Crêpes Recipe Demonstration - Joyofbaking.com

  • Recipe here: www.joyofbaking.com/breakfast/... Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make Crêpes. Crêpes are thin French pancakes that have a wonderfully soft and tender texture. They are not that different from an American pancake in taste and texture. I love how you can make the batter ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for a day or two. But even better, you can make the Crêpes a few days ahead and then just reheat them in a warm skillet without any noticeable loss in quality.

She seems like a nice sweet lady and I like how she explains everything, and also includes alternatives, while she bakes.
I’ve learned a lot, and have made various sweets and pastries using her recipe which my family and friends have enjoyed.
I never thought I had a knack for baking but everything I’ve made has been perfect!
    Thanks Stephanie

I do appreciate the way Stephanie gives European/UK amounts by weight, not because we Brits and others can't work out equivalents but it does show her nice old-style manners and consideration. I often check her recipe ideas as she's a good practical cook and explains how to get by without fancy kit, important for new homemakers, etc. I'll admit, for many other American recipes, I just went the easy way and bought myself some US-style cup measures!

I love Crêpes! I'm French Canadian and they are very common here in Quebec. My mother makes them with brown sugar and she adds orange juice or a bit of zest, it takes the flavor to a whole other level.

I made these crepes a few days ago and my they tasted amazing!
They r so simple and easy to make
I substituted the butter with oil and it worked completely fine
The crepes came out crispy on the edges but soft in the centre
I ended up with about 7 crepes instead of 10 maybe becuz i used a bigger pan
The batter came together in seconds
The crepes were so vanilla-ey and tasted so nice
I served mine with loads of nutella
I also drizzled 2 of them with condensed milk and stuffed them with bananas
It was a really good and harmonious combo
Ur recipes r so simple and easy to follow. They never fail to impress!
    Thanks Stephanie!

Hi Stephanie, I just wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that this video, 10 years ago, is what turned me on to your website and eventually inspired me to become an amateur/hobby baker. This was the first video I watched of yours in my early 20s and it let me down a rabbit hole on your site. My baking habit has grown over time and has especially increased over the last few years since Covid like so many. I really appreciate the details of your videos and I have learned so much from you! I use your recipes often but also frequently apply your lessons to other recipes that I use. I currently bake bread, cakes, pies, weekly or more often inspired by your detailed lessons. I have joked that I can't eat store bought baked goods anymore because I can do so much better (not actually a joke thanks to you). Thank you so much for all you have done over the years, you are truly a pioneer of the internet and you have inspired many, many bakers over time!

A good trick when you use a blender and hate to wash it, right after you have used it, do this: almost fill the empty dirty blender with water and some liquid dish soap and blend for a minute.
Discard the dirty water and do it again only with water this time, no soap. Discard again the water and rinse 5 seconds under the running water and that's it! its clean. Even the lid will be clean.

I have been making crepes for many years from various recipes. They usually turned out good. A few days ago I decided to follow this recipe exactly, resting the batter overnight. These were by far the most tender, melt-in-your-mouth crepes I have ever made. Delicious! Better than many restaurants. I don't know how this recipe differs from others, but I will always use this recipe from now on. I used an immersion blender, and it worked great. It's easy to clean.

I add ham and cheese while still in the pan, roll them up, let the cheese melt and they taste amazing! You can also fill them with meat, or chicken, or whatever you like, put tomato sauce or Alfredo sauce on top and maybe some cheese and take to the oven to broil and you have an awesome lunch or dinner! You can get creative with those! 😉 Thank you for the recipe! 🙏

This is basically what English pancakes are though we tend to use a slightly thicker batter. Interesting note for you, One day I didn't have enough milk to make pancakes so I thought I would try Natural Yoghurt instead of the milk and Wahoo, New recipe, Savoury pancakes, they came out REALLY light and fluffy with a slight sourness which goes fantastically well with fresh icecream and strawberries :-) btw, I usually also have my pancakes rolled with lemon and sugar my fav :D

In the Netherlands we eat these pancakes aswell.
I guess everyone in the west of europe eats them?

I'm Australian but perhaps you are right, Though I was born in Australia the rest of my family was born in England. I think in Australia most people make this kind of pancake as opposed to the more cake like American version. Great thing about being Australian is we eat foods from right around the world as a normal thing, in a way recipes from around the world is the Australian diet. I would quite like to travel to Scandinavia at some stage I do love the people, food and general healthy outlook on life they have in those parts. In my opinion they are so far ahead of Australia in many ways. Or to put it in another way our government in Australia is SO far behind in many respects its SO annoying but I guess most Australians are not aware of how things are done in Europe or anywhere else in the world sadly. Sorry, went off on a bit of a tangent and rant lol.

When they're thick, I find the texture is a little rubbery. For savory, if you like more salt you could add a little more.

Little extra tips: You could add also a little bit of fresh orange juice to the batter, it gives a little twist to it and it is so tastefull!
When you cook them in the pan, you can add very thin slices of apple in the crepe. As it solidifies, they're trapped in there and they are slighty cooked and it is just divine! :)

Yeah This is just what us Brits call pancakes but we generally eat one and I like to add sugar on top when I want sweet and add grated cheese when I want savoury.

In Slovakia, we only know crepes, not pancakes, though we call them pancakes if we talk to anyone English speaking. I have no idea how other people make them, but in our family we use just the flour, milk, sugar, salt and one egg, nothing else necessary, so if you're short on anything, you can still use this simplified recipe.

They TRY to pass them off as their own by changing them a bit and make them all crap.. Think thats because their fat and 90% of the country's OBESE that their pea brains have turned to mush with all the FAT they consume. Should be ashamed as fast food controls their GREEDY lives!!! Awe better watch they also have guns and that makes them DEADDDDDDD HARD LMFARO @YOU!!!!!!
