we eat from scratch. Once I found out that 'artificial flavoring' can consist of the most disgusting things. Like in vanilla ice cream, that can mean the skin from cows!! Anyway, I'm always looking for new things to make for my hubby's co workers. I'll wrap each one in foil. This is will be a fun surprise for them. I get bored making the same cookies. Thanks Joy of Baking! Have a blessed day.

I think one of the reasons for making your own candy is improved taste and freshness. All the stuff commercial outfits have to add to make it not go stale and keep it from spoiling can't help but keep any candy from tasting great - instead of just good. I came across a recipe for a clone of Mounds Bars and I can't believe how fantastic they are.

My wife made those for the birthday party of her sister in April. Amazing. Our American buddy did not believe those were handmade. AND he could not stop eating :). It is quite easy if you are patient enough to wait for the right consistence and temperature so the chocolate won`t mix with the peanut. If not, start eating the stuff hahaha!! Thank you so much for this recipe- the video is great and everything is really well explained. It is a nice little gift to bring along a visit and you can fix these cups on short notion.

  • @aprilthomas1489

    Less tedious method:
First paint the melted chocolate with a pastry brush all along the insides of the paper cups. Let it dry. Now you have a thin layer of chocolate. Now put about a tsp of chocolate onto the bottom, pipe in the peanut butter until it is just a little lower than the top of the cup. You can easily eyeball it. Next simply finish filling the cup with as much chocolate as you need to fill the cup the rest of the way.

I have made peanut butter chocolate cups before and they were divine! Now that I have some proper kitchen equipment I am going to try piping out the peanut butter mixture into flat-top bits and then slightly freeze them to make them easy to handle, then place onto the bed of chocolate. I agree the spoon method is tedious. It really is very much worth a beginner's time to learn how to use a piping bag - whether it's plastic bag, parchment paper cones or a cloth bag. Personally I prefer the Ateco brand I found online - very affordable ($2-6 each, depending on size). You don't have to throw anything away and if you wash them right away after using, they wash so very easy and fast. The only thing I regret in my life's journey is not learning how to use a piping bag sooner. With imagination and creativity, you can use them for a variety of purposes.

Because you can make better quality than Reese's. Reese's are made with a controversial chemical that is substituted for some of the cocoa butter in order to reduce cost. That chemical is called Polyglycerol polyricinoleate or PGPR for short. Home made candies also do not have the chemical preservatives because you don't need to assure such long shelf life.

Btw thanx for showing the recipe. Though i watch only for fun cuz my house too poor to get the stuff needed. Those look delicious! Wish i could eat one.......

You could put the bottom layer of chocolate into the freezer for 5 mins to set the bottom and then pipe the filling into the cases with out any trouble, I have done it many times and it's better.

I first made these about a month ago. I absolutely love them and at the same time kinda wish I hadn't tried this.
They're so addictive, Reese's cups have been a favorite of mine every since I was little, and these are way better. I used a bar and a half of Choceur dark chocolate, it's Aldi's store brand. It's tremendoes, buck-fifty for a 6 oz bar and it blows Hershey's and Nestle out of the water.
Aldi is like a home cook's dream, man. Everyone I know who likes to cook loves that store. I can't afford to constantly eat out, if I couldn't cook, I'd be stuck eating like a college student, being this sad bachelor stereotype.
